I'm pretty sure they sold this place, they've been closed for a couple of weeks and I heard that a place in Hermosa bought them out. Sad!! They literally have the best food in Riviera Village, I love their Yum Salad! Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich is probably the spiciest dish you can get anywhere in South Bay, lobster roll was the best I've ever had, period. Matty's was pretty much the only reason I'd even head to Redondo. I hope they open a different location pleeeeease

Don't get the crawfish, but try other things. Crawfish was old and mushy texture as a result. However, everything else was tasty.

So I like the food here but they're never open when they say they are. That's why I'm giving this 1 star. The info says it's open at noon, and this very minute I'm waiting outside at 6pm and it's still not open. Been here next door since 5. And I've lost count of the number of times this has happened. Don't get me wrong. Matty's is kind of a cool establishment. Some of the best Manhattan clam chowder I've ever had. But holy s*** is it unreliable. If you're planning on coming here, don't bother. But if you're nearby and it happens to be open--whenever that is--stop in for some solid food.

We had lunch at Matty's yesterday. I had the rice noodle salad with shrimp. It had just the right amount of spice. The shrimp were good size and full of flavor My husband had the rich boy sandwich with pork. He really enjoyed it. Also to start we had the andouille sausage. It was spicy and yummy. We liked it so much we told them it should be offered on the menu as a sandwich. Service was a little slow. But we will definitely be back to try other items

Happened across Matty's on a Friday evening. We sat down for beers and to enjoy the live music. The staff was all super friendly and they had a nice beer selection. We thoroughly enjoyed our 30+ minutes hanging out here. Next time I want to try the food which looked delicious (all fresh/live seafood). As for the atmosphere and staff - 5 stars. They have a quaint outside set-up to adequately address COVID19 concerns. I need to eat something before I can elevate to 5 stars, but I suspect the 5th star is a formality.

Who ever created the menu does not know what they are doing. The nashville hot chicken is a far cry to the original, the bread used is a hard crusty french roll, that on any other sandwich would make complete sense, but on a fried chicken sandwich is a horrible idea as it tears the breading off the chicken, on top of this there's not a single pickle on it, please just remake it or rename it to what it is, a fried chicken sandwich. The only redeeming quality of the meal were the fries and the sweet tea, which unfortunately does not make up for the freezer burnt ice cream served in a plastic cup

Nice seafood restaurant in Redondo Beach. "Rich boy" sounded good, I asked for it with chicken and got pork. Also ordered a clam chowder, didn't really like the taste of it. Food took a while to serve, probably won't return.
From New Orleans and his Crawfish and Muffaletta reminded me of home! A must go to!

This place is a complete joke. Let me repeat. This place is an absolute JOKE. Maybe this review will offer some true clarity to those that actually believe this place is good, because it's not, it's terrible. The owner is absolute scum. Bleached blonde hair, nose "hoop" ring. Young kid that should stick to whatever the hell he was doing before he opened this joke of an establishment. Been a local down here for over 40 years and finally made the trip to this spot to try their food. Is it weird that I asked my sister to pray for me prior to my arrival?? Anyways here's the story, we order the Crawfish. The waitress comes back and says we are all out of crawfish, let me remind you people, the name of this restaurant is Matty's Crawdaddies... So we then decide to order the Lobster roll. Owner comes out 10 minutes later and says they are all out of lobster. Let me remind you we were there at 7PM, we were one of the first customers there, this was on Saturday night. The owner said he will give us a few beers on the house for the trouble. We both ordered the "rich boy" chicken and shrimp sandwich. We took one bite and returned it, driest chicken I have ever had and the shrimp was awful, bland and no flavor. We also ordered the Clam Chowder, both of our bowl of chowder were COLD. Not even kidding, they were both cold and were returned immediately. We opted to leave immediately, owner came out after everything had been returned and told us we had to pay for EVERYTHING!! Including the Moscow mules we initially ordered that were extremely sweet and sugary. The owner is a real p***** arrogant and aggressive and has in my opinion, zero understanding of how to run a restaurant. I feel bad for each one of your neighbors. You have ruined the experience for customers and other retailers blasting snoop dog and Rihanna and full blast 24/7 once your doors open. It is offensive and belligerent. You drinking with your "people" inside your restaurant like you are some kind of king is an embarrassment to our beautiful Riviera. I doubt you last 6 more months, do not come here...
