Update: they are temporarily closed... phone number disconnected. Very sad this place was great. Please come back!Very friendly and informative staff. If you are not a sushi aficionado like me, because I was clueless, they can explain it to you. You have to try the goyza, they were great. The crab avocado roll was awesome. Hope they re-open soon.

OK, this is a long overdue review, only because I'm a little selfish and didn't want to get Kinka TOO popular LOL.But now they're moving locations, it is a must to say something!Kinka is an absolute gem and I am so happy there is a "traditional style" japanese restaurant in the area. It's refreshing and addicting! They're all about quality of the fish, food, and beverages. I have never had a bad meal. Always 5 stars! I typically go for their lunches as I am always craving their Chirashi. I have tried Chirashi all over the Bay Area. SF, Oakland, Daly City, you name it! But I always make my way back to Kinka. The fish is just so fresh, perfect portions, and always presented beautifully. It's a work of art, really. Additionally, I love that they use brown rice (I think LOL) and sweetened mushroom as their base for the Chirashi. The slightly sweetened soy sauce is also delicious. Something about this combination is truly delightful and full of bright flavor. *chef's kiss*Along with my main dish, I get nigiri, usually sake (salmon), tobiko with quail egg on top, umi (ocean trout), and uni (sea urchin). They're all high quality fish and oh so delicious. If I won a billion dollars, I would eat at Kinka everyday! I have tried other dishes too, such as the hamachi kama, small fried fish, omakase, their sushi rolls plus much more and have never been left unsatisfied. One thing I love about Kinka is it's unassuming-ness. It's welcoming and non-pretentious. I usually do delivery or pick up but when I come in to eat, I don't feel out of place thus making my dining experience a positive one.The owners, Van and Alex are so lovely and sweet. It's so obvious they love what they do and put so much care in their business. I love chatting with them whenever I have the chance. They're awesome people! :)I'm not sure where their next location will be but like that Lykke Li song: "I-I follow, I follow you..." I'll go wherever they go, no matter the distance, they are that good! :D

This place is a hidden gem. Inside a little plaza. They serve quality fish cuts and also imported fish. We had the omasake, assorted toro, and couple of rolls. They use real crab meat for the California rolls. A little expensive but you pay for quality. 10/10 would recommend.

Ok so let me start off by saying the food is 10000/10. The quality of the fish is the best in Sonoma county hands down. Gyoza's are Incredible, miso soup, nigiri (everything!)It's the service that's 3/10 for me. Understand it's family owned and it can be slow. I feel like they need to hire more help but don't want to? You always go in there and service is extremely slow. I ordered take out twice now and was missing condiments. Common gyoza without the dipping sauce? Make that make sense. Sushi without wasabi or ginger? I didn't know you had to ask for the sauces that should already come with the food. Beware when getting takeout because this has happened to us various times. I will always support this business and stick with it because the food is simply delicious and the owners are so sweet! But I do with they would get more help at the restaurant especially on busy Friday nights.

We felt like having sushi for lunch and so a couple of our colleagues and I looked around for a sushi place in Petaluma. We came across Kinka sushi and walked in as it was close by. I am from the Bay Area and I have eaten some really good sushi and compared to those sushi places I can only give this three stars. We had the lunch Bento box and had some extra California rolls on the side. The rolls were dry and fried chicken was decent, but as i said there are other sushi places in San Francisco and San Jose that are a lot better than this place. But if you are in the locality and feel like having sushi this could be a decent place.

Had a great dinner here a couple months ago. The waitress and staff were very accommodating. Food was delicious. This is one of the few sushi restaurants I've been to in the area that actually has unique options. Not just the same copy-paste menu like a lot of sushi restaurants do.A lot of the classics are there, but the specials and individual entrees offer more variety.

Obsessed! Kinka sushi is a real gem. It's amazing how good their fish is. They get it delivered fresh several times a week and the quality truly shows. This quiet little place is turning out consistent, top quality food time after time.

A/C on too low, up 3-5°, and save money. Food and service was excellent. Meals came out in a strange order. Meals were excellent!

Very fresh sushi and sashimi, very laid back and no frills establishment. The gyoza was some of the best I've ever had, and the green tea was freshly brewed. Wasn't particularly busy, so a nice quiet spot for a date night. We will return

The sushi here is fresh and authentic, I just don't recommend their hot foods. We were disappointed by their bento boxes, the tonkatsu was dry, flavorless and mostly battered coating a chintzy, sad piece of pork, the tempura and gyoza were overcooked and dried to a crisp, gyoza borderline burnt. Salad wasn't dressed, they forgot to bring us miso. If you're looking to get in and out during lunch, I'd skip this place. They're understaffed and takes awhile to get the food, but worth returning during off hours for the sushi!
