To much dough, and not enough meat. No, flavor on dough very plain taste. First, and my last visit here at this location.

A family friend introduced this place to my mom and she told me about it. They had an amazing assortment of tamales and what I have tried are really good. There are some tables to eat there, they seem to have quite a bit of take out orders. They also have rice and beans should you want a complete meal. I plan to spread the word about the Tamale House.

Yesterday while purchasing tamales, an individual was complaining and asking for a refund after he found a cockroach in his food. This specific customer did seem a little questionable but, regardless of his accusations or not… if he complained and asked for his money back, the restaurant should have willingly obliged. Instead, the workers sat there arguing with him and even made him speak to the manager over the phone to which I could hear the manage also debating with the customer. You see, this a major problem with Hispanic/Latino restaurants… I myself being from Ecuador, while present and seeing this customers interaction, I told the workers that, I wasn’t necessarily defending the customer but, whether or not in fact the cockroach originated from the restaurant or was brought in by the individuals, as simple as it is, if a customer complains they should receive their full refund, without having to argue for it. This is a common issue that I have witnessed in Hispanic restaurants where they may have been guilty of a wrong doing and then instead of being professional and having good customer service , they feel insulted, argue with the customer and overall make themselves look bad. I told the workers this very same thing and they also were very rude in their response to me and made me question whether or not I would continue with my order. The obvious thing here being that the customer was complaint about a cockroach in his food. But giving the restaurant the benefit of the doubt and trying to show good faith and support the spot, I placed an order of 6 tamales…I ate 2 tamales and noticed my stomach was churning a few hours later. Currently I write this review as I sit on the toilet having a not so pleasant experience.Sad to say, the tamales were actually not as good as they once were and now I’m questioning if I have gotten food poisoning and as to whether the establishment is sanitary. I’m not exaggerating any of this. It’s sad to see Hispanic/Latin places with good food not excellent and ruin themselves due to ignorance and poor service. The ladies at the counter were all arguing with the gentleman and denying that their establishment had roaches or was dirty. Whether this is true will have to be proven once I inform the health department and I will be asking the establishment for a full refund or calling my credit card to reverse the charge. Horrible experience and after trying to kindly tell the workers that they shouldn’t argue and refund the other customer. I will never return.

This place is the best. The tamales are fresh, plump, light, and savory. They fill you up with out weighing you down, no lard. I really love the spinach with cheese, and Pineapple tamales. The jimacia is refreshing too. Tasty eats that don't break the bank. Happiness ?

I used to love this place. I would spend $40-$60 once a week and now I highly don't recommend. Tamales are old and all warm drinks leave a nasty watery taste in your mouth. RUDE PEOPLE MOST OF ALL!Better off buying from Vallarta or someone off the street selling Tamales. Just wasted $40 and had to throw away 2 Tamales and my champurado in the TRASH !

Well all good things come to an end. Door dash (dd) is now adding a 15% service fee to order from house of tamales. This number has fluctuated in the past but was around 5% and never 15%. 15% onto your order from this place? LOL. The prices are already marked up with dd. Another one bites the dust in good ol corrupt cali. Unfortunately I won't be ordering it again.
