It’s been years since I last been here. I heard their quality has improved so I figured I give them another try. But man, $30 for unagi bowl. Jesus. It was ok. The soup tasted like water. I think they forgot to add the miso. I wish I could say it has improved but it’s hard to give them that.

Stopped by for a casual dinner and really impressed by the food and service. We sat at the sushi counter so in addition to the great food, we also got to watch the two friendly chef working their magic with precision, focus, and a pace that's fast but not hurried. Between my wife and I, we had 8 small dishes and sushi, and some hot house sake. Every item was well made with lovely plating, and the price was very reasonable. Will definitely visit again!

Food from the kitchen is excellent. There is nothing special about the sushi. Service and atmosphere is good.

I sometimes go to a Japanese restaurant in the OC area for work called Gindako, but they don't sell takoyaki. At the sushi bar, there was an unfriendly old woman with unpleasant colored hair and the service was terrible. A restaurant run by such an insane manager is likely to go under soon, but this is a typical pattern of failed Japanese restaurants. It's a shame because I like Nagoya food.

First off, didn't allow us to bring outside drinks. No visible sign was presented outside the restaurant which indicated "no outside drinks". Waiter insisted on putting our drinks in their fri. Price is definitely on the more expensive side as you would expect to spend around $40 per person. As we were dining, the waiter kept on checking up on us countless times which became annoying at some point. There was also an employee behind the sushi bar that kept on staring as we dined. This made us quite uncomfortable. However, the food was neatly presented and made. At the very least, my tastebuds were satisfied.

Nagoya Cuisine is the soul food of Japan. Every time I go to Japan, I have to pit stop in Nagoya even if its out of the way just to eat their delicious cuisine. And I am proud to say that this place captures the flavor! The featured Nagoya dishes are Misokatsu, Hitsumabushi, Tebasaki, Kishimen, and my favorite dish in the world: Misonikomi Udon! The Misonikomi Udon is not served traditionally (in earthenware pot where you use the pot lid as a plate) and it is a bit more soupy and not as thick. While it's definitely not like Japan, the flavor is great and the heat is there. If you love Udon, this is a MUST try! Their Nabeyaki Udon is also great, as is their Sansai and literally any other broth you feel like getting cuz their noodles are amazing (don't sleep on Kishimen, though keep in mind that takes longer to prepare)If you want something unique and you like eel, order the traditional Hitsumabushi. Make sure you follow the instructions on how to eat it if it's your first time, because there is a very specific non-specific way you must follow to truly enjoy it! Enough talk about nagoya cuisine, my favorite dish here is actually Tori Namban! Chicken Nanban is chicken that is twice fried with two sauces. Hard to truly explain, just order it if you love chicken, karaage, or "tartar-y" sauce. Speaking of chicken, they feature a lot of Jidori chicken here, which is actually pretty hard to find. No chicken in america can compare to the chicken in Japan, but the quality of the chicken here is on a higher tier. It feels kinda weird to have Jidori Oyako Don, but if you love egg, you cant ignore this dish

I always have a great time at Sagami! My parents have been a regular for years, and they never disappoint. All of the staff here are so friendly. Love how we can get a good balance of sushi and small bites. Def try their sashimi mix matsu, unagi don, and chicken wings!
