The Food is good. We ordered the Bitter Squash Egg and Pepper with sausage meat. They were tasty but a bit oily. The service could be improved as the waitresses speak little to no english. And they forgot what we ordered and had to ask us to order again after 10-15 minutes at the table. It's sort of a hole in the wall place.
Specialty crispy BBQ suckling pig, steamed fresh oysters in black bean sauce, juicy steamed minced pork with salted duck egg....these are just a small delicious preview of their diverse menu. This gem in Monterey Park offers Hong Kong BBQ and Chiu Chow style Chinese food. Their food tends to be very rich and full of flavors. Their staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Sham Tseng is a bit cramped, but otherwise one of the best places to go for Cantonese cuisine. The deli counter in front of the restaurant is an awesome sight, with everything from a half of a roasted pig hanging on a hook along with geese and ducks, to excellent pork ribs and char siu. The menu is extensive and the food is always well -prepared. Service is fine and prices are reasonable.
