Hidden gem. Had a great time here with my son (22) watching a friends band - Shorts Swinging Coconuts! Strong drinks and enjoyed the bbq pork sliders. Awesome atmosphere. Check out the lava black light floor grout, lava chair and my all time favorite the pufferfish lights. You'd never find this place on your own, as semi secret downstairs location. Cool mix of old people having a night out and young people learning about a place in time! Go!

We came here a few weeks ago, and really enjoyed it. It was Saturday night, Tiki themed music, not too crowded. Shelby made the best drinks for sure. Enjoyed the decor and atmosphere. Minus one star because the bar and tables were left dirty for a while. There were plenty of staff and it wasn't busy, but when we'd go up to order at the bar, there were food crumbs all over and the menus were sticky. If they can clean up their act, would recommend.

Typical yummy island style drinks. Food was okay. I'd go there more for the drinks. The music can get very loud, if that's something you're not into. The decor and ambience is awesome. Definitely a place worth checking out. Not sure I'd go a second time though

What a delightful treasure in Downtown Long Beach. Everyone was welcoming and friendly! The decor is A1. We happened to show up on karaoke night, which was a blast. Will return soon.

tl;dr - astonishingly loud music ruins an otherwise fun vibe. Go deaf, young tiki-goer!The actual lounge is cool, and the Tiki vibe is fun. The drinks were quite good and the one female bartender was very on-point. She seemed pretty stressed and was handling the bulk of the drink orders. The other guys, not so much. There were a sprinkling of customers in the place, maybe 20 tops at the most crowded. It was a a Sunday night and there was a rockabilly band playing; they played well but it was insanely loud. I measured 90-95 dB when I briefly checked but I was at the bar, well away from the stage, and I am betting it peaked louder than that. It was so loud I couldn't hear the bartender when I was ordering a drink. It was so loud I struggled to hear the person I was with -- and we were at the back of the place away from the stage. This level of sound is not safe for anyone inside the establishment, and it probably violates local ordinances. I know it would be in Los Angeles. Further, it violates OSHA's permissible exposure limit (PEL), which is 90dB. Keep in mind that every 5dB increase halves the amount of time exposure is safe, so if it was really 95dB the safe limit is 4 hours. It's also worth noting that OSHA isn't about preventing hearing loss; those levels are far lower. ("NIOSH recommends wearing hearing protection whenever noise levels exceed 85 dBA, regardless of how long the sound lasts.") You only have one set of ears -- you'll have to decide for yourself how good the drinks must be for deafness to be worth it.Irrespective of the actual sound level risk, they really need to "read the room" -- a Sunday night with a handful of customers doesn't require the Marshall stacks turned to 11.

They need a service overhaul. made a reservation. Arrived. had to track down a server who said "Sure just go there." Waited around 20 minutes for a beer. Even longer for a cocktail. Our server came up telling us he was finishing his shift so we closed out with him. No other server replaced him so we just left.

Food and drinks are too expensive for what you get. The menu is also really small and not accommodating to our vegetarian friend. Drinks took forever to come out. The server didnt give us back our debit card after we paid and when we asked for it, it was suddenly lost and they couldn't find it. We had to cancel the card and order a new one.

The band playing was so sound it was insane, I could not even hear people screaming at me trying to talk to me because it was so loud, other than that the drinks are always good and the sliders were amazing, but it would've been more enjoyable if the music wasn't destroying my ears

My girlfriends and I were looking forward to a night out after such a long time not seeing each other. I have been here a few times before so I recommended this place, unfortunately the experience wasn't a good one. We made a reservation with ample time and were so excited. When we arrived there was no one at the door to greet us like there usually is, I thought well maybe because they're not busy no one is there. We talked to the bar tender and he said we can order drinks with him but need to wait for the manager to come down so we can be seated. We ordered a drink at the bar and waited. Every time we saw someone new that looked like they worked there we asked just to be told they didn't work there and were only there to work the event. About an hour passed and still nothing, so we asked the bar tender again if we could just be seated and finally were given the ok. As soon as we sat down we were told by one of the women hosting the event that we couldn't sit there because we didn't pay the fee. Thankfully by that point the bar tender took enough pity on us to tell her she couldn't move us. We waited another 20-25 minutes to be attended at our table and nothing happened so at this point we decided to go somewhere else. Overall the 1 round of drinks we got at the bar were delicious. The bartender was great and overworked but trying his best. We never saw the manager and didn't see anyone else that worked there, aside from the event employees. Unfortunately I don't think we will be coming here anytime soon.

First of all the place is beautifully decorated. We traveled two hours to go here with such a disappointment. We had reservations but no host and all booth were taken. So we found a table near back area away from stage. Our server came over about 30 mins after waiting and seemed very bothered to be working. We ordered drinks and food all at once, he started to talk to us like we were young adults and gave us rules on drinking.... Now our group was in there mid 40's and 50's. Then about 10 mins later he asked if we could move for a reservation, but we were also a reservation so I didn't understand. Normally I would have but he wanted to put us right in front of the live band, we were a group of 7 and talking so we said no because we wouldn't be able to hear eachother. He was very upset. Our drinks and food were brought out and we went about an hour and a half we no sight of our server. He went behind bar and never came back. We were planing on having some drinks and having fun but never ordered more rounds. A waste of time, service sucks!!!!

Amazing "secret" tiki bar below Shannon's on Pine in DT LB! Awesome cocktails, great food menu, Surf/Rockabilly live music, and a true tiki bar experience (complete with waterfalls, a lava floor, tropical storm effects, and Pele's throne)! A must-do in LBC!

This is a super cool bar. The drinks are good and the bartenders are helpful if you don't know what you want. The vibe inside is so cool with fake clouds and dim lighting and a "lava" floor that lights up. It's a super fun bar.

Horrible, on new years day I looked on their website and saw that they open at 4 PM and made a reservation for 515. I spent $30 on an Uber and showed up at five and the doors were closed. I called their phone and the lady answered and I asked why they were closed and she said that they open at 8 PM and that she canceled all the reservations, the day before, but I had made a reservation that day, and received no email stating that they would be closed. Luckily, there is another tiki bar around the corner called bamboo club. I can never go there again or trust that they would be open.
