Sobo Ramen, located in Chinatown outside of the Renaissance plaza, offers a quiet and cozy dining experience with quick service. Their noodles are good, but the real standout is the flavorful broth. The Mayu ramen is especially noteworthy, with a tender and flavorful meat and a layer of depth and smokiness from the black garlic oil. However, the curry chicken katsu ramen was found to be less impressive, with a weak curry flavor and a single piece of chicken katsu. For those in the area, Sobo Ramen is a worthwhile stop for delicious food, and it's definitely worth a special trip if you're in the Downtown Oakland area.
