“Omg, what an amazing and super unique dining experience! If you haven't been to Port Costa in the East Bay and are game for a little off the traditional radar adventure, Bull Valley Roadhouse is such a fun alternative to anything but the ordinary. We chose to sit outdoors because the weather was so beautiful, highly recommend! There's a beautiful cocktail/mocktail/beer/wine menu, and they also do special Sunday drinks & brunch from 11a-3p. As for the dinner menu, our party chose to really go all out in honor of a few celebrations we had! We started with the deviled eggs, beef croquettes, fresh bread and honey butter, the Gentleman's relish toast, mac & cheese, and for the grand finale...we chose the largest beef shank I've ever seen served with broccolini and risotto. Everything was shared, and the shank was a $160 plate but split between our whole group, it was not only of epic proportions and extremely photo worthy, but was incredibly fresh, flavorful, and fun. Finishing with a chocolate caramel cookie, scoop of homemade vanilla ice cream, and topped with chocolate whipped cream (so yum!), I literally was in pure culinary heaven. From the XO chili sauce on the deviled eggs (I asked for an extra side of this sauce to use for the rest of the meal), the crispiness of the croquettes and tenderness of the meat inside, the perfect runny egg atop the Gentlemen's toast, the most deliciously sweet honey butter, to the fall off the bone shank, perfectly salted risotto, broccolini crunch, and of course the creamy Mac n cheese (let it sit for a few minutes to harden)...honestly everything was so divine! From the attentive & friendly service to historical funky ambiance, this is just a spot you have to experience for yourself..can't wait to come back to try brunch on a beautiful day! Def worth the extra splurge for a bit of the weekend spontaneous urge..”

“The tastiest noodle soup I have ever had. I love ramen, pho, Thai soups and this place is the best. I can’t wait to go back. I’ll definitely be a regular. I got a front row seat, watching the chefs pull the noodles, while I ate my delicious spicy wontons and beef bone broth soup. There are 5 noodle sizes to choose from, to customize your soup, from angel hair to wide. Delicious.”

“This is a great place to get Korean food and the only place I will eat chicken katsu. Their breading is light and airy and delicious. The owner is really nice too. I've yet to try their fried chicken but intend to do so during my next visit.”

“Just dropped off Tam Boreenman off at The Happy Ending House of Asian Flavors there on Tennessee street, he asked if I could pick him up in 10 minutes....10 minutes! I told him he can just walk over to the La Pinata Taqueria, where I'll be enjoying some Tacos de Canasta, they're the best in Vallejo! Especially the potato and the frejoli tacos. 5 stars ☆☆☆☆☆”

“Hole in the wall Thai restaurant. Traditional flavors that hit all the right notes. I've been to tons of Thai restaurants all over the United States and this place is by far one of the greatest of all time. Reasonably priced and dishes pack a huge punch. Don't let the decor or location fool you, this place is worth checking out. I've been here twice in the past 2 weeks lol. Servers are always nice and food comes out PIPING HOT. Pro tip, ask for dishes spicier if you can hang and ask for with the spice rack to add an extra kick!”

“Super generous sandwiches, high quality ingredients, very informal atmosphere. For what it is, a small sandwich bar, this place is great! I got the Italian one trip and a grilled sandwich on another trip. Both were yummy and satisfying. The Italian was a bit wet and drippy towards the end tho. People behind the counter are super nice. Seems like the kind of place people go out of their was to visit. You do get too much to eat in a single sitting tho, consider sharing a sandwich or planning on taking some home, as they are super generous!! 4 stars. Yay!!”

“We stayed in Vallejo back in September for our Napa trip and I am just now getting around to leaving all of my reviews. We stopped in here for a couple of beers and food after we arrived in Vallejo because we had an hour or so before we could check into our airbnb. It was nice because it ended up being just a couple of minutes from the airbnb! They had a very nice selection of beers to choose from. We ordered our drinks and food and then sat outside on the patio to get some sun. They had a lot of plants growing in planters all around, so it was pretty despite it only being a multi-level deck. The staff were friendly, the food was good, and the beers even better. A lovely neighborhood spot for some drinks and snacks.”

“We dropped into Baxter's randomly last night and we're lucky enough to be seated in the speakeasy. This was a side room of the restaurant but also a world away! The atmosphere was amazing, plush, comfortable and yet sleek with a bit of a club feel. Then the food! Not only was it beautiful in presentation but absolutely delicious. My husband had the lamb and practically licked the plate clean he loved it so much. The scallops were also amazing and not over sauced. Both came with mashed potatoes and veggies which at most restaurants aren't that great, Baxter's however made these side dishes equally fresh and appealing. Their bartender knew what he was doing and made some great martinis as well. Overall it was an excellent experience, highly recommended! Usually I'd have to go to SF to get this kind of service, food and atmosphere.”

