Food is terrible here. Why do I see people eating here? You have many better burger options in irvine.

Burgers are sadly not what they used to be. Used to be soft and fresh, now patties taste frozen

Damn I haven't been here in maybe more than 5 years. The burger is still good and I'm surprised about the prices it is not that expensive. I go to the one in Costa Mesa not sure if that is still open but this one in Spectrum it is a big place with 2 bars pretty cool spot. I don't remember if I ate here before. I had the truffle burger and sweet potato fries yum!

First and foremost, Rest in Peace to Mrs. Cummings! She took her own life 3 weeks later after having this guy torment her for months! About the restaurant: Tried it on a Friday. I had ordered the original Umami Burger with some fries. The wife had ordered some of their nachos which were actually really good to be honest. We had originally dined in but decided to grab to-go due to the hostile climate there. So, it appears that The owner, Adam Fleishman, made a despicable move when he decided to impose on an older lady, by the name of Claudia Cummings. He had her gaslit into thinking she “wasn’t all there” and never paid her rent! Even more shocking, he was never invited to live in her home. Mrs. Cummings’ tenants were very perturbed by his actions to not pay rent, which caused both of them to move out. Mind you, she had been like a daughter to Claudia for 15 years!! All because the Umami owner here did his best to make everyone else feel uncomfortable. Sadly, Mrs. Cummings took her own life shortly after this man was rid of her home.I was unaware of all this. Again, there was just something strange about this place. One of the guys there l, who’s name I won’t mention, suggested I search “Adam Fleishman of Umami Burger.” This explains why they were short staffed! Lots of staff are quitting in order to stand up to this monster! The other locations are temporarily closed due to this negative publicity. Just look!

The founder of Umami Burger (Adam Fleischman) is a horrible human being. Just search what he did to a poor old woman. This dude literally squatted at her home which more than likely drove her to commit suicide. Just search “Outside the box with Flash.” It almost sounds too insane to be true. This guy was worth millions of dollars.

The service here is very unorganized. I came here on a Friday evening when the restaurant was empty (at least half the tables were empty) it took 50 minutes for our food to arrive and it was a very simple meal - just 1 order of fries and 1 order of burgers. We asked several waiters whether our food would arrive and each time they kept saying the food would come out soon and it took them fifty minutes to finally have our food arrive. The manager apologized but apology won't fix the time wasted waiting for our food. I understand that the food industry can be stressful however waiting fifty minutes for a simple order was beyond ridiculous. The managers name is Amanda. The food was pretty good though.

Oh man, just remove the umami branding. I loved umami burger!!! I ate at every location except the arts district one. During and after the pandemic it became too difficult/pricey to keep their original model. They started selling thin patty's and changing recipes. It wasn't the same but I remained loyal to the chain. Eventually all the locations closed, except for this one !!! (And the one in the airport). I set out to get another one of their burgers. I was excited to try it again. I knew it wouldn't be the same but something similar would do. BUT What is this?!?! If this is still "umami"due to being part of the Irvine improv just change the name. It's deceitful. The double truffle burger was so dry. I scraped my esophagus on a piece of charred meat. Didn't taste like any version of umami thus far and had no truffle flavor. I don't care if it's synthetic, pour some truffle oil on it. The service was also disorganized. We were told by several servers they would drop off waters but none of them brought them. We were told to order on the app but the previous patrons order was still there. We ordered with the servers and when they brought out our food they brought double the burgers. Two different servers eventually brought us water at the same time and they donated the extras to the people next to us. No napkins, no condiments. When we needed the check we had trouble flagging anyone down so we went to the front to ask but they were busy. Eventually we got the bartender to print out our check. The red lights really help hide the look of the burger.

DO NOT GO HERE! If I could rate this place 0 stars, I would. I came to this Umami Burger location a few days ago with a friend and the customer service, dining experience, and food quality were HORRIBLE. We arrived and sat at the indoor booths area , and our server was a tall and slim man with long hair that was in a ponytail. Immediately after we were seated, a large rat ran across my foot and off into the restaurant. The server then proceeded to laugh and say “oh my gosh, i’m so sorry!”, yet he showed no urgency of trapping the rodent to get it out of the indoor dining area. We moved back to the outdoor seating and ordered our food. The first shake was brought overflowing, sticky, and dripping over the sides of the cup onto his hands and the table. The server proceeded to messily wipe the outside of the cup with a small napkin, which was gross and unsanitary. Despite the fact that there were only two tables seated, one of which was nearly done eating, the food took very long to arrive. Even simple requests like a side of sauce or a water refill took unnecessarily long. The food was brought cold and the order was incorrect. My friend ordered the Truffle burger, which is advertised as having “Truffle Cheddar.” The server and cook both confirmed that their truffle burger comes with yellow square cheese, yet my friend received a burger with white and round cheese, which was confirmed to be provolone. After explaining this to both the chef and the server, they continued to “gaslight” us, or try to trick us into thinking we were wrong. The two burgers we ordered and the fries were brought cold and the meal was flavorless. Throughout this whole process, the servers and the manager never attempted to make things right. When we confronted the server about the customer service and the wrong order, he stood there saying “um… um…” and continued to stand there without saying anything for 2-3 minutes. Eventually, he asked if we wanted him to do something about it, to which we requested a discount on the food items that were made incorrectly. The server did not reply, and left. Later, we were approached by the manager, who was a light skinned lady with straight black hair and dark black eyebrow makeup, who said she had spoken to her staff and they denied making the wrong burger. Several reviews describe her as rude and condescending, and I agree. Our entire experience including the wrong order that we received was caught on camera, so we requested the manager review it and she said no. She would not listen to any of our concerns as she had already gotten false information from her staff. We again requested a discount on the food items that were made incorrectly, to which she said no because it’s their policy. She was unable to show the policy in writing or any proof that her statements were not made up. After aggressively denying a partial discount, and without providing any solutions for the matter whatsoever, she said “if you aren’t going to pay, i’m going to have to ask you to leave.” Note that we never denied paying, and my friend even said to her, “we want to pay for our food but we expect a partial discount for the food items that were made incorrectly, because I didn’t get the food that i ordered.” As a manager, she has authority and should have morals to make an exception for our experience. She didn’t care. She then kicked us out of the restaurant by telling us again we need to leave. As we left, she shouted at us to never come back. I would not recommend this place for anyone. The service is beyond unprofessional, the food is gross, and it is really unsanitary and has rats. They should be shut down.

The food was spectacular and the service even better. Our server was Rowan and he was amazing. Also the ambiance was perfect, the heaters were even turned on which we appreciated so much do to it being freezing outside.
