It's all vegan, it's consistently delicious, and Alice and her staff care about each customer. Kind of like having a home cooked meal, if you were lucky enough to grow up in a household where anyone cooked. Most of the dishes feature fake meat, but also have a fair amount of fresh vegetables. Leftovers are great too, but we rarely have any. I have also dined there, but table space is limited, so plan accordingly! Updated from previous review on 2022-09-01

Oh Garden Fresh, please always serve your delicious food.GF is a bit of a gem in Palo Alto. Small and unpretentious, you could easily miss it if you weren't looking for it. But of course, the vegans know all the good places.The dishes they offer at GF are pretty standard when it comes to an all vegan Asian restaurant. But all of the places I've been to, especially in the Bay Area, GF's flavours and spices really stand out. For example, one of my favourite appetizers is the onion (scallion) pancake. There are many varieties out there, some more on the sweet side and some more on the savory. But I'm always craving the latter, made the way I remember it from the east coast. GF is the closest I've had to that flavour profile. They're thin, crispy, and come drilled with a soy glaze. So good!And to top it all off, the staff is super friendly and always a pleasure to be served by. Any time I have a reason to go to Palo Alto, you know I'll be stopping by GF.

Stopped in Saturday night for a quick solo dinner. Let's talk about ambiance. This is NOT the place you go for a romantic candlelit birthday celebration. There are no white tablecloths, a cocktail menu, or singing waiters. This is a spot for solid vegan Chinese food. Yes you can dine in (ideally for lunch with a more bustling crowd or a super casual college student night) but most orders were takeout and there were few diners. I ordered the jasmine tea (unavailable) so opted for green tea (Lipton). I then ordered the roast chicken dish (unavailable) so went with the vegan ham instead. I appreciated the icons for wheat free and spicy items for those with dietary restrictions. Everything on the menu is completely vegan though. Food came out lightning fast. Sautéed vegan ham had good flavor and texture. The dish came with broccoli, bok choy, carrots, water chestnuts, and cabbage. All the veggies were fresh and crisp. The white sauce was well executed and light. It does NOT include rice, so I added on a brown rice. tl;dr Come for the authentic vegan Chinese food, not the decor or service.
Horrible dining experience. The person who helped us was very grumpy. The food was okay but I was hesitant to order more food due to the person who was serving the food. I would do a take out and not dine in again

Horrible dining experience. The main guy is grumpy, doesn’t write anything down, and speaks insufficient English…the perfect recipe for disaster. First, he fails to remember my entree, then blames me, then serves me the wrong dish. All without an apology too. Additionally and more importantly, the food is horrible. Avoid.
