I grew up in Phila, but in the 35 years I’ve lived in LA, I never found a place that could duplicate that perfect Jim’s Steaks style…not until South Philly Experience launched their food truck 14 years ago! So delicious! Then, sadly, they disappeared a few years ago. That’s why I freaked out yesterday when I found out that they now have this permanent location! They ship in the Amoroso rolls to make the perfect Philly steak sandwich. Jonathan did his homework to cook them properly. He gets that shred on the grill just right. They have Whiz (of course) and their “pizza steak” nails the South Street style exactly. Huge portions, quick service. And they have peanut chews and Herr’s potato chips. “I saw that this spot had great reviews so I decided to stop by.Customer service was excellent and very kind when I entered. I just ordered a classic Philly cheesesteak with fries. The cheese steak was good & the fries were descent.The flavor was ok, just wish their sauce for the Philly cheesesteak was on the bun or on the meat. They’re in little mini containers. The fries were crispy but not too seasoned and they only have packeted ketchup too. Overall it was a descent lunch.I’d definitely come back to this spot again to try their other menu items.“
“I wandered by abnd was quickly greeted by server. She asked what i would like before I was seated... I went with the lule plate and a drink. I was served rather quick. I was rewarded with a fragrant plate. The server warned me the hot sauce is spicy. Of course this the first thing I tried haha. She was not lying it had a good kick to it. The meat was juicy flavorful, and bit pink? I was ok with that. The bread was delicious. The only thing I was disapointed was the plastic cutlery. 1/3 into the meal poink! the fork break cutting the lule. Luckily there was enough of the handle to continue. I finished up and paid inside and left a happy camper.“
“I love Charley's, the staff was really helpful and friendly. Thank you again to the two staff members who were there on 1.20.24 during the afternoon. They made my experience that much better because the two worked well together, and they looked like they enjoyed their job, which is always a plus for me when I go out and eat in at a restaurant. I would definitely recommend this location to everyone. I like the classic philly cheesesteak, but today I tried the chicken philly steak since it was on special, and it tasted great. This location offers a military discount for those vets out looking for good discounts when eating out. It is located in the Azelea shopping center in South Gate so there is plenty of parking.“
“I've been coming here for over 10 years loyal customers nice people. The young man that makes the sandwiches has been there for a while and they better be paying him well!! The food is great but today I went and got 2 large sandwiches (thats it)and my total was almost $40. At this point, it's extortion, there's no way in hell they should be getting away with this but hey these foreigners come to America and think we made of money. Nothing has changed since the time I started coming here and paying 7.99-9.99 for the SAME sandwiche ?“

It was a delightful way to start the dining experience. The staff was absolutely incredible, the perfect vibe of professionalism & casualness that makes you feel like you're right at home. Our drinks came promptly & were absolutely delightful. The food was, INCREDIBLE. Desert was a dream. I didn't think it could get any better but then our waiter informed us of their bar next door. “I ordered a Philly cheese steak with sweet peppers, American cheese and cheese whiz on the side. It was a good Philly cheese steak, better than most of the ones out here and some of the ones in Philly. I'm just glad I got it with sweet peppers because I feel like it would have been a bit bland without it. The American cheese didn't add as much flavor as I would have liked. That's where the cheese wiz come in for the clutch. I wanted to give it a 5 star but It wasn't something I would go out of the way for. If I drove by, I might pick one up but other than that it's just Better than average. The parking situation can be a bit compact with only 5 stalls and a one way driveway. The service was quick and the seating is only outdoors so be mindful if it rains.“

“We landed at LAX late and starving. After checking into our hotel we found this food truck still open. The gentleman operating/cooking was friendly and prompt. Food was delicious, especially at midnight. Good comfort food right before crashing for the night.“

“I ordered a 10 piece wing combo per delivery and it came out to about $35. Kind of to be expected but still pricing on the less the wings were good but were very small. I did appreciate how they let you decide if you want them extra crispy. They also let you decide whether you want all flats or all drums so that was nice, I would recommend they’re medium or barbecue flavors. I plan to try their lemon pepper next time.“
