Ordered the sashimi appetizer over the phone for takeout on a late Saturday afternoon.Very efficient and friendly service.Given the location in a upscale area, I was surprised at the reasonableness of the price and the quality. Also, even though I didn't eat at site, it is a very pleasant intimate environment. If I'm ever in the area I would definitely come here again.

Haven't been to Oni Sushi, on La Salle, in ages and had a delightful and tasty lunch with a dear friend today. Creative sushi and rolls and all super fresh and unique. The service was equally outstanding and the restaurant was steadily full. Small and quieter restaurant environment, and easy to have quiet conversations. So glad to rediscover and will be making it a priority for frequent, return visits in the future. Highly recommended.

We loved this sushi place while we were visiting family off of Thornhill in Oakland. The pieces were large and fresh and the variety was great. We will return the next time that we visit family.

Small restaurant but not that busy on a weekday. Ordered a bento box with 3 itemsTonkatsu - okay. Kind of dry but sauce worksShrimp tempura - decent Sashimi - what? Toro? Amazing!!!Considering that they had toro for the sashimi option, definitely worth coming back!

5/5 For Sushi, Nigiri or Sashimi - Brick sized sashimi cuts. Great deal and good tasting fresh fish.2/5 for all other items including Bento. This is a Sushi (raw fish) joint. If you're looking for something other than raw fish I'd suggest going to Kotobuki or another joint. Come here for the raw stuff

Loved it. Very tasty, no nonsense rolls. The seaweed salad appetizer was killer and the bottle of unfiltered sake left me leaving this review of pure adoration for this new (to us) restaurant.

I can’t convey how fresh and generous the sushi cuts are. Used chopsticks and tea cup for scale. The sushi is really fresh and the sushi rice is cooked perfectly! Staff is also prompt, friendly. I’ll be back again.

Came here on a Friday afternoon for lunch. Got seated right away in this smaller sized restaurant. Was hungry and excited for Bento boxes! But unfortunately, these bento boxes didn't work out for my husband and I. Two item bento box : overcooked beef steak slathered in thick teriyaki sauce and a nice tasty fresh California Roll. My husband also got a three item bento box : overcooked beef steak slathered in thick teriyaki sauce; over fried pork tonatsu with a side of thick sauce that wasn't tasty with delicious sashimi. Mussel appetizer was okay. I think that the fish and sushi items were good, but the kitchen items were pretty poor, poor enough to drag down my review down to 2 stars.

What I really love about TGI ONI SUSHI is the service. Staff is very welcoming and attends to your needs. Food is great too i really love their lion king especially the buttery sauce in it. We usually get here around 6pm and we dont have to wait long to be seated. They also have a big tv which we thought to be an alternate for an aquarium. Love the vibe!
Stopped in here spontaneously an hour before closing and glad we did! Great Maguro Nigiri, and amazing bento boxes. Beef teriyaki was extremely tender. Our new go-to spot

5/13/23I'm kinda surprised I haven't written a review here yet. We've actually eaten here in person, and done both #DoorDash and takeout a few times. Guess just too busy.......and alas, also too busy today.But since we got some takeout recently, I just wanted to note that as usual their sushi/sashimi is spot on. Generous helpings of fresh succulent fish. Perfect sushi rice.We also ordered their Teriyaki Don which tasted great. Perfect thick teriyaki sauce, good rice, and very well flavored char grilled chicken. Could be juicier, but the flavor is intense and makes up for the lack of moisture.Their tempura sux though. Don't get it. Terribly bland and dull coating. Veegetables were either over or under cooked.I'll write more next time.OH, you should know, there are 2 sushi places in Montclair. The other SUCKS. This food was delicious! I've only eaten here the second time. The service was a bit slow and not that attentive to the customer but over all I enjoyed my experience. It's a small place inside so you might have to wait some time to get a seat.
