Suzhe is under new management as of November 2020 and the new manager is fantastic. The service is excellent and the staff is super friendly - we love Mike! This is our favorite Chinese food in the Bay Area. The staff is following all covid protocols and the food tastes amazing. Every item on the menu is delicious -- we especially love all of the chickens and the string beans!

My friend was really craving the eggplant in spicy garlic sauce from Su Hong, but I let her know it was now called Suzhe and had new owners. We decided to go anyways as I read the reviews that the food was pretty much the same.Went on a rainy day before noon, and there were only a couple tables taken. Prompt service by the waiter and bus boy the whole time. My friend ordered the eggplant (subbed pork on the lunch menu) while I wanted to try something new and got the shredded pork in spicy garlic sauce. The lunch special came with a vegetarian egg roll which was nice and piping hot! Also had the hot and sour soup which definitely was very peppery with a kick! Shredded pork and fried rice were really tasty but something was missing. Asked for hot chili oil which gave it some extra flavor and kick. Had enough leftovers for another meal.Overall, good Chinese food in the area.

Not great overall, the fried rice was terrible. Extremely mushy rice and zero flavor. Would not go back.

We ordered the whole duck for celebrating winter solstice festival. It was really good!

I think the restaurant actually made good and large quantity food. I love it. Especially the Wuxi Rib which is really a masterpiece!

Got takeout from here a couple of times in January and February and thought it was still quite good - most of the old menu items we tried were pretty much as good as before, though some missing.

They serve big portions and for convenient rates. helpful staff members. They never disappoint.

Used to eat at this place all the time. So sorry it has changed hands. First of all, the prices have shot up to levels one might expect at an extremely fine diner, not some neighborhood joint trying to get on its feet. Second, every time I pass this place, it has like 2 or 3 diners, tops. Very unsettling. It used to be jam packed. I seriously doubt this place will be open by the end of 2020. Lastly, I'm irked that the 5-star review given to this place (the only one) seems a bit suspicious. The lady's Yelp profile has nothing but 1-star reviews, with the exception of this restaurant and, strangely, three law firms where she cut and pasted the same misspelled sentence about how good they are. Anyway, I won't be going to this restaurant.

Update! Su Hong has re-opened with a new owner but the same menu and chef. Yay! Their prices have increased a bit, but I'm glad that Su Hong, now identified as Su Zhe Eatery, is back in business and (hopefully) isn't going anywhere anytime soon! This is a Bay Area gem and I've always been a big fan of their cuisine since growing up here.

The menu and service were beyond our expectations. I truly enjoyed the atmosphere of this restaurant. Nice place to take my family out for lunch.

Recently reopened after the original owner retired, they offer a solid selection. I went at lunch hour and tried their General Tso's Chicken. As a special it came with sweet and sour soup, a spring roll and choice of white or pork fried rice. Overall it was good and reasonably priced. In the pork fried rice, they used cured ham, which was ok but did not add the fresh pork flavor that I amused to. Service was courteous, attentive and prompt. Complementary pot of hot green tea was a nice touch. Will go back in the next day or so given that is within walking distance of the hotel.

This is the old Su Hong. David leaves a legacy behind. 40 years of awesome food, on point. BUT NOW...new owner.... Tried the new owner and staff. Some same cook staff and waiter/waitress but not consistent at all. Totally hit or mis at this point. Tried four times now thinking after a couple months they'd get on track but nope. Today lunch was a disaster. Undercooked, no sweet n sour sauce on sweet and sour plate...just like fried chicken and undercooked. Epic fail today, not sure I'll try again. Staff was rude actually and they raised pricing significantly. So between food not being cooked right, higher pricing and a rude staff. I'm avoiding at this stage. Kinda sucks as su Hong has been my local go to forever, literally since 1978. It's too bad they can't execute. Execution is 65% rating. Service politeness is now at 60% rating. Higher pricing with no option to order small only large now 50% rating. Overall used to be 90%+ Solid A rating... Now it's 60% D rating. Got a new go to: Try Sunnyvale, 562 S Murphy Street near El Camino Dumpling Depot. Small, prideful, 100% EXECUTION. Low price, AMAZING food. On point. Definitely try, you'll thank me. Authentic

Disappointed. Mostly water chestnuts and celery when the two main dishes came. Rice is standard, dry and lukewarm. Lots of corn starch to thicken the sauce, but they forgot the flavor. Waaaaay too much money for the quality and amount of food. Efficient service but not going back.
