Town Bar & Lounge Gay Bar • $
2001 Broadway Suite 100C, Oakland

“My girlfriends and I tried the lounge for a long overdue catchup. Everything about this spot was fantastic! The bartender, ambiance, drinks. All the other patrons were friendly. They have board games and cards available and small packaged snacks for sale. I can't wait to go back. Oh!! Bomb DJ.“

“Definitely an upscale hole in the wall bar. As part of a gay pride pub crawl, I enjoyed the bar. Super cute. Not big people friendly in the sense that it is very narrow. Liked the stage and small dance floor. Had instruments so I assume they have live music. Major plus. Cute back outdoor patio. Has a sidewalk patio. Also a plus. Didn't get 5 stars because it seemed unprepared for the pub crawl crowd.“

White Horse Inn Bar • $
6551 Telegraph Ave, Oakland

“Me and my uncle went to get some quite alright vegan tacos down the block. No dine in here. Only take out. We don't live in this hood. What to do? We rolled up to the White Horse Bar. I spent a month in White Horse in the Yukon in northern Canada near Alaska doing a yoga intensive. The Yukon is where Jack London lived who wrote White Fang. There is Jack London square is in Oakland. Connect the dots. Everything is connected. Tendrel happens. Me and my uncle are both teetotalers aka we don't drink. We come to White Horse to enjoy vegan tacos and are grateful for staff here to let that happen. We loved the vibe here. My uncle got a ginger ale and got the pineapple juice. I didn't like the juice that much and only drank a third of it. First third like Neal Cassady's memoir. City Lights San Francisco. Legacy. Vibe here was amazing. Friendly folks. 49ers game on. We won against the Packers. My brother is in Wisconsin with sister in law and my nephew. Our team beat their team yet football is just a game. Game of life. We live it. A birthday party was happening. Vegan eats and vegan delights yet that was their party and we already have our vegan eats from next door that was quite alright aka four out of five stars. This bar is a five star for the vibe. My uncle played college basketball and I played high school basketball. We will come back again for vegan tacos and watch the Dubs on the tele would give this place bonus stars for that if Yelp allowed it. Peace.“

The Port Bar Gay Bar • $$
2023 Broadway, Oakland

“kayla is an amazing bartender and we had an fun experience at your establishment. I recommend this bar and I will be returning with my coworkers more often. The only concern I have is that there needs to be security available at an earlier time - we experience individuals who were not paying and arguing with the bartender just to take space and for free drinks. There were no security guards at the time m. She needs security and it needs to be a safer space .“

Qué Rico Nightclub Mexican • $

“The go to spot. The food is bomb dot com, so are the drinks. My girl Jackie puts on the best performances (and some of the other gworls too), I swear she's brought me to tears at the club from her shows before ?? most of the staff is lovely, however there are a couple of rude shawties on the team. Avoid them and you're good. Other than that, I've had no issues here. The DJs are usually pretty good too.“

Hole In the Wall Saloon Gay Bar • $
1369 Folsom St, San Francisco

“The island of misfit toys meets vintage grunge with a motocycle club built in. Not the place to break in your new white tennis sneakers. No judgements otherwise. Stays within the parameters of decency, but just barely and not during festival-time. Great artistic application to the myriad lights and mobiles above in the high ceiling. Rarely dull.“

“Only been here once while in town from EU, was for UHual all female night and the eye candy was fantastic. Hot women of all backgrounds, love it! Def going back just for that. Plus free before 9pm, good deal before things get too crowded. We loved that it wasn’t too crowded too. Enough people but also plenty of space to chill and dance.“

“I could not say enough good things about this bar! We live a few blocks away and it’s the perfect spot for happy hour, or drinks with friends later in the evening. The owner is so sweet and remembers us. The other bartenders remember us too and are so friendly. It’s dog-friendly and has a great selection of beers on tap and liquor. We go at least once a week. Thank you, Lone Star for being so welcoming!“
