A Culinary Delight: The Pupusas at the new Melys Restaurant. From the moment the plate touched the table, I knew I was in for a treat. The pupusas, a traditional Salvadoran dish, were presented with a homely yet inviting allure. One was generously filled with spinach and zucchini, and the other was a delightful combination of savory mushrooms. Each bite was a harmonious blend of flavors, with the vegetables perfectly seasoned and the masa, or dough, cooked to a sublime golden brown. The spinach and zucchini pupusa was a fresh and vibrant twist on the classic, with the zucchini adding a slight sweetness that complemented the earthy spinach. The mushroom pupusa, on the other hand, was a hearty and satisfying choice, with the mushrooms providing a meaty texture that was both comforting and indulgent. The accompanying curtido, a type of Salvadoran coleslaw, added a necessary tang and crunch, cutting through the richness of the pupusas. And let's not forget the salsa roja, which was the perfect balance of heat and acidity, elevating each mouthful to new heights. In conclusion, the pupusas at the new Melys restaurant are not just food; they are a celebration of Salvadoran culture and cuisine. They are a must-try for anyone looking for an authentic and delicious meal. I left with my taste buds dancing and a promise to myself to return soon. Rating: 5/5 - A must-visit for any food enthusiast!

I'm have been WAITING for Mely's to open. I used to work on a food truck with a woman that made authentic papusas and have spent the last 13 years looking for some that are as good. I HAVE FOUND THEM!!! These are fantastic. NOT greasy. Perfect balance of of items you pick for inside. Just the right amount of dough/stuffing. Fresh. The portion of cabbage they have on the side is just right. And they were bigger than I expected. I would have been filled with just one but.... When it's this good you eat two! I prefer fresh brewed iced tea. They did not have any made but were ready to brew up a batch just for me if that was what I wanted. I was impressed and decided to save them all that extra work. Can't wait to try their other menu items! They had nice outdoor seating. Parking spots specifically for them so you won't have to fight with In & Out peeps next door.

I visited Melys Pupuseria in Pasadena, CA, today for a quick early dinner before getting on the road back to San Diego. After talking with the owner,Alicia, I was convinced to slow down, relax and eat here. I'm so glad I did. The atmosphere was perfect. Not overdone, personal and welcoming. The service was quick and friendly. Lots of smiles. Now for the food! The sayings," made with love" and "pride in ownership" come to mind. Everything was fresh and authentic. The beans and rice with a hint of coconut and the perfectly spiced pork pupusa were incredible. The chicken empanadas were stuffed with chicken, fresh and delicious. They've only been at this location next to In and Out for three weeks. Please come and keep this gem open!

Just went to the new location. Small but clean and inviting. The pupusas were made to order, large and very delicious. We will definitely be a regular. Easy parking in back.

The pupusas were so good I almost cried. They tasted just like my best friend's grandma made them growing up and it really hit the spot. The service was great and the gentleman who helped me even gave me some extra salsas to take home!

The food in this restaurant is good compared to other pupuserias in the San Gabriel Valley. The service is fine, the location is ideal but parking can be an issue.

First time going in and my first thoughts were that the pupusas were expensive, but let me tell you how worth it they were. They were bigger than regular ones you're used, packed well and you can tell they make to order. The sauces are thick and delicious. I live in Van Nuys and will drive over the buy them. The first time I've seen and tasted the pupusa red sauce be thicker for once instead of too runny like most places. I must go bk to try their other menu items. Worth the money. Absolutely

Love this place! Super delicious and clean! Not too many Salvadoran places in Pasadena but came here from La Caravana since I found bugs in my food last time. This place is clean and super delicious!
