Went there with my husband , asked the lady to let me sample she said no samples allowed! That was a shock ! I'm pregnant so my cravings are thru the roof I was planning on getting multiple flavors . I ended up getting 2 flavors, the lady there ( am assuming was the owner) literally put the 2 scoops in there and flattened the top aggressively. I've never had a flat gelato cup! It's just Odd. Plus I've NEVER seen ANYBODY so darn stingy! And the worst part is when I put my card in the iPad machine to pay the Tip portion came up and she suddenly turned the iPad to herself and said " it's OK, u don't have to leave anything" then walked out with my Flat cup! We noticed later that day she literally charged us additional $8 for a tip without our permission!! I'll never go here Again! Such a disappointment! If there was a ZERO star I would literally give it to you guys.

One of the best places ever to get Gelato. I have been going to this place and taking my daughter here for years. We just reminisced and had a bit of nostalgia a couple of weeks ago because we hadn't been since she was a teenager. She's in her early 30s now. Looks like they've made a few updates but, not a complete change. We saw this new logo and branding on the window but, still saw the original Gelato Classico labeling on our Italian ice cream cups... Sooo delicious I get the same thing every single time: Coconut Macadamia and/or Almond. It never fails. It's Stiil Thee Best Ever! We'd always stop here after eating Chinese food for lunch or dinner next door at Jing Jing's. I love the Bay Area favorites. ? ???Parking: parking is always busy downtown but, depends on when you go...Kid-friendliness: kids love this place

Loved their gelatos.. favorite for me was dark chocolate and mocha. We would definitely come back. It is small shop but there is place outside to stand.

Downtown Palo Alto has a few ice cream options but to me, none of them really stand out. That's why I was so happy to discover Carem Gelato and knew I had to stop by after having dinner in the area. The gelato shop is around the block of University and Emerson right across from the theater. It's a cute little shop that doesn't have any seating inside, so you will have to place your order and leave. When we got there, there was only one lady working there and she was very nice. Samples are not allowed at this time unfortunately, so it's definitely a gamble when picking out what you want to try. With all the flavors available, I ended up picking the cappuccino chip and dark chocolate on a waffle cone. The portions are generous and I had a hard time finishing two scoops myself. I loved the creaminess and potent coffee flavor of the cappuccino chip as well was the decadent dark chocolate that was perfectly sweet. Such a great little treat on a hot evening- I will be back!

The ice cream is ok. I wasn't wowed or anything. So I wouldn't go back. They don't let you try samples though which I'd never seen before. If they did I'd gone back to try a couple more. The tastes are also on Asian side not your usual gelato house. Like there is no pistachio flavor.

Staff was kind and gelato was great! I recommend the lychee gelato.

Person scooping our ice cream was an older vietnamese lady, which was a surprise for a gelato shop in palo alto. She was very friendly and quickly served our large group of 8 people in that cramped space. I got the stracciatella, pistachio, and lychee flavors and all of them hit the spot -- super decadent and tasted as they were supposed to. I'll definitely be coming back next time I'm in the area.

as the weather is warming up - ending the end of the day with a scoop or two of ice cream is the perfect dessert option. if you're in the downtown palo alto area then id say that carem is the perfect spot. they don't really have an indoor seating option but they do provide some chill outdoor seating options. the amount of flavors are abundant and so unique.10/10 would recommend for yall to check this spot out!i personally loved their mocha almond fudge (i had tried their pistachio but i wasn't a huge fan in comparison) - i also got it in a small cup which was the perfect size for me (and you can get 1-2 flavors)! id say that the mocha almond fudge had the perfect balance of creaminess, coffee flavors, and perfect ratio of almonds too.tips:- small parking lots available or even street parking available- perfect for dates/family and friends outing and self care day!!

It is true that it's not as creamy (more icy) as an Italian ice cream and that the price is high, as other reviewers suggested. However, if you want a true Italian ice cream I fear that you need to go to Italy or France. About the price, it seems to me that is the same as in other places around Palo Alto.On the other hand, these guys sell espresso at about $4 making it with a Nespresso machine, whose capsules are about 40 cents.
