Very sad they closed permanently after struggling to find a new owner, finding one and staying open for a few more years, and now hit by pandemic. Sandwiches are great pandemic food in my opinion so maybe the tucked away location hurt this business. I'm going to miss the original spread the most and the fantastic Dutch Crunch. I only wish I had evangelized this place to more people. We've truly lost a community treasure. Usual order: - Build your own: - either Dutch Crunch or sweet French roll - Roast beef or low salt turkey - always the Original spread: kind of sweet mustard and Mayo based - lettuce, tomatoes, pickles - the free Swiss cheese - sometimes I'll get a potato salad on the side - super tasty with smooth potatoes and chunky bits of carrots/ celery

Really gone downhill. Used to be great, now it's not.

I love the custom sandwiches from here. The service is nice, but it can get crowded and hectic on a weekday when the Palo Alto High School students begin to swarm Town and Country and make it a confusing mess.

Permanently closed as of 12/30/19......It was horrible for years, so no real surprise.......Though great 30 years ago!

CALL FIRST BEFORE YOU SHOW UP TO EAT. This is the 2nd time i have come here and they have been closed early and to my surprise there are no store hours posted either. It sucks that ive set my mind on this for lunch and there always closed. Why? And post your store hours on yelp is says your open until 530i

I've been coming here since 1965 and as recently as April this year. Today's sandwich was terrible with pre-sliced meat and thick cheese with no smoked turkey available. Such a disappointment. Don't even have iced tea.

This deli used to be superb; now its just another deli sandwich shop. We stopped by to see what they offered and nothing special. its now just one of 100s of other lunch restaurants.

Expensive sandwiches that consist of 90% bread. They are charging a relatively large amount for a sandwich that consists of almost no meat almost no avocado and a ton of cheap ingredients like lettuce. I paid $2 extra for avocado to get one slice on the left side of my sandwich.

Place went downhill fast. Used to be great now I can't relay on them to even be open when they say they are.

One of the best Sandwich spots in Silicon Valley. A hidden gem in the back corner of Town and Country Village.

This has been a staple for my childhood up to adulthood. I used to come here every weekday while I was in high school. The company has changed hands a few times but the taste has maintained. Best sandwiches in the area. I gave my brother a gift card for the Village Cheese House 5-6 years ago. He never used it and gave it back to me recently. I went in to use the gift card and was disappointed that the systems changed due to the ownership. After speaking with the owner, it was clear that the old gift card system was garbage (couldn't even check balance online). The owner honored the amount I told him was originally on the gift card. Extremely nice of him which is why I had to make this post :-D.

Usually great sandwiches, but today was a huge disappointment. Ordered a BLT and then went to drop off a package at UPS. Came back, picked up my sandwich and went back to work. Got back to my desk, opened the thing up and had this soggy bread sandwich. All of the ingredients were there, but the bread wasn't toasted. Who makes a BLT where the bread isn't toasted? Unheard of! So I called, just to vent a bit. The lady who answers didn't seem to care. She said I should have requested that it be toasted? Am I wrong????Toasted bread is standard with a BLT...right?
