The food and service is always good here. Even though they are under new management, they have kept the nice details and quality of food! Happy hour at the bar is also a nice option (4-6 I think?) and there is a table that has a fire in the bar so we will definitely try to reserve that next time we go! There is also outdoor seating on the patio and dogs are allowed. I have taken my dog out there with my family on 2 occasions and it worked out great. They have propane heaters, so we were comfortable, even though it was cold Outside.

slow, slow, slow! I felt abandoned after being seated. finally, I was approached by the waitress, made my order and then waited 10 minutes for the beverage, 23 minutes later my food arrived and I was disappointed in the beef Kushiyaki. The nigiri was good but after the long wait it seemed pedestrian. Big bucks for a long wait and average fare!

Rediscovered Robata. Just had one of the best lunches in Marin at the best price. Excellent service. And for two of us it was a joy. This little restaurant is a gem. It's not on the beaten track for sure. And it's rather curious because you can't tell from the outside that on the inside, it's quite charming...little booths for your private party of 2 to 4. The Bento boxes are delicious and served with salad and miso soup. My companion had grilled chicken and I had teriyaki salmon and it was melt in your mouth delicious. It also comes with fresh vegetable and sushi, of course, as well as rice and is beautifully presented. I was impressed obviously. For about $20 a person you're going to walk out with a very good experience. and we also had a fresh Hamachi roll with crispy tempura on top. My lunch companion said it was one of the best he has ever had. I would agree. So I recommend it. And I'm very particular about my Japanese food. The service was smiley and fun. What more could you possibly ask for in a little restaurant in Marin? I'll go back.

The worst sushi I've ever had in Marin. Even the salmon slices were awful. We bought the 65 dollar sashimi 20 piece. Where are you guys getting the fish from? What a waste of money. All the fish was rubbery, most of it tasted like dirt. I am honestly so disappointed. The staff was nice and friendly but I am never eating here again

Great space but food is lacking. It's almost too expensive for the quality of fish they serve. The wasabi is a strange green and shumai tasted very fishy. I know it's a tough time for restaurants and honestly the entire Marin restaurant scene is lacking but maybe narrow down the menu and improve the quality? I

The food was ok, nothing special really. The ambiance was lacking... no music.. just loud ppl talking and dishes clanking. The reason I'm writing this review tho is because the service was sooo slow. Oof. The food was pretty expensive as well. Meh.

The service was great! The waiter was friendly and attentive! The fish was nice and fresh! The only thing they need to improve on is the miso soup. It needs a bit more flavor. Other than that my family and I had a lovely time!

The fish was so delightfully undercooked that it practically danced on my taste buds, leaving them intrigued and excited for the culinary adventure ahead. This place is a must-visit for sushi enthusiasts.

Amazing quality food Fast service and you can see them make the food ( not unfriendly if you necessarily but you can go see it) Ambiance is very wholesome and homey, wooden seats and tables, family friendly

It's been a few years since I have been here. I was customer #4 the 1st night they opened years ago. What a night that was. LOL. It was about 1:30 PM and I was early for a dental appointment in the same building. Having missed breakfast and lunch I had a brilliant Idea. The interior was very large and would accommodate parties easily. Robata. I was greeted at the front door by a young lady. Then I opted for a counter seating. I got the menus right away. Its fairly pricey here but the real estate and location is probably why. The ambiance has remained the same over the years. Stylish but still Japanese. Very clean here indeed. It's always fun to watch the chef at work. All behind the counter are friendly. My waiter Gregory was also friendly and very attentive. I gave him my order. I wanted a beer, typical with food in Japan. But because I was driving I told him I would pass. He was very nice to help me and brought me a half size glass. Thats good help. He got another sale and made me happy. I ordered the Cold Soba that arrives as a Bento type meal. Cold soba noodles with cold dipping sauce. The plater was very good and had nice eye appeal. Also on the plate was Japanese Style pickled vegetables and tempura. Yum. The tempura was perfection. Not overcooked on the inside and crispy on the outside. All meal going to other tables passed by me at my location. They all looked yummy. It was good to see that. I know i will come back. Thankyou Gregory and Team Robata.
