Not terrible, but $28 for a buffet breakfast that is the same free breakfast at other Marriotts is unnecessarily expensive. Save the money and go to The Breakfast Bar for better service and food.

Chill bar area for a quick drink and bite. Has TVs to catch up on the currents sports. The outside area has fire places and has a nice chill vibe.

Just stayed here on March 12th and had already paid for our room. When we get to the hotel they charge my card again for the hotel room. I wasn't aware, when I get to my room I noticed the charge. I asked about it, they informed me they had reversed it. I asked why they charged me again for the room? The answer I got was it's complicated. They also put a charge on my card for incidentals and parking. Which I understand, this is the norm. They let me know that the charge for the room would be reversed in about 5 days. I call its been over a week and the charge has not been removed. They had no one available to help me. They asked that I call back. I asked to speak with a manager. He told me it's out of his hands. I would need to speak with the account manager. Waiting on a call back.

1000$ room a night for a large nice suite and no water no snacks in the room whatsoever. Not even for purchase

UPDATE: received a call from Helena yesterday from the hotel and she truly understood our frustrating experience. I am updating to 3 stars just based on her call alone as all it takes it a little humility to go a long way in my book. An apology and understanding was really what lacked in this experience and she delivered that. Will I return to this particular Marriott? Probably not, but I will try another Marriott and give them a chance at redemption. We received a notification from the bonvoy Marriott app that our room was ready at 3:15. When we arrived at 3:45 we were told it would be ready around 4. When we checked back with the front desk around 4:15 and they said it would be another 30 minutes. They gave us a $20 voucher (which doesn't even cover a round of drinks) which had a room number 702 on it. When we again checked to see if it was ready at 5, they said it wasn't and couldn't even give a time frame. How can you not give a time frame? Will we get a room in an hour, two, will we get one tonight at all?! Sherry at the front desk was the only one who was kind and apologetic. Nick the manager came over and offered a 10% discount for our stay which only equaled $150. We were missing a festival down the street where our tickets cost $200 each. This amount in no way made up for the inconvenience, experience, and money lost. We eventually got the keys to the room at 5:45, while the people who were previously in our room were in front of us in line. We specifically heard her say room 702, which was the room we eventually got. We asked her and she said she checked out a little bit ago. So we had someone with a very late check out in our room and this was not communicated to us. Our negative experience did not end there. When we went to check out we explained the situation and just wanted to make sure our 10% was included. She immediately said we don't do that I don't know who said that. I motioned to Nick standing at the computer next to her that he did. She was extremely rude and made us feel like an inconvenience. To be quite honest we felt like a nuisance the entire time when we were polite and patient through out the ordeal. We also spent more than $100 eating and drinking in the lobby while we waited. Couldn't even use the voucher because we had to actually have the room before we could use it (words from the server). I spoke with corporate, Alexander, on the phone when this all went down and he was quite unhelpful. Said he wasn't authorized to do much more and had no training in regards to why the app said our room was ready when it wasn't. Call at 4:47 pm for 14 minutes Feburary 4th, if it was recorded you can check. Especially since he promised someone would be reaching out this week and it's Friday the 11th and I've received no such call. I most likely will never stay at a Marriott with this lack of humility and professionalism. P.S: As other reviews state, TV does not work. We had one bath and hand towel between the 2 of us. Bed is uncomfortable, the pillows provide absolutely no neck support. No extra toilet paper provided, we had 2 half used rolls when we checked in. For $400 a night this is absolutely insane.

I travel a lot, so when I saw what a disappointment.. believe me, it was. A Sunday night stay for a standard room @$400, I expected so much more from a Marriott establishments. The TV did not work "no signal", and when calling the front desk they said it was the service provider affecting the entire area. Hard to believe when it didn't work from check in to check out. Yet the bar tv and other patrons had no issues. The toilet handle gets stuck so you hear the water running if you don't adjust it back. Not fun when you're back in bed after a 3am bladder call and have to fix it again. The bathroom sink. No hot water available because the hot water handle just spins and spins. We had to use the hot water from the bath faucet. I wanted to speak to management upon check out, and opted to do so IF we were asked by the front desk about "how was your stay". We were never asked. Management: Room #811, if anyone is interested in making the repairs needed. I would not recommend to anyone a stay at this hotel.

Look, it's a nice hotel. The lobby is great and the staff is sweet. But parking is $36 and Wifi is $15 per day. We just finished a three day stay at the Best Western hotel at the Convention Center. It was in a hip little downtown area with grocery stores and fantastic restaurants in walking distance. Had a nice king suite with free wifi, free breakfast and free parking. The Renaissance cost more for a smaller room with less service. I wanted to stay in a more upscale hotel on my last night in Long Beach. Now I wish I'd stayed at the previous place.

Loved it. Had a nice nights sleep in a great room with a nice view. Large tub which is always a bonus for me. Restaurants open! Masking required. Smoke free facility

John was amazing and helpful in our need of travel! We tried to go to the Hilton first out of convenience , and they were terrible. So we ended up at the renaissance and thankfully we did. John was amazing and helpful when we were tired and stressed Thank you so much

Worst Bonvoy hotel based on service! I checked in and was treated like a peasant because I had a shirt and shorts on. Brightened up a little when he saw I was Gold Bonvoy member. I checked in early to get the mobile key. Did not get offered one or even given one. Never received the amenities I pre selected. The next night I get locked out of my room at 10:00pm because a battery went out. Go downstairs to lobby to get tell them my key doesn't work and all the issues. I finally get a mobile key on the last night. I go back up to use the new keys I can't get in. I have to go back down and 20 mins later get into my room. Worst experience and even felt judged by the clothes that I was wearing and my race. I am financially healthy and easily make more than the staff combined at the front desk. My issue is the treatment and service provided at this hotel. Not happy to writing about Marriott, when the majority of their locations are top notch. No one cares here. Try somewhere else! I finally read some of the other reviews. I think we have a common theme. Consistently inconsistent, especially towards minorities. So if you are not a person of minority, I would stay somewhere else. For the record, I don't believe this a Marriott issue, rather than this specific hotel and staff that is an area of opportunity.

No bugs, clean, convenient location, convenient parking and a Starbucks attached. Perfect for me.

Very nice hotel in perfect location to walk to waterfront locations, shopping, and restaurants. Came here during a weekend where most of the hotel was booked for a huge wedding. Still was able to get upgraded to a larger room thanks to my Marriott elite status. Appreciate the friendly staff who provided great recommendations. Lounge was closed so we were provided free breakfast in the restaurant downstairs. Food was pretty good! Water bottles provided at the front desk. Room was very clean and spacious. Nice comfortable bed and rooms were pretty quiet. They have their own parking garage that you can self park in. In the evenings there are several yummy food trucks that set up on the street right in front of the hotel. So you have lots of food and dessert options right there. Easy to walk to the shopping and waterfront attractions. And easy to hop in your car if you need to go elsewhere on the highway.

The staff was very kind out entire stay! The hotel is very clean and nicely located. You do have to pay for parking but it isn't a bad price for it. Also, I forgot my wallet in the hotel when we left. We drove 12 hours home and when I got home I realized. They very kindly offered to mail my wallet to my house (I paid for shipping). It arrived quickly and nothing was missing. The cleaning staff was very honest.
