My recent visit to the Red Onion Grill left me thoroughly impressed. The atmosphere was welcoming, the service top-notch and the food, simply divine.I opted for the salmon and ravioli dishes, both of which exceeded my expectations. The salmon was cooked to perfection, while the ravioli was bursting with flavor.Overall Red Onion Grill offers a fantastic dining experience.

We like Red Onion quite a bit. In the summer we like to sit on the deck and in the winter it is cosy and quiet indoors. There really are only two restaurants within the peninsula area; more in the Hamilton Branch area, but if we want to stay close in we alternate between Il Lago and the Red Onion. Il Lago is loud and fun but not a good place if you want to have good conversations due to the noise level. We like the variety of food at Red Onion (something besides pizza) and the peace to talk with friends. That is in large part because the bar is far away from the restaurant dining, unlike Il Lago. So those drinking a lot and having fun are at the bar. That makes for a more quiet restaurant. Yay. All depends on what you are seeking on a particular night.

Good food and service. We sat outside. Bees were annoying, but our server tried to help. We did have a great time. Food is wonderful. The dessert scrumptious.

Our server was phenomenal. She was helpful, attentive, and had a great sense of humor. Our salad with steak was delicious. The fish and chips were some of the best I have had since visiting Ireland and Great Britain. Drinks were good and strong. Skip the restaurants in Chester and eat here.

We thoroughly enjoyed our birthday dinner at the Red Onion Grill. Food was very good, service was wonderful, and the desserts were amazing, especially the mango ice cream in a white chocolate shell. We will definitely be back!

We took our out of the area family out to red onion and we all enjoyed the great food, service and the atmosphere of the Almanor peninsula.

Hate being the guy to complain but it wasn't that great. The menu was pretty odd. I think it would be hard to eat here of you had any gluten allergies or kids with you. I heard a party asking about GF options and they said order the burger with no bun I usually like to order a salad when we go out to dinner. They had either a Caesar or house salad as an option but didn't have either available so I winged it and went with the carnitas. Not very good. Served cold and sent them back. Came back a bit warmer but nothing that was enjoyable.

I had the ravioli and it was so good that we had to come back so that we could all have it. Wonderful food, great service, and I look forward to the next time that we’re able dine here.

Even a 1 Star is too much. Service strange. Food beyond mediocre. Appetizer Calamari 17 bucks was hard breaded from freezer to table . Appetizer Shishito peppers awful Just some charred tasteless peppers which we after three bites did not finish for 12 bucks. Fish&Chips 25 bucks tasted like frozen fish sticks that came with luke warm fries. Waited for the ketchup it never came and when we pointed it out to the waitress she said Oh ketchup? Never apologized. RibEye at 46 bucks came with 3 pieces of Asparagus and the garlic mashed was so overly salted we could not eat it. Steak was very fatty but cooked medium rare as requested. They did bring us 4 a bread basket with two rolls and honestly it was so hard we could not take it apart with our fingers. When we asked for more bread they said it was baking in the oven and would be done in 27 minutes. Awful awful place. Totally overpriced. We feel bad for the people that live there almost no dining options around. The decor has zero ambience . We had planned to order the tiramisu before we came but after the awful food we decided against it. Upon leaving we did see someone have one on their plate it looked like a spiced sponge cake and we know our tiramisu from our italy trips. Save your money and cook at home!

The service was extremely slow. Our waitress Mandy brought out the wrong appetizer and when we kindly asked for the right one we overheard her talking badly in the kitchen about how we were wrong. Our drinks were almost undrinkable and she brought them out to the wrong table at first. I watched the table touch our drinks and then she brought them to us after they were touched by other customers. The food was subpar, not bad just pretty bland. Waited over 40 mins for the check and eventually the owner came over and asked if we wanted water but we just said the check please.
