“Love their karaoke on Thursday night. Atmosphere is always Funtastic. Bar service is excellent. The only reason i gave poor rating in food category was because the ice taste like the tap water which unfortunately makes drinks taste like tap water.“

“Like stepping back in time to the days of the gold rush. The service station ended up being a terrific choice for us to eat this evening. All of us got something different and all of us walked away very happy with our selection. The service station has that kind of "saloon" feel to it when you come in the door. And I mean that in a good way. Nicely refurbished to reflect a lot of the old style. There's a bar when you first come in and plenty of seating throughout the restaurant. The menu item of choice for me tonight was the "fish and chips". It's beer, battered Alaskan Pollock fish. It comes with homemade coleslaw and a choice of sides and I chose a salad. A very nice portion size of fish that was flaky and not at all fishy tasting. The homemade coleslaw was terrific, wish there was more in the cup. The salad consisted of lettuce and cherry tomatoes. I went with the blue cheese. Super friendly waitress with lots of good suggestions and very welcoming to us.“

Jamestown Hotel Restaurant Bar • $$

“Extended. We stayed in this hotel. We were spending a few days in San Francisco, visiting a relative, and along the way we made the occasional getaway to see picturesque places. In this case, within the scheduled excursion they had reserved a room at this hotel-restaurant. It looked like a Farwest hotel, I took a lot of photos, both the reception, room, common areas, etc. Reviewing them seems long to me. It was an experience that even after many years you remember the place. In this hotel where we spent the night, had dinner and had breakfast. In the morning we flew to the small town and continued the march. The photos accompany“

“We are frequent visitors of the Bourbon Barrel and it gets better each time. Great drinks and surprisingly amazing food. I've had almost every item on their menu and nothing has disappointed. The brie cheese dish is a must try! The only problem is that it's gone too quickly. Excited to see how the expansion turns out with the large outdoor patio!!“

“Went in over the weekend. Bartender was amazing! I asked for an Aperol Spritz which he was not familiar with and was willing to google or whatever he needed to do to make me happy. I went with a glass of sparkling wine instead. Great experience. Amazing what great service will do for your business.“

Claussen's Corner Bar • $
1208 S Main St, Angels Camp - 10.28 miles

“This corner bar just changed it's name it's now The Gold Digger. It's easy to find and remember because it's on a corner right next door to the visitor information center witch is always a good stop with its clean modern restrooms. This town while known for it's gold was really catapulted to famous status for it it's frog jumping contest "Calaveras county" Highway 49's winding roads and occasional traffic can tire a person. So take a break and stop here as I've done on 3 trips now. Our bartender Raylenae was friendly and engaging in conversation as were the other locals sitting at the bar and have been on every stop I have made there. Why the 5 stars? The bar is not fancy. It's not going to make you feel like you're living the lifestyles of the rich and famous. But I wasn't expecting that. And as long as the bar doesn't have that stale beer smell and the bathrooms are clean it passes the first test. Next do you get the stare down like you've invaded private local territory. And last do they buy the cheapest rum and vodka for the well. With rum so cheep I don't get why so many bars do that. If you make it through those test you're well on the way to finding a good bar. This bar passes the test and is one of those rare places where the community comes together to discuss Community items, it's a place where friends come together after a day of working. And from what I see they are willing to accept strangers as friends. When you stop here don't mess up a good thing. Treat these people with respect. Because my short time with them they've always been a memorable and enjoyable part of my trips. Mel and Linda“

“My review of the City Hotel and What Cheer Saloon is FANTASTIC! The atmosphere takes you back to the gold rush days, and the food is as good as it gets. This is the Golden Ticket." The kobe beef burger with snake river candied bacon is next level. It's as good of a hamburger as you will eat anywhere!“
