For such a coffee-loving-looking place this did not deliver on what they set out to. I would not recommend Hive.Cappuccino was the main disappointment, the espresso was pulled too long leaving a sour taste and the milk temp was poorly controlled which was then quickly covered up by a plastic lid so clearly no attention to the milk foam/froth.Had an avocado toast that was alright.Service was below average, two younger individuals who seemingly did not want to be there.Location is fine I guess however there’s a distinct smell, like mold almost. The place look quite messy when it comes to how things are managed/organized behind the counter.

I think Brittany was her name. Seems like she called herself the owner. Really rude and disrespectable. Ariel was a worker there who took my order. Brittany"s sidebar remarks and quick temper towards ariel really caused the atmosphere to thicken. It wasn't until she invaded my space was then I let loose on her behavior. There were patrons ( if I can remember maybe 2-3) in the rear seating tables minding their own business. Really strange I guess they must see this type of behavior regularly. Management/ real owner needs to be notified of this. Brittany was right about one thing. That her exact words were "don't come back again". I WILL NEVER PATRONIZE this establishment again. As long as Brittany's there. Not even on a whim.

I like this place but idk if I can go back after this. I called in my order (breakfast sandwich) so it could be close to complete when I arrived. I paid and was told they were working on my order. 20 minutes went by and I asked if my food was ready. It has been sitting at the counter the entire time and no one told me. By the time I got back to eat, the sandwich was not even hot ? no utensils or napkins in the bag either. Very disappointed.

You want to have a good vibe and get away from all the current affairs in the news that's not the news people walking up and down the street looking crazy mental health issues You want to get away from that step in and get a really nice cup of coffee I I love any style of the mochas hot or cold I love the lavender white chocolate coffee There's a variety of coffees come in and treat your taste buds to something that's far left of Starbucks and Pete'sFeatures: Even though most places and counties have decided to let the masked situation just be go ahead don't wear one No please always wear one You don't know who's vaccinated who isn't and I respect each human being's decision that they make for themselves when going out in public sadly you jeopardize everybody else who you don't know, who may have a compromised immune system especially children and other people with disabilities so I'm mindful of that I always wear a mask always for respect of other human beings as well as myself.

The food was okay, nothing special. If you want to sit outside you must bring chairs from inside. Hot cocoa tastes like it is made from $1 box Dollar Tree.

This is one of my favorite cafes in Oakland. There are so many food and drink options, and they're all good. The people who work there are always so kind and nice to talk to. The indoor seating area is cozy but not cramped. The rose cardamom cold brew mocktail is my favorite ?

DELICIOUS F*CKING BISCUITS! And if you can't make it on the weekend for one, the Breakfast sandwich is just as phenomenal. The coffee here is honest to God the only coffee I've ever really enjoyed. Seriously, give them a try the vibe inside is also super chill. If you want to get a pastry and a coffee while you work on your computer this place truly is "The place to be". :)

Women owned = check Lavender and rose lattes = a must Their breakfast panini is also a must. It's so hard to find a good breakfast sandwich in the east bay that meets all my cheesy avocado and meat cravings but theirs is so delicious One more : sometimes they were a little lax with their masking which was freaked me out during the shelter in place. A little training and support for staff was probably needed so they weren't constantly touching their face , mouth , mask and then prepping food (yikes)

We've been coming to this place almost monthly for years. The staff you had working Saturday (4/23) morning were so incredibly rude for no reason whatsoever that my husband and I decided we probably wouldn't be back. It just seemed like they were tired of serving customers and just wanted everyone to leave which is strange since we tip well... It's also unfortunate because we live down the street and were looking forward to that place being a spot we'd go to often...

This cafe is great for meeting with people, because it has tables of all sizes. But, if you are a coffee person it is not enjoyable. My husband is a big coffee person and we love supporting local cafes, but the coffee my husband received tasted like the beans were burnt. I am a tea person, but I like to try a coffee drink with him every once and a while. I tried the mocha and it was completely over powered by whatever syrup they use, I even drank it down a little and had them add water and it was still not good. I suggest sticking with tea at this cafe.

If it wasn't for the, "out of nowhere," lady, abruptly, interjecting into my conversation with a important phone call, this first time visit was stellar, had amazing coffee and my breakfast sandwich was very delicious. 4 stars, instead of 5. Besides this one particular lady and or whoever inside coffee shop, wanted to have the nerve to ask this worker (possible manager) lady, to ask me to either stop my conversation entirely with my phone call or leave?!?! I was so appalled, I left half my sandwich, hopefully, hoping for this rude manager lady that came to me, would have to pick up my plate after I had lost my appetite and walked out and would have rather left this establishment, then to stay in the vicinity of such disrespectfulness. I've worked in customer service mainly all my life and she was certainly wrong, in my opinion. Now, I've lived in this Dimond district for years, as well, as others nearby. Ran all over in this neighborhood, even before this coffee shop was even dreamt or thought of. I will not be returning to this little gem of a coffee shop, if this poor, customer service "wannabe manager," works there. I'll take my coffee considerations now with dire skepticism. You'd think that if everyone else is on their computers typing away with headphones on while their music is blasting or others are soo much into their own conversations with their sit ins and phone calls, that they wouldn't be rudely eavesdropping and honing into my particular conversation, when in actuality they should be, what? Ah, yes, minding their own business!!! To the two kind & generous baristas on-site, before this scenario and desensitized wannabe manager lady, I sincerely thank you for the tasty coffee & half eaten fulfilling breakfast sandwich. I appreciate your service. Best of luck with this coffee shop and their endeavors. Whack!

Hive really is the place to bee. True news. My go to order is their seedful avocado toast with a poached egg (so damn good), a dirty chai with oat milk (the best in town), and a bag of fresh roasted beans (the bees knees or swarm are my favorites). The prices are reasonable, the staff is chill and accommodating. The owner is super nice. It's a decent place to post up and write, work, connect with a friend, read, or zone out for awhile. Thank you Hive for staying open through the pandemic and supporting our neighborhood with quality food, drinks and welcoming, inclusive place to be.

Great atmosphere and wonderful place to just sit and enjoy a cup of coffee. The sandwiches here are awesome too!

Wow I was buzzing after my first time eating here! Friendly staff, super affordable and yummy like a bee to pollen. Loved the breakfast sandwich added with bacon and avocado. Something about their lemon/dill aioli, hit the spot. Followed the breakfast sandwich with a biscuit and honey. Let's just say the biscuit was lusciously delicious and put me in sweet coma. But luckily I was able to quickly perk back up thanks to the free drip coffee you get with your Yelp checkin. Shoutout to Yelp as always knowing just what we need and the businesses to partner with.

Cute breakfast spot with yummy coffee. We got delicious lattes that were perfectly brewed and their breakfast sandwich. The breakfast sandwich had an "I could make this at home" vibe, but it hit the spot and was a perfect meal to start the day. I do wish there was some ham in it though for more protein.
