Our fav Shanghai restaurant closed, and our search for a new one brings us here. The rice cakes and seaweed fish was very very good. I so enjoyed lunch w/my friend that I brought my fam back for dinner the same week. The lion's head soup and green beans were delicious. We will be back to try more dishes. This mom pop establishment has friendly service but is limited in english. I suggest to take a look at the menu prior to arrival and then point to what you want on the english menu. A must try if you looking for good Shanghai!

Fresh and authentic flavors. A true mom and Pop but you need to speak Chinese or be prepared to go there and point at what you want. I have my mom call in my orders:) very friendly and accommodating also

Shanghai Gourmet - Arcadia, Los Angeles Shanghai Gourmet is a traditional Chinese restaurant that you can find at the Mon-Arc Center in Arcadia, Los Angeles. The place has the feel of an authentic Chinese restaurant in California, a great place to bring the family, and the staff was very friendly. Their pork 'was fall off the bone' good, the jalapeno beef was tender and the seaweed fish, coated by a seaweed batter and deep fried, offers a crispy surface and a moisty inside.

Super authentic flavors and delicious food! I love coming here the only problem is I don't speak Chinese so I either have my mom call in takeout or I go in person and point at the things I want. Super friendly and fast too , well worth it!

Shanghainese food is near and dear to my heart! We love their kalimeris indica (ma lan), lion's head meatballs (with crab paste inside!), braised pork hock (ti pang), and spring rolls. Comfort food to the max!!

My family came from Shanghai and we have been ordering Shanghainese food in Shanghai Gourmet for 8 years, ever since I start living in Arcadia. The food is wonderful and very authentic. While the attitude of the owner can be perceived as impolite, it's pretty typical way of communication for Shanghainese. It's one of the best Shanghai food place around this area and in my opinion better than Shanghailander.

The best spot for Shanghainese comfort food. I've been going here for years with my family.

My go-to for affordable authentic Chinese food to-go. The quality never fails. Delicious.

Super bad service attitude! 3mins waiting to be seated and 10 mins taking order. The server asked us to hurry up after taking 20 seconds to order. So we just walked out and will not come back again.

I've been there a few times, the food is excellent and very reasonable. The place is relatively clean. I've been to Shanghai and the food is very much on parr. My unfortunate negative review pertains to an INSANE server who was nasty and tried to rip me off. She threw the food down in front of us, she wouldn't bring rice, I had to plead practically with her to bring me water, and then she tried to rip me off by overcharging my credit card $30. She then demanded her tip in cash. I'm not Chinese, but I do know some words so I tried to speak to her in mandarin because she refused to make any attempt to communicate in English. She mocked my mandarin and laughed at me. I really should have walked out, but the food is good and the other times I was there the lady who served was very pleasant. The other customers in the room apologized for her and were embarrassed. They promised me that Shanghai people were not usually that way. I told them I know because I was there. Shanghai people have a reputation for being very nice. She was crazy!!!!! Get your food togo and pay in cash only. The food is excellent.

Favorite restaurant for a quick dinner takeout! Love the bamboo stir fried with shepherds purse (qi cai shun) and the Shanghai rice cakes. The cold appetizers are wonderful too. The restaurant owners are incredibly kind and patient with my rapidly deteriorating Mandarin. So happy they exist, and so happy to support them.
