“Brandon was our server and he was so nice, so funny, and explained everything to us loved it!! The wall decor is awesome, they even had robots serving your side dishes! The Diamond Tier was awesome with grade A5 the dry aged wagyu was melt in your mouth good! Just as good as what we had in Japan. Brandon cooked them up for us and we enjoyed talking with him. Celebrating my husband's birthday they sing and have some ice creamsicles ube or honeydew flavors. They do have drink stations, some extra food stations, a dessert station all of which you can walk around to grab yourself. The Otoro thick cut and black pepper beef cubes were our other favorites. Can't wait to go back!”

The interior is bright and modern—clean tables, big menu boards with mouthwatering photos, and a quick-moving counter setup. Service is genuinely solid: staff are attentive, explain spice levels patiently (1-5, with 3 already serious), and food arrives lightning-fast even during peak dinner rushes.

The **spicy dishes** deliver on heat— the boiled fish in green pepper sauce swims in vibrant red oil with explosive mala kick, tender slices soaking up that tongue-numbing buzz. The mapo tofu is silky and fragrant with Sichuan pepper, while the grilled whole fish crackles with cumin and chili rub. If you crave that face-tingling spice high, Uncle Chili absolutely satisfies; the flavors pop and the heat lingers just right.

That said, authenticity takes a hit for me. The oil pools are generous (classic Sichuan style), but here it feels heavier and slightly refined rather than the rustic, fermented depth I’ve had in Chengdu or even Flushing spots. After a few bites, the oiliness overshadowed the nuances, and I couldn’t finish portions I normally would—points deducted there, even though everything looked and felt clean.

Still, for Rowland Heights, it’s one of the bolder Sichuan options, great for spice chasers who don’t mind the grease factor. Solid execution, fair portions, and friendly vibes keep it in rotation. I’ll return, but probably stick to drier dishes next time or ask for less oil. Worth trying if you’re in the area and need a mala fix.”

Tea flavor is strong but the finish is really clear, not that sugary mess, which I appreciate. The camellia one has this gentle floral thing going on that hangs around a bit after you sip. Staff were friendly in a low‑key way, helped me pick without pushing anything, tbh that matters. Atmosphere felt calm, soft background noise, easy to sit with my phone for a while and just zone out. Prices felt okay for what you get, works for me.”

“Complex, authentic Korean flavors made with traditional p ingredients. A humble porridge could become a pleasantly enjoyable experience. I ordered bulnakji porridge today and instead of using ground beef or cheap meat, they used a good quality meat and then they sautéed the marinated bulgogi in butter. mmm. Chives/buchu they used were fresh and green. So was the octopus. Often times you taste the fishiness but this octopus or nakji had a very clean flavor. The venue and the food they served were very clean. I highly recommend this place.”

My boyfriend accidentally dropped all three of his tacos right after getting them 😅 When he went back to order more, they asked if something was wrong with the tacos. “Thanks to my son in law we got to try a new spot. How Rowland Heights has changed since the 80’s. Just love the rich food scene. Be forewarned. Friday and Saturday nights the parking can be very challenging. Once seated service was quick. But here is how it works. You order your broth selection an some premium proteins online. The rest is pretty much self service from the various refrigerators. Seafood, beef tendon, beef with cilantro, gizzards, plenty of mushrooms, and veggies. You select what you want and take it back to your table and immerse in the broth. Feels very cafe style which I just enjoyed. Totally a find. I will be back.”

The cafe is clean and has a few indoor tables and plenty of seating.

“The stinky tofu was decent. I hadn’t had it for five years, so I was still happy to find it here. That said, it didn’t feel stinky enough or juicy enough, and the tofu texture seemed a little different from the common type I’m used to in Taiwan.

I asked for extra pickled cabbage, but it was never served, and water was not provided either.
Still, because stinky tofu is so rare to find here, I have to give full points for that. The 肉圓was also really good.”

“Pickled Fish: The fish is so tender that it melts in your mouth, the sauerkraut is crispy and appetizing, the soup base is sour and spicy but not choking at all, every bite is full of sincerity! I especially like the light numbing aroma, paired with hot rice, it is simply a healing tool in winter!

Guobao Pork: Under the golden and crispy skin is tender and juicy tenderloin. The ratio of sweet and sour sauce is just right. You can hear the "click" when you bite into it! The texture is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. It is definitely a textbook interpretation of Northeastern cuisine!

