“Holy smokes this place deserves all the stars. First, shout out to the two girls who helped us. They were not only incredibly kind and patient, they were super helpful. They were the girls working the register and the other making sandwiches at the counter. Thank you both for your help! Now the food- the hoagie bread is fresh and flavorful. All four of us loved our food. I ordered the veggie hoagie hot- probably the best veggie sandwich I have ever had. Mushrooms, peppers and onions sautéed together topped with thick avocado slices. Can't wait to come back and try the pretzel and chicken parmigiana along with many others that caught our eye. They also sell some east coast comfort snacks like Tasty Kake which my fiancé had to have. Sadly, it's the only thing I was able to get a picture of because we demolished our food. Ambiance is nostalgic, old deli with signage and a TV. They have both indoor seating (about 3 or 4 small tables) and outdoor seating on the covered patio. Parking is plentiful with the private lot with minimal street parking.“
“franks is as close to an authentic Philly cheese steak as I have had it n California. I am from Philly originally and eating at Franks brought me back. We had the cheese steaks with grilled onions, banana peppers and mushrooms. Outstanding. The fries were large but a little disappointing with a slightly fishy taste despite being perfectly cooked. The texture was a little funny too. N zt time I will try the hoagies and skip the fries. all in all, highly recommend“
“Although I already have a favorite for Philly Cheesesteak sandwiches this place is a close #2. Their food is tasty and they have my favorite kind of chewy ice. That in itself is reason for a good review. I do like Charley's... yummy...crunch crunch!!“
“Dropped by today for lunch, probably my 3rd or 4th time since I first tried them and their food is always consistent. Flavors are good, service is great and it's a very clean location. They have seating inside and outside, but parking can get scarce between 11:30-1pm during the lunch rush.I've been to Philly and tried cheese steaks out there, so I can confirm these are as good as what you'll find in the non 'touristy' locations, IYKYK. ?Traditional with all toppings and an order of well done fries.Parking: Limited between 1130am-1pm“
“I understand the topic of bad customer service these days has been beaten to death in the news and social media but this Philly’s location really took the cake.We went to pick up our phone order tonight and the young lady who charged us and handed us our bag was so unbelievably rude.My husband and I were very polite and for whatever reason got three eyerolls out of her in our 60 second transaction. We walked back in immediately because something was missing from our order and she acted like it was OUR fault. She gave it to us with an extra eyeroll before we left. We must have been inconveniencing her.Food here is fantastic, and that deserves at least 4 stars in my opinion, but I will not return to this location.“
“If I go to the South Coast Plaza, I'm also going to Philly's Best. They have the best cheesesteak on the West Coast IMO. My go to is the Classic Cheesesteak with raw onions and I get the hot peppers on the side. I also get half onion rings and half fries. The guys that work there are very nice and accommodating. The restaurant is clean. What surprised me today is they switched from Wise potato chips to Herrs. I am a Jersey girl, I was expecting Wise because I wanted the Garlic and Onion chips. I know Herrs is a Philly brand and just as good. They didn't have Peanut Chews either. It wasn't a big deal because I was really there for the cheesesteak which did not disappoint. I know they have a cheesesteak joint in K-Town, which I do visit every now and then because they are closer to me, but they always leave me wishing it was Philly's Best!“
“Love this family run food truck and the fact that there is a gluten friendly option with the cheesesteak fries and Reuben loaded fries. The owners are so sweet and even made us loaded tots one day when they we're running low on some ingredients. Follow them on IG to get updates on location and schedule. Highly recommend for anyone working or living in the Santa Ana Civic Center during lunch time.“
“We love this eatery. My ONLY complaint is the ridiculously high price of their Onion Rings. They are nearly $7.00 and only 6 - 8 of varying sizes, some being really small, are in a serving. Don't get me wrong, they are excellent...but over a dollar a piece....c'mon now“
“Gotta admit, Philly's Best holds a special place in my heart - a nostalgia trip like no other. Back when I was living the Woodbridge life in Irvine, this joint was on our hit list for both lunch and dinner. Now, I'm not exactly the beef sandwich type, but that didn't stop the squad from dragging me there time and time again. Nope, I was all about that Turkey Sandwich life. Their meats, their bread, and those bottomless pickles? They were the real MVPs, especially in a world where Jimmy John's, Jersey Mike's, and Boar's Head were nowhere to be found.Flash forward nearly two decades, and I found myself back in Orange County, craving a taste of the past. But this time, I hit a different spot. Truth be told, my expectations were lower than a submarine's basement because most of my childhood food crushes haven't aged well. But surprise, surprise - Philly's has stepped up its game. They're serving Boar's Head meat now, a game-changer if you ask me. The place was empty, which had me worried, but I soldiered on and ordered 3 sandwiches - 2 cold cuts, 1 Philly, plus a side of fries and onion rings. And guess what? The pickle bar was still in business! In this post-COVID world, that's a rarity, my friends. These sandwiches were as big as a Jersey Mike's sub, but here's the kicker - the meat actually looked like meat and not melted cheese pretending to be meat, and the bread? It's like they found a time machine to bake it without all the preservatives. Price? Same as the competition. But they threw in fries and onion rings, a welcome change from the usual chips. Oh, and homemade ranch dressing! Why is it that so many places can't crack the code for this simple delight? Whether it's True Foods, Mortons, or even Denny's - they all struggle. Buffalo Wild Wings charges extra for it, but here, they make it from scratch and handed it to me on the house. Talk about a bonus! Maybe I should've made a side salad at home with the extra dressing. The service was as good as it could be. The girl at the counter was a sweet as a button. Zero complaints or suggestions there. I'm glad Philly's Best is still in the game. They've got some killer sandwiches, especially those Philly ones - they speak for themselves. My only concern? Their prices are on par with the big, soulless chains out there, despite serving up a superior product. It's tough to compete in that arena, but here's to hoping they make it. Best wishes, Philly's Best - you've got my sandwich-loving heart.“
“A hearty Cheesesteak sandwich. Prepared right in front of you. Plenty of options and toppings. We went for lunch on a Monday and was not busy. The location is in the middle of an outlet shopping mall. We ate outside to take advantage of the perfect Orange, CA day.Parking is free and plentiful.Good sandwich, swift service, clean tables and eating area. Recommended.“
“Excellent quality and authentic flavor on this Philly cheese steak sandwich...and plenty of meat! Now days, so many places skimp on the meat and basically force ya to pay for extra meat in order to get a proper sandwich, but not John's. John's loads it up the right way! Also, the order of fries is massive...enough for 3 people.“
