Gold Diggers Bar • $
1208 S Main St, Angels Camp

“Just visited the Gold Diggers Saloon in Angels Camp to watch the Golden State Warriors and had a blast watching the game. What a great group of regulars and the bartender Lori was the best, really personal. To top it off the Warriors won and high fives were everywhere. This would be a great place to watch game 6 that is being played in Oakland. Come one, come all and enjoy a good time“

Claussen's Corner Bar • $
1208 S Main St, Angels Camp

“This corner bar just changed it's name it's now The Gold Digger. It's easy to find and remember because it's on a corner right next door to the visitor information center witch is always a good stop with its clean modern restrooms. This town while known for it's gold was really catapulted to famous status for it it's frog jumping contest "Calaveras county" Highway 49's winding roads and occasional traffic can tire a person. So take a break and stop here as I've done on 3 trips now. Our bartender Raylenae was friendly and engaging in conversation as were the other locals sitting at the bar and have been on every stop I have made there. Why the 5 stars? The bar is not fancy. It's not going to make you feel like you're living the lifestyles of the rich and famous. But I wasn't expecting that. And as long as the bar doesn't have that stale beer smell and the bathrooms are clean it passes the first test. Next do you get the stare down like you've invaded private local territory. And last do they buy the cheapest rum and vodka for the well. With rum so cheep I don't get why so many bars do that. If you make it through those test you're well on the way to finding a good bar. This bar passes the test and is one of those rare places where the community comes together to discuss Community items, it's a place where friends come together after a day of working. And from what I see they are willing to accept strangers as friends. When you stop here don't mess up a good thing. Treat these people with respect. Because my short time with them they've always been a memorable and enjoyable part of my trips. Mel and Linda“

“Last August, I visited Camp Angel and Murphys with 4 friends, I discovered this little wine bar, and my fellow traveler said he could drive for me, so I had a cup of beer, it tasted so beautiful. So it was so much fun to find this unforgettable place on my map a year later...“

Cheeseburger

“Classic old time bar. Great, friendly service. Limited menu . Had to wait 1/2 hr for baby back ribs(were told this up front). They were just ok...not "fall off the bone tender". Cheeseburger was juicy and cooked to perfection. Nice sides, especially the roasted veggies. Great beer and cocktails too.“

“Very kind service. Food was pretty food, but not amazing considering the price. I know everything has increased, but wouldn't expect to pay almost $20 for a somewhat dry chicken sandwich with pesto sauce on it, along with french fries as the side. The Smoked & Sliced Beef sandwich was good, though! DELICIOUS FRENCH FRIES! 10 & 11 year old split the Pulled Pork Nacho Fries, which was good but the pulled pork was slightly dry and the cheese sauce tasted from a jar. Be aware that the fries on the nachos are different than the normal fries -- like fry chips.Wikki Stix for the kids is a nice touch at the table. No no Sarsaparilla (pronounced Sasparilla) at the restaurant though... ?Parking: Parallel parked in front of restaurantKid-friendliness: Offer Wikki Stix for kids to play with -- nice touch!“

“Gooney's Bar is an oasis and welcome mirage in the relatively deserted Foothill region. Not only is the cabin-like decor of this bar/restaurant very aesthetically pleasing and instantly welcoming, the bathrooms are so clean, well-kept and sanitized you will wonder if you stumbled into a medical plaza rather than a bar. Owing to the gregarious and attentive owner, as well as the young, but very professional bartenders, Gooney's has created the comfort and atmosphere of a dive bar, without the grime and occasional hiccups that often plague those establishments. The food is varied and delicious and the fairly-priced craft beers and cocktails are always spot on. Whether you're a regular or just passing through, I can promise a great experience and you might just leave with a new friend or two.“

“We took a ride from Stockton to Coperopulis which I had never heard before. We met up with my nephew and his wife and my son and his wife had pizza and the cheese sticks which are amazing! The little town was built to look old but vibrant it's a cool place with other eateries around and quaint bars. Gold Dust has ice cold beer on tap and matching ice cold fountain drinks. I highly recommend you not pass Coperopulis without stopping into Gold Dust Pizza.“

“A perfect pub. Live music, lively service, and nachos. We came in for our second stop in Murphy's. They had all the drink info on the wall, a nice big food menu, and plenty of seating. The bartender who's name maybe Nick? Made us feel right at home. He was a step ahead of our needs the whole time as we sat at the bar and took over for an hour. We laughed and enjoyed ourselves immensely. I would consider that first class service. Ritz level, deep into Calaveras. Will be back for a stouty pint.“

Jamestown Hotel Restaurant Bar • $$

“Extended. We stayed in this hotel. We were spending a few days in San Francisco, visiting a relative, and along the way we made the occasional getaway to see picturesque places. In this case, within the scheduled excursion they had reserved a room at this hotel-restaurant. It looked like a Farwest hotel, I took a lot of photos, both the reception, room, common areas, etc. Reviewing them seems long to me. It was an experience that even after many years you remember the place. In this hotel where we spent the night, had dinner and had breakfast. In the morning we flew to the small town and continued the march. The photos accompany“

“This was our first time visiting this great town. We looked for a place to eat a good dinner and liked the look of this place. Once inside, we were greeted by Kelly. She sat us and we had a drink in our hand very shortly. The menu had quite a splendid selection and we Ordered a few entrees. Each choice was so tasty we ordered a few more to try. Kelly worked her tail off to keep us satisfied and we were. We recommend everyone stop by and dine there as well! Thank you Kelly and the staff! We'll be back!!“

“Stumbled upon this place while visiting Murphy's for the day. I had never heard of it and we thought a nice cold drink would be good for such a hot day. The decor is cute. We were able to get 2 seats at the bar. We sat and were ignored for about 10 mins. Then one of the girls told us to scan the bar code to see the menu. This day they were not busy. There was a table of 6 guest and us. We were about to walk out for being ignored, and thats when the girl came to take our order. I liked the variety of drinks as well as serving Beer. It's a place I could take my husband. We ordered our drinks and Brie cheese. We got our drinks but no cheese. She forgot about it and 20 mins later we had to remind her. I enjoyed watching her make the drinks and the fresh products. They said they just opened one in Lodi, and hoping to have better luck there.“