Home-style tofu: The tofu is fried until it is charred on the outside and tender on the inside. It absorbs the fragrance of the sauce and is smooth and tender in the mouth without losing the bean flavor. Paired with the crispness of fungus and green pepper, it is full of texture, simple but full of homey taste, and it is a perfect meal!

The three dishes in this restaurant each have their own merits. The taste is authentic and the portions are substantial. You will become a fan after eating it once! Highly recommended to friends who love food~”

“My hubby and my daughters celebrated my birthday at Ishi Sushi last night because I suggested going there, and we all liked their food. We ordered two (H4) orders of Chirashi, one (C12) una don (eel don), and I ordered (C13) the Chilean Seabass. The owners were very friendly. As we spoke with them casually, the lady knew it was my birthday yesterday. She said they would serve me a complimentary cake as dessert later. The Chirashi bowl had tuna (2), salmon (2), shrimp (1), white fish (1), yellow tail (1), albacore (1), uni (1), smelt egg (1), tamago (1), & salmon egg. The portions were good, and the fish was so fresh and delicious. My hubby and older daughter liked their Chirashi bowls. For the una don (eel served over the rice), my younger daughter also liked it so much. I liked my Chilean Seabass. It was served with salad and miso soup. The Chilean Seabass was fresh and flavorful with a tangy, sweet flavor. They provided a piece of lemon wedge, so I squeezed some lemon juice on it before eating. Then the owner brought us the Japanese Yuzu cheesecake. I was surprised that the owner gave our entire party slices of complimentary cake, rather than just one for the birthday person; mine even came with a candle. It was very generous of them. The Yuzu cheesecake was very delicious. The service was great, and they were very friendly.”

We came in for hot pot. Please note this is not an AYCE place. But the quality here will make you come back.

We got the pork tripe chicken broth. I could drink this all day. We got an assortment of vegetables. We got corn, various mushrooms, bamboo shoots, tofu, greens and water chestnuts. All so good and so fresh.

For proteins we got ribeye, beef tongue, and lamb. Everything was so fatty and flavorful. Such great quality meat.

We also got a few appetizers. The popcorn mushrooms are my new favorite. The mashed garlic cucumbers were crispy and delicious. They also have skewers and we got chicken hearts, which is a personal favorite. And we also got a beef tongue plate. So good and the Chili's brought the heat.

Such friendly service and delicious comfort food will make this a place to come back to again and again.”

You order via tappet, the server is nice and friendly with a smile. Foods are tasty, well make, fresh, make to order, excellent, big portion at a very reasonable price. Order 9 portions (including the milk tea) | with 15% tip for $67 total. Not bad at all. Saw the noodle soup, it is huge bowl and for 2 people for sure. Will come back for that and others. “Whenever my sister swings by the 99 Ranch Market in Rowland Heights, she always passes by Golden China, a little Sichuan spot inside and this time we decided to bring our parents along to check it out.

They've got lunch specials, around $13 a dish. Portions are solid, and you can see what we ordered in the photos. Flavor-wise, it's on the heavier side, pretty salty and oily in my opinion, but the auntie (seems to be the owner) was friendly, chatty vibe.

If you're shopping at 99 Ranch and craving Sichuan, this is a handy spot to pop in!

Drove by this restaurant and figured we would try it.The experience was one we will absolutely recommend, regarding both food and true Chinese culture. No where near what I was expecting.We had the lamb and also beef skewers and fried rice. An appetizer was brought out that we did not order, as it was included, which was right away different and tasted unlike any other soybean and peanut I’ve experienced. It was delicious!The lamb and beef was cooked to exact request and was also delicious!While we have dined at many Chinese restaurants throughout the United States, as we travel extensively and dine out regularly this surf past any, and all other restaurants, we’ve dined in for this type of food. Here’s the difference this was not Chinese food that has been Americanized in most Chinese restaurants. This was true Chinese prepared food.I truly believe you would have to travel to China to get this quality of food and culture.I will also say that we spent 3/4 of our time speaking to Cindy, whose father owns the restaurant which caters to home cooked events at homes, so this is not their primary source of how they deliver the product to the public. Unlimited drinks are included as well, with choices like passion fruit juice, winter melon tea, and chrysanthemum tea.

For the broths, we chose the original bone soup and the hot and sour soup. The bone broth was rich and flavorful, but the hot and sour broth was definitely the standout.

