Maybe it’s the fried rice I ordered but it was very bland and dry. Hope the other dishes are better.

We just had a fabulous lunch at Burma Bites on Telegraph Avenue in Oakland. The Rainbow Salad was phenomenal! We also ordered the fried string beans that were also perfectly prepared crisp and seasoned.

We ordered for tea leaf salad. Best salad ever, great quantity and very delicious taste. I would highly recommend this place

I love the coconut rice with mint chicken, it's a combination of sweet rice with spicy chicken that is awesome.

Garlic fries are amazing. Fiery tofu was good too. Garlic noodles were soggy and gross, like overcooked spaghetti. Weird that they are completely different from Superstar's recipe even though they are supposedly the same brand/owners. Fried rice was pretty boring and bland, might as well just get a side of plain rice for 1/4 of the price.

This was a delightful surprise. Very tasty chicken "sando". Great spices and flavor. The atmosphere is "street food" and they get 4 stars for being authentic

My bf and I made a pit stop here during date night in Temescal. The surrounding area is a very fun place to walk around and Burma is right next to North Star; they have a joint patio area right outside which makes it perfect for casual dining. We got the Platha & Dip which tasted amazing. The chicken was soft and tender and the Platha has such a unique texture that went great with the curry dip. The service was very quick.

I used to come here a lot so decided to try again because Burma Superstar wasn't open. Got some soup and now have food poisoning. Also the soup was bland so not even worth me dying in my bathroom. Don't do it.

Amazing lunch spot! The basil chicken with coconut rice is fresh, flavorful, and good lunch portion - especially if you add the salad for $1.50

Food is great, perfect for when you want burma superstar but don't want to wait for a table. Any of the entrees are delicious.

Whenever I'm in the area this is an absolute must go to restaurant for me. Everything is good, but the garlic fries are the best I've ever ever ever ever ever tasted. They are not soggy like most other garlic fries. They say crispy and they are absolutely flavorful. I definitely recommend them. I Really like ginger beer So that combination is a good one for me.

Love Burmese food but don't have time to sit down at Burma Superstar? Have no fear, Burma Bites is here! Featuring the same key menu items that pull me back to their restaurants, both in the east bay and SF, you can't go wrong with this food to go. Make sure to try the Tea Leaf Salad, it's *amazing*! I've also quite enjoyed their Samosas, Rainbow Salad, and Popcorn Chicken. The Spicy Noodles were a bit disappointing--too sweet, too little spicy. But one dish I didn't like does not diminish how great and delicious the other food has been! Staff was sweet and friendly, but this is a takeout place so don't expect a delightful set of interactions or cozy atmosphere. That's not what you're here for, go to the restaurant if that's what you want. :)

I've been going to Burma Bites since they opened and have witnessed their evolution over the past few years. This review is not about their food (which is usually quite good), but about the changes, mostly in portion size and cost.Originally you could order a nice dish that came with chicken or beef (+$2), rice and string beans for around $18 with generous portions sizes. I was in heaven living down the street and eating there at least once a week and could usually get 2 meals out of one order. Then they raised the prices; fair enough as it was a super deal to begin with. Then they made it a "bowl" with much smaller portions of protein and rice, no string beans, but an OK little side salad in a small carton (which was usually only about 1/2 full). Then they removed the side salad and started charging $1 for it.Then they charged $1.50 for the side salad. Then they started charging $1 order processing fee for online orders.(They should be giving a credit of $1 for online orders as calling in an order uses up valuable employee time.)Now no beef dishes.Almost all of these changes happened far before inflation became so high and seems to be their business model; increasing charges while decreasing portion size and expenses.FYI the A La Carte order of Wok-Tossed Chili Chicken was a total $28.54 (no rice - 10% tip). This is just too expensive for what it is.There are too many great restaurants in this area. and unfortunately this is probably my final trip to BB where every visit I'm again disappointed.
