Came here for lunch and it was a really homey experience. We ordered the #1 beef streamed rice with pickled mustard (that had enough rice for two people), #10 braised chicken and abalone soup with ginseng, #35 Minnan ginger duck, and # 42 garlic bok choy. Though the soup size was a bit small for the price, I felt the quality of the broth was worth it on the first taste. You know by the smell of garlic bok choy that the hot wok was on fire! (The fire emoji is not showing up here) The service was kind and fast. Will definitely come back to try the other soups and dishes! Come give it a try!

We stumbled upon this restaurant on the second day of Lunar New Year. This hole in the wall was an amazing find setting off our culinary experience in 2024 to a great start. The food was just delicious. Everything was seasoned to perfection. The tiny wonton in seaweed soup is a must try. The service was outstanding. Tentative. Kind. Helpful. The ambiance is cozy, clean and airy. Over all, it could be a 6 stars if there is such a scale. Definitely will come back again and again with friends and family. I wish you success Zheng Shang Xian!

Excellent food especially the black chicken herbal soup, fried fish, wonton noodles soup, braised pork belly and persevered vegetables dish is outstanding. Homemade chili paste is fantastic. What a little hidden gem in the city of Rosemead. Fried pancakes with scallions. Great customer service. Clean and great ambiance .

Hidden gem for heartwarming comfort food. Their steamed rices are quite large and generous with the toppings. This isn't clay pot rice so don't expect the crispy bits, but it's really great when you're looking for something that's more everyday or if you're feeling a bit under the weather. Cold cucumbers were a much larger plate than expected with toasted peanuts tossed into a slightly mala marinade. Their wontons were essentially small bite sized tender pieces of meat balls wrapped in a super silky thin skin. The broth itself was a standard auntie style basic broth with a bit of shredded wakame in it. Very auntie-made-you-a-big-snack vibe. Service was pretty minimal, parking is abundant.

Came here on a Sunday afternoon for lunch. There were plenty of parking in the strip mall lot. The restaurant was not busy at all - only 2 other parties besides us. It was our first time here and the bamboo steamed rice was what caught my attention. Unfortunately, they no longer serve the steamed rice dishes in this bamboo dish. They just serve it in a regular bowl now :( Service was ok - friendly and pretty prompt. You have to go up to the front to pay at the end of your meal and they do not help you package your leftovers. 1. Braised Chicken and Abalone Soup with Ginseng (3.5/5) You can tell they cooked this soup for a long time. It was quite herbally and had a mix of chicken and tea aroma. Overall, ok soup to enjoy on a cold winter day, but for $15... I will pass next time. I only ordered it because I thought it came with my steamed rice dish as the waitress asked me which soup flavor I wanted immediately after I placed my rice dish order. This was a bit misleading and I felt kind of tricked into ordering such an expensive soup 2. Crocodile Soup (4/5) Per my brother, it was like drinking a tea soup with chunks of meat that "tastes like chicken, but you can tell it is not because of the unique striations on the meat." He stated that the meat was cooked for too long as it was on the "dry side." 3. Chicken Steamed Rice with Mushroom and Cordyceps Flower (3.5/5) The rice was cooked well. It's white rice, so there is nothing "healthy" about it. As far as the chicken goes, there's hardly any real meat; 95% all bones. I do not recommend children eat this dish as literally, there's shards of bone in every bite of the meat. Thank goodness for the sauce that you pour over & mix into the rice. That's what gave this dish the majority of the flavor. 4. Smashed Cucumber (5/5) The cucumber was very fresh and crunchy. The garlic-vinegar-soy like sauce it was drenched in was very flavorful, though a bit on the salty side. 5. Beef Mixed with Cilantro and Peanut (5/5) The beef was very tender and the sauce was packed with flavor - savory and garlicky (similar to the sauce used in the smashed cucumber dish). I liked that it has some roasted peanuts within to give it some extra texture. They also put cucumbers in here. I wish the waitress would've told me that. I wouldn't have ordered a separate dish of smashed cucumber in that case. 6. Garlic Bok Choy (5/5) Cooked well and lightly flavored with clear garlic sauce, but very small portion 7. Fried Wonton (2/5) Not my dish, but my brother liked it. It's just thin wontons that have been fried in likely unhealthy, inflammatory oil. In summary, food is ok, but price is quite steep. We likely will not be coming back here as there's nothing special that would make me want to return.
