“I can't believe I haven't done a review of this place yet. They do a rotating menu that features different cuisines on a monthly basis. I think the first time I went, they had Fiijian food and the second time they had Haitian. Their classic menu includes Somalian, Egyptian, Kenyan. They hire immigrant chefs that highlight their cultures which I thought was pretty dang cool.I got their pita chips with Baba ghanoush. They deep fry their pita bread but also give unfried pita bread if you prefer. But their pita chips are SO GOOD. it's like... crunchy but also chewy. kind of the best of both worlds. I got a lamb stew one time. or was it goat... It came with rice and a giant lamb shank or something. Bone was still on... kinda cut open and the marrow was still inside! Hell yeah. It was full of flavor. Lots of spice to it but not spice-y. I'm thinking maybe it was the Egyptian smothered lamb shank now that I think about it. I remember also trying some of the sambusas. Deep fried triangles filled with spiced, amazing, piping hot goodness. I love that they allow you to mix and match whatever filling you want... unlike other restaurants that make you order them in batches of 3 or whatever.Service was great. We had THE Christian Davis serving us, bringing us all the plates, describing what everything was and how it was made. An extremely pleasant experience... all for a great cause.“

Horchata was one of my favorite drinks, when I didn't care about sugar, calories, good health, diabetes. Heck, I remember I bought a large horchata from a former Albertaco's in Hawaiian Gardens, only to come back in a hour or so & buy another one. For shame! Anyhoo, Nomad Ice Pops' dairy-free horchata popsicle had all the taste & flavors of horchata that I remembered. It was frozen solid, meaning it didn't melt at all on a high 80's day. I ate the whole popsicle one bite at a time, which made things less messy.Service was good. Nomad Ice Pops operates as a takeout window. “Emuna Catering went above and beyond... and then they went above and beyond that!!!I'm an Azeri Jew from the former Soviet Union. Not only is our cuisine very specific but our culinary style is vastly different from what catering companies are accustomed to in this country. We redefine what the term "family style" means.On top of a loaded cocktail hour, we were looking for a caterer that could provide 12 cold appetizers to each table, a few hot appetizers, and 5-6 different entrees that would satisfy meat-eaters, pescatarians, and vegetarians alike. And of course, on top of it all, it had to be kosher. I spent many stressful weeks talking to different caterers. None of them took the time to truly understand what I was asking them to do. And none of them could deliver.Enter John. John delivered on every level. We had an abundance of food. Shawarma. Chicken kabob. Shish kabob. Kubideh. Tacos. Avocado egg rolls. Moraccan cigars. And that's just cocktail hour. The food was delicious and the service was impeccable. We had so much beautiful food waiting for us at our table after the ceremony concluded. I'm tempted to list everything here but it would make this review far too long. Nobody was hungry for one second at any point throughout the night and the food was amazing.There was also a desert room at our wedding that could have doubled as an art installation. The fruit was cut and assorted beautifully across the tables. There were so many different types of pastries. We had a tea station and an espresso station, both of which had a server who showed the most generous hospitality with their spirit. Everyone keeps talking to us about the desert room. My aunt just called me yesterday to rave about the wedding, specifically the food and the deserts. She told me it felt like we were all relaxing with everyone we love in a beautiful home that we created.Meanwhile, the bar at our wedding was outstanding. The bartenders were having fun with our guests. At one point, they brought out a tray of shots to the dance floor with bottles that had VIP sparklers attached. I had no idea they were going to do that. It was a blast. If that's not your thing, I'm sure they would read the room accordingly. But they understood our vibe and added a lot to our celebration.I'm telling you, John didn't deliver, he OVER-delivered.I probably called him 50 times throughout the course of the wedding planning and he always made time for me. Liset provided me with a quote for a 20-person birthday party for smoked ribs, brisket, mashed potatoes and cheesy potatoes. The pricing is reasonable and most importantly the food was DELICIOUS! Being that this is my first time ordering from them, there was some hesitation but let me say, that I was pleasantly pleased by the flavor of the food. The meat from the ribs was tender and falling off the bones. The briskets so tender and full of flavor. The mac and cheese and cheesy potatoes was all sooo delicious!