Even during a brief pause at a stop light when there's a chance to look around, it's highly probable that you'll still miss it. There's no signage on the building itself, so look for the wine barrels sitting on the sidewalk as your clue, or perhaps you'll spot their small sandwich board just outside their front door. Find parking somewhere near 10368 San Pablo Avenue, the address to Banter, a wine bar with a warm atmosphere, welcoming decor, and communal tables. Offering a curated selection of old and new world wines, Banter focuses on small producers who prioritize minimal intervention from vineyard to bottle. On location, you can purchase a bottle from the shelves to enjoy at home or savor a glass (or bottle) in-house. If you need something to eat while you're there, choose from various delicious snacks including cheese, charcuterie, and other tasty treats. During the pandemic, while drinking wine and eating cheese in their backyard, owners Claire and Devin were inspired to open a wine bar, but they wanted their wine bar to feel like "home," - comfy, casual, no frills, just...chill. A collection of cozy couches in the back creates an ambiance reminiscent of enjoying a drink in the living room of your most stylish friend. Classic VHS tapes and 80's knick-knacks are precariously stacked high next to small vintage TVs playing films that will take you back in time. When I was last there the original Flash Gordon was playing. You probably won't get to hear any of the movie dialogue because the bar is spinning LPs from an ever-expanding vinyl collection, fueled by contributions from patrons. A pinball machine in the back room adds to the decor's nostalgic charm and provides an entertaining distraction between pours. With a partial kitchen, Banter partners with local talent and the community to create new opportunities by featuring "pop-ups" - temporary restaurants that allow chefs and restaurateurs to try out a new neighborhood, experiment with their menu, generate a following, or just get some great experience for their staff. During my most recent visit, I got a front-row seat at the bar to witness Chef Emmanual from the restaurant Bolita work his magic with fresh masa, a must-have ingredient at the center of all his signature dishes. Most notable was the Tamal de Calabaza which featured squash masa, mole negro tamal, roasted kabocha, and cashew crema. A nice compliment was the Papas Rositazadas, simple roasted potatoes with black garlic aioli. Both were deliciously elevated and beautifully plated for such a casual environment. Our server was nice, quick, and very attentive. Always making sure our tea was hot and we were well covered. A couple outdoor tables, and a good amount of indoor. Tons of take out action. They have cool purple rice as a signature. And the fish was very tasty! Highly recommend. There is a good sized parking lot next to the restaurant. Just be sure to park with caution; the neighboring Ace hardware brings a lot of turn over of large work trucks that have some challenges with the parking lot. “This is my favorite coffee bar not just in Concord but for miles! They’ve been trained to make the drinks proper. They know the difference between a latte and a cappuccino. Their pastry offerings are delicious. The vibe is modern, energetic, friendly and the place is super clean. I love supporting an independent, small business, and this one is definitely earning a great reputation!”

“I’ll give it 4.5 stars. It’s a chain sandwich spot. Bread was solid. Sandwich was good and hit the spot, but it’s not earth shattering. Staff was courteous. Come here for a solid sandwich. It feels very corporate-sandwich-shop-ish inside so I ate and left. I was wondering how this place earned 4.9 stars and found the note on the tables where they offer a free gift for a review. I am personally not a fan of that, so I wanted to share. Overall a solid chain sandwich spot.”

“I’m a big fan of low key spaces that dial it in. Chef Chew as well known as he is, is highly underrated.What he does with tofu is humbly masterful. While other places will rely on fake meats,he transforms a slab of tofu into a layers and pockets of flavor that get turned into one of the best vegan fried chickuns in the area and a vegan philly protein that is natural gluten free bc it’s basically just tofu and spices.The collards melt in your mouth but somehow don’t taste overcooked. And I think he changed his cheese sauce slightly bc it tastes even better since his reopening. Offering a vegan fried chickun and steak that isn’t made of processed ingredients is a subtle triumph that I don’t feel gets enough recognition. Vegan soul food done right. Much respect.”

“Stopped by randomly during a commute from SSF to Vallejo on a week day. A friendly gentleman was running the place. I ordered the traditional acai bowl which was $13 for a small size. It was different from other acai bowls I've had as it had condensed milk and powdered milk. I loved condensed milk and powdered milk as a kid - so my inner child was jumping for joy as I ate the entire thing. It was topped with fresh bananas and strawberries. Delicious. Would come back here to support this small business. Bathroom was clean too.”

“Excellent hot dogs. Wonderful service. Atmosphere's great but it's slightly industrial. There's a counter to sit at and a few tables but most people take their food out. And the chili dogs are to die for. If I had visitors from Europe I would take them here to give them an idea of American food.Parking: The parking lot can fill up but there 's good turnover.”
