Been here several times now. Food was cooked well but luke warm at best. We spent half our time killing all the fruit flies. What must the kitchen look like? Bottom line, the waitress is not suited for the job. Zero social skills and just acts like she doesn't want to be there. She is the reason we will never return. For the prices they charge, she could at least crack a smile. We will never be back.

Tonight we visited PasoTerra for dinner. PasoTerra is a quaint French inspired seafood restaurant owned by Chefs Andre & Cristina Aversengs. Upon arrival, Chef Cristina warmly greeted us with a glass of champagne & a bite size salmon tartlet. We ordered our dinners; blue crab cakes with Cajun sauce, beet & goat cheese salad, butter salad & Alaskan halibut in an incredibly delicious coffee sauce. Prior to our entrees arriving, Chef Andre came out to greet us. The food is outrageously delicious, the presentation is perfection & the owners & staff are welcoming & friendly. Award winning & highly accredited, this establishment is now on our downtown Paso restaurant rotation. We absolutely recommend giving PasoTerra a visit !!

Ok I hate writing bad reviews. I thought about it for 2 weeks and still feel like I should post. So: I was a party of 4 with a reservation. We had 3/4 people there and got sat. We let the server know one person was running 20-25 min behind but we are super sorry for inconvenience but we def order apps and a bottle asap! They said that was fine, then got the complimentary bubbles and amuse bouche like right when we sat! Super good! Great start. But then it took a turn. 15min later and server came back (this is a tiny restaurant so it's weird it took that long but no biggie). We ordered 2 orders of crab cakes and then I had a question about a wine and they said the somm would come over and before I could say 'oh that's fine I can just order _____" she left. A few minutes pass and somm came over and was very short with me. I just asked if they knew if the white wine I was ordering was stainless steel or oak aged. And the condescendion was wild. But I finally get to order a bottle through her and our 4th person joins while I'm ordering it. By the time the server came back with bottle (another 20 min) we were all ready to order entrees. But we're surprised our crab cakes didn't come out cuz the order had been placed over 25 minutes ago at this point. When we ordered said entrees I asked "hey you know how much longer for our crab cakes?" Figuring hey, maybe the kitchen was slammed. Or server forgot. No biggie, would rather just get entrees cuz we were hungry if that was the case! And the server looked at me and said 'we didn't put that order in. We only take food orders all at once' Which maybe that's typical for this restaurant but any other restaurant I've been to it's never been the case. So I said 'oh ok, no crab cakes then please' kinda shocked. This was not a pre-fix menu, you know? Just very weird. At this point I kinda wanted to leave because our server and the somm seemed mad that we were even there. But I digress. Our entrees come out, food was good! Small portions but hey, it's Paso Robles. I did notice that older aged parties were being helped much more efficiently and kindly than us (we are all 30). Not sure if that had something to do with it. I work in hospitality. And have done so for 12+ years. I'm nice to my servers, I tip 20+% and I try to never make mods/ask for hella stuff. I get it when places are busy, if things didn't get punched in, etc. But for a 300 dollar dinner this was super disappointing. 2 stars because the start was nice. And the food itself was good. Personally I won't go back (and I live in downtown) It sounds like the ageism is consistent in the reviews so I would hope that gets addressed eventually. Really really wanted to love this place. PS Lighting is very off putting here. Very bright diner-esque. Considering pricing, it seemed strange.

Not a very warm and welcoming spot if you are in your 30's and 40's with tattoos. My husband and I are visiting Paso Robles and saw the great reviews so we decided to go here. The restaurant had only 2 tables that were occupied by elderly people the rest of the place was completely empty... so many open tables. They told us we had to sit outside, which no big deal.. we went to the outside area which was completely empty and they told us we had two table options and they were both tiny and cramped in the corner. We tried to sit at a larger table and they told us we couldn't lol We walked out. Service was horrible.

Intimate (but well lit) dining experience. Personal and timely service and fantastic food! Thanks to Christina and Andre - and staff!

The chef is amazingly talented. Every fish dish we've ordered has been great. Last visit, we had halibut with a coffee sauce, and Arctic Char with citrus sauce. Both were delicious.

If I could give zero stars I would. I didn’t even have to eat here to know that it is not a welcoming place. My mother and little brother are visiting from out of town and we wanted to stop and grab a bite to eat after seeing the field of lights. It was 8:10pm. As soon as we walked in, the room went from chatter to complete silence. The guests and waitresses (who were all primarily Caucasian) looked at us from head to toe in a very judgmental way. Not even acknowledging that we were in the room. I had to ask if the place was closing because we were being ignored. After standing for a bit waiting for the waitress to ask the cooks if they were willing to take us so late, we decided to leave because of the negative energy we were welcomed with. I am Hispanic, very ironic to have prejudice and pretentious people eating here with the name that it carries. Will never come here again and will not suggest this place to any person of color.

This is a small place with indoor and outdoor dining. It was eclectically decorated in an informal but friendly and interesting manner. The servers were consistently attentive, friendly, and efficient. The food was all well prepared and plated. They first served us complementary small warm fresh rolls, a glass of bubbly, and salmon tartara. The prices were in line with other nice sit down restaurants in Paso, but the food was a level above most. Our scallop appetizers were delicious. They came in scallop shells and on a bed of cooked spinach, with a very tasty sauce. My wife and I shared a Santorini salad with grilled cheese, small fish, kalamata olives, and other items with crisp local lettuce. I had the paella with a variety of fish and shellfish, served in a small paella pan with saffron rice and some lightly cooked local veggies. I tried some of my wife's char which was perfectly cooked and served in a citrus sauce. We had a nice bottle of local pinot noir, which the server recommended. It went well with our meals and was flavorful. For dessert, my wife and I shared a tasty apple tort with ice cream. I don't understand some of the negative reviews (by competitors, or fussbudgets?) - our food was not too salty, the staff were all nice, the food was great, and we were all full at the end of the meal, though I didn't finish my paella. Even my 240 pound weightlifting son-in-law was full. They comped us several items and didn't charge us for splitting servings of several items. I totally recommend this restaurant. The only thing I would recommend adding is a vegetarian and a vegan main course.
