My mom and I usually only go there for the pupusas and the horchata. Today (12/31), my mom went and decided to order food from there. Where to begin... first off, she ordered 3 atoles de elote. Instead of giving 3 cups, they gave her 1 large and 1 small cup. The guy said it equaled 3 cups. I guess to save money on their end and the customer has to share a cup? If that wasn't bad enough, it wasn't thick AT ALL. It didn't even have corn kernels and it was white in color (it should be yellowish). It did smell like corn but didn't taste like corn. I have the feeling that they ran out and watered it down with the water from a can of corn. We also bought pan con Pollo. Oh wow, it should be shredded chicken in gravy sauce... not a whole dry chicken leg with the bone still attached. It should have watercress, radish, cucumber slices, gravy so it's moist and if it's a lot of gravy, you can add a lettuce leaf under the chicken to keep the bread bottom dry. This only contained 1 slice of cucumber. Apart from the dry jerky like chicken leg (no gravy), it had a TON of jalapeños. The whole sandwich smelled like vinegar, you know, like those jalapeños that come with carrots and onions. The pupusas, which is what I typically buy from here, were also a letdown this time. They felt harder, as if they were made the day before and reheated. I am never buying regular food from here again. Im only sticking to pupusas, and that's it. I would give them a 1 star based on tonight's service, but since I know they can do better (at least on pupusas), so I'm giving them 2 stars.

I have been in search of the best popusa in a 10 mile radius. I come from a dense los Angeles area known for Salvadorian foods. Now that I live in Montclair I have been disappointed with the Salvadoran foods here. UNTIL I found this hidden Gem. Popusa here is NOT oily it's crispy and filled more with food than with dough. Their plates are very authentic.. feels like my wife just served me food at home. It's clean and savory. If anyone in town feels like eating a well experienced salvadoreño cuisine restaurant you found it!
