It's got a limited menu but the items on it are great, it's a new family run restaurant and it's got good service. Definitely a place to check out for Mexican food in Merced

Found this gem while visiting Merced for the first time and grateful we chose to pay a visit. We were greeted with a friendly welcome, given warm tortilla chips along with a homemade salsa to start. The menu is limited in choices compared to other Mexican restaurants we visit, but don’t let that deter you! Everything we ordered was all delicious. All dishes were packed with flavor!We were lucky enough to talk with the owner/chef Ernie while we were there, this has been a family business for years and he is now fortunate enough to live out his dream of owning a restaurant and his family is very proud and excited for him. Keep up the great work Ernie and family and continue to bring the New Mexico flavors to Northern California. As a AZ native and very familiar with New Mexican style food it was a blessing to see so far away from home.Do yourself a favor and don’t leave without dessert! The churro sundae is awesome! Thanks again Ernie! We will be back!

We were passing through Merced on our way home to Bakersfield. We stopped at Chiquitas because of the reviews. The server was amazing and the food was delicious and exceeded our expectations. The owner/chef was friendly and came out to our table to visit after cooking our meal.

Wonderful meal and hosts. Some of the best Mexican I’ve had. Fresh made tortilla chips with amazing salsa need to be bagged and mass produced.

We enjoyed there asada tacos. Came with rice and refried beans. My husband normally won't eat the rice, he is very picky. He loved the rice and refried beans. My daughter and I shared a nacho plate which was very good. Very big, we both ate from it and had some left to take home. They make their own chips and salsa. We will definitely be going back. Very friendly.

AMAZING customer service and even better food!! Just opened during COVID so you should definitely support them. We happened to be the only ones left in there so got to talk with chef and employees who were so nice!! So amazing!!
Hands down the best meal and service I’ve had in a long time. I have never written a food review in my life, but this place was so amazing that I’m writing one. I was just passing through Merced and decided to stop, and boy am I happy that I did. The restaurant was a little hard to find (we circled past it about 5 times) but I am so happy we tried a sixth time (it feels like divine intervention). The servers and chef are so kind and make it feel like you’re eating with close friends and family. The food is authentic and delicious and will have you eating more even when you can’t continue. It’s keeps getting better with every course and every moment. Definitely a hole in the wall but in the best way possible. Make sure you stop by on your way through Merced.
