Today I went to south quarters for lunch. Upon arriving at the restaurant my expectations immediately took a dip. I will say the employee that handled me was pretty rude. The food is definitely a 4 star but the brisket is probably the worst item on the menu. It's rubbery, I would recommend going for the ribs. The rice & beans were really good though. The location isn't the best and the customer service wasn't good resulting in a 3 star review. However, I will be back and hopefully get a better experience.

I ordered 2 combo meals. Brisket tasted old and reheated and was tough and chewy, Mac and cheese was disgusting and also tasted old, same with the potato salad. I basically wasted 40 because the only thing edible was the greens, they were good. And the red beans and rice was decent. The rest was so bad it was inedible.

I love South Quarters Cuisine!! They never fail to hit it out the park! On my first visit I purchased a slab of ribs ( fall off the bone tender), and a pound of the beef (juicy, tender, smoked to perfection). It was Love at First Bite!! Two weeks later I was back for another slab of ribs. My plan is to visit every two weeks. Whomever gave this eatery a 4.3 stars obviously doesn't have a clue about great barbeque and food. Thanks Corey (and staff) for consistently providing great barbeque cuisine!

I have to admit I wasn't sure about this place but the reviews were so good, I had to give it a try - and so glad we did. It was excellent BBQ with a genuine smoke flavor without being dry as often happens. Too many BBQ places sacrifice the moist and juicy meat for more smoke - but why? Dry meat doesn't equal better meat. This place gets it right - and it's in the middle of an Air Force Exchange! By the way, anyone can eat there. FOOD: Got a variety of stuff between my wife and I. Had to try the fried chicken and it lived up to the hype. The flavor in the crust is what really made it. And because it was cut thin, it had the right balance between crust and meat. We also tried the ribs and brisket - both were nicely done. Good smoke while still being tasty and NOT dry. The sauce was good too. A nice balance between sweet and spicy. I had the fries, potato salad, and hush puppies. The puppies could have been a bit bigger so there was a better balance between crispy outer crust and the soft middle, but they were still good. I loved the fries and potato salad. SERVICE: Should have worn gloves while putting together the food, but other than that, very nice, quick, and done right. Polite too! COST: Great cost for what you get. Nice big helpings - definitely walked away full!

My boy told me about this spot, so I gave it a try. My expectations wasn't that high to be honest. If I can't see the grill I'm usually skeptical about it but boy I boy. It tasted hella good! Got the brisket and chicken with the red beans and rice with collard greens. ??? Didn't expect that at 10am. Give it a shot their menu is wide!

I would pick no star but forced. Our waitress was not friendly. Was upset when I asked if she could wipe down the table/chairs that had food particles from previous customers. Did a bad job of wiping and I asked to give me towel and I will do it. Brought our food but made us wait 5-7 mins for utensils. Red beans and rice weren't cooked through. Really need to step up on seasoning. Cannot accommodate more than 8 people which was disappointing considering we traveled from out of town to be together for special occasion.

Well we had heard about this place over the radio KDEE. They are.opened from 9am-3 pm. I got there around 11:15. I was kind of disappointed. Right away the stereotypes of soul food restaurants set in. Out of the main meats. No CATFISH, No RIBS!! They said they had tilapia....Tilapia?!! That was not even listed on the menu!! So any way I ordered the 2 meats 2 sides. Tilapia and smoked chicken. Long story short...Red beans and Rice, Collard greens were DELICIOUS......TILAPIA AND CHICKEN.....BOTH UNDER COOKED. Smoked doesn't mean pink inside! I will give Southern Quarters another chance because the 2 side dishes were so good.To the restaurant: Try to always stock up on Catfish and especially never run out of RIBS!!

I had the brisket lunch combo with fried okra. Fantastic! Large portions for an excellent price. Brisket was hot and moist with a nice smokey flavor, very impressed. I'm normally not a bbq sauce fan but theirs is not overly sweet, it's got a more subtle flavor that compliments rather than overwhelms. Staff is incredibly polite and professional, great experience,, gonna be back often.

The food was authentic and delicious. The barbecue sauce was amazing. I loved the brisket, hot link, okra and collared greens. My friend had chicken with rice beans and it was the best! Owner is very friendly and attentive.

Best chicken sandwich I’ve had since leaving the south. Seriously. Skip all the overpriced chair stores and head over to south quarters. I stopped in with my boys on a Saturday morning on our way to the McClellan air museum. The boys split a short stack plate and I had the chicken sandwich. Btw DO NOT SKPI ON THE SAUCE!

I got the pulled pork sandwich and it was decent. I also got the 2 meat meal, Chicken and Brisket with Mac and Cheese and Potato salad. First the chicken was dry like it was cooked a couples day ago and reheated. Just awful. The sauce was ok. The brisket was decent, but it just wasn't good. The sides were awful. Mac and cheese was terrible I didn't taste the cheese and it felt like I was eating reheated mac and cheese. Potato salad had to much pickle or relish. Just awful. I wouldn't recommend this place.

I was a little surprised, it's actually part of the commissary/PX complex at McClellan. My friend's chopped BBQ beef sandwich was yummy. My catfish was more breading than fish. Desserts were really good. I'll go back.
