Good Shanxi food at a convenient Irvine location. Beware the wait - when I was there recently, they were significantly understaffed so the service was less efficient than expected, but understandable nonetheless.

Not good imo. Ordered pea sprouts and they were old and tough. The steamed dumplings were so-so and the skin was way too thick. The fact that there were only two other parties in there besides myself during peak lunch hour should've tipped me off.

Staff was not very friendly. I asked him to check/change one order after 3 mins I placed the order. He told me it’s too late, without willingly to go to the kitchen and ask. Food was ok, not very authentic.

This was our first time to Tang Du and we liked it enough to want to come back to try other items on the menu. We have missed Sam Woo's honey walnut shrimp since they closed so we tried Tang Du's. It's not the same but we enjoyed Tang Du's version with lightly crunchy shrimp & walnuts covered in mayo sauce with a bit of mustard in addition to honey flavor. The soup dumplings were also good but lacked the soup so seemed more like regular dumplings albeit with a generous portion of meat filling and nice thick skin. Their beef rolls were good but not as tightly rolled as other places and the beef seemed like from a Mongolian Beef plate. We came for lunch at 11am and were seated right away; the staff were nice and helpful.

This is one of the hand cut/shave noodles restaurants in Southern California. I was told that they are all from the same city in the province of Shanxi. I will review this one based on my experience with the other ones I've been to in the past. The pan fried bao 生煎包was not done correctly. The flour mixture that was supposed to make the bottom crispy ended up a good mess over the entire surface. The husband and wife lung slices夫妻肺片did not contain tripe牛肚, and it taste somewhat bland not enough spice麻棘. The noodle dishes, including the cat ears貓耳朵, were done perfectly. As usual, things in Irvine are pricy, especially in this economy. The experience overall is positive and I will return to try other dishes.

This one of my family's favorite restaurants.

This is one of the best restaurants in the area, and is meant for those of us who want authentic dishes, full of taste. I'd recommend many dishes ! This is one of those menus you want to devour with your eyes. The pork belly with jalapeño, the lamb rack, and the bone-in chicken hot pot are some of my staples. But, the goal is to eat the menu. This is one of those staple restaurants that you go to all the time, for flavor, great service, and just the perfect meal. Enjoy !

Taste and quality doesn't agree with me. My husband order the fried spare ribs, it's mostly fat.

First time coming here and there's no wait on a Wednesday evening. The menu has a lot of varieties of noodles, rice and entrees to choose from. We've ordered the Shanxi Noodle Soup, minced pork pancake, braised beef with Shanxi Vinegar sauce, and pork pan fried dumplings. Out of all the dishes, we love the braised beef the most. The sauce is very authentic and the braised beef melts in your mouth. The Shanxi noodle looks very spicy but it's not that bad. The pork pancake is standard good quality. Service was prompt and the waitress was very attentive. If you're craving for real Chinese food with reasonable prices, I would highly recommend this place.

The food was great, highly recommended to try. The server was nice and helpful. The condition looks clean. Overall not too expensive compare to other Chinese restaurants. Wonderful experience over all and I would definitely come back.

It's the third time dine here, awesome!! I rarely eat lamb, but the lamb here is very tender.

I and my housemate tried this restaurant few days ago. I had the lamb noodles and he had haggis soup. Quite frankly, the environment of this restaurant was good, and the service not bad. The noodles here tasted better than another restaurant named Dunhuang in Irvine. However, both of us had loose bowels after this lunch. So maybe the food here was not very clean. I don't think I will come back again.

I got take out millet soup and seafood noodles....all I can say was that both were very bland, and ingredients sparse and not very good quality. The only redeeming quality was that service was fast.