We went with the top-tier AYCE Combo C, which includes premium cuts like Grassland lamb, beef tongue, and American Kobe Wagyu beef. It also comes with everything from Combos A and B, plus access to all the meat selections at the buffet. The premium meats were absolutely delicious and well worth the upgrade.

With great service, quality food, and affordable pricing, this is definitely a hot pot spot we’d happily return to.”

Stopped by here for dinner and we were not disappointed. All the food was fresh, tasty, and ample. We were a party of 8, so we ordered and good amount of food. Everything was great. The orange chicken was not as sweet as others and was really good.

Food break down:
The hot and sour soup was delicious, tasty and hit the spot.
The sliced fish in Szechwan sauce was fantastic. The fish was perfectly cooked and the heat was the right amount of spice and flavor.
The pork and cabbage dumplings were juicy and tender. I wished I ordered two orders of this.
The combination sautéed noodles was great as well. A good mix of pork, chicken, and seafood with a nice light sauce. Very tasty.
The pan seared green beans were delicious. Tender crisp with “the breath” of the wok which was slightly smokey. Always a favorite.
The combination fried rice was tasty and a good balance of flavors. For the rice lovers.
The braised eggplant was a surprise hit. Eggplant can be bland but this wasn’t. It had a nice blend of spice and flavor, and was a hit.
The beef with broccoli was delicious as well. Tasty and packed with tender crisp broccoli.

The service was great. The owner lady was attentive, helpful and gave good recommendations (sliced fish, hot and sour soup). The ambience was dated, but clean. No A/C made it hot while eating. All in all a great meal.”

“Plate lunches here are just as delicious as on the Hawaiian Islands. First, the garlic butter shrimp...I will dream about it. Second, the bbq chicken was tender and oh-so flavorful on its own; no need for the dipping sauce although the sauce IS super tasty. Next, the rice is topped with furikake and sesame seeds. Sadly, the spicy pork flavor is excellent, but I don't like how it's in small pieces. I referred to it as shrapnel pieces, and my BF thought that was a precise phrase for it. We were disappointed that the gochujang wings were not available on a weekend night at 6:30pm. This a food court location, so if you want to eat hot & fresh, you need to find a table two stalls down in a small inside area with about 6 tables or outside with about the same amount of tables.”

I ordered a jasmine green milk tea ($5.75) at 50% sweet with easy ice and boba ($0.75). Just the right amount of sugar with the right consistency for the boba. Would definitely order again (and also possibly try their matcha milk tea or roasted oolong milk tea). Post-dinner boba craving met! Thanks Tiffany for taking care of our large group order!

They have two small tables in the front and more table space in the back for hanging out and playing board games. We picked The Logo Game and learned new facts about products and logos and what not from the game. Did you know that Baskin Robbins had 31 flavors particular to cover each day of the month? I didn't, until the game. Fun times.

The meats are surprisingly good quality for the price point. Definitely load up on the beef belly, brisket, and marinated pork. The fact that they use real charcoal grills makes a huge difference in the flavor compared to standard gas grills.
One of the best parts is their self-serve hot bar. It has all the sauces, side dishes (banchan), salads, and even tortillas for wraps ready to go, so you aren't waiting on a server just to get a refill on kimchi or brisket sauce. Speaking of service, the staff is attentive, quick to change out the grill, and fast with the meat orders.”

Five stars and it's a bougie Asian fusion place that's going to rip you off. You want three stars because the service will feel inattentive to western eaters but be perfect for eastern diners. So these five stars are adjusted for my tastes: I don't want to be bothered while I eat, I don't need ambiance when eating Chinese food, and I don't want to pay extra for these. In fact, I would say when I sent the service was a little too attentive 😂😂😂. I'll also say that I ate with my friends from China so my experience was we walked in, Chinese was spoken, we were ushered into a nondescript back room, more Chinese was spoken, huge plates of the best food were delivered, a person kept checking in on us hence my comment that the service was too attentive, we fought over the bill, I lost, and we left with tons of leftovers. “Pickled Fish: The fish is so tender that it melts in your mouth, the sauerkraut is crispy and appetizing, the soup base is sour and spicy but not choking at all, every bite is full of sincerity! I especially like the light numbing aroma, paired with hot rice, it is simply a healing tool in winter!

Guobao Pork: Under the golden and crispy skin is tender and juicy tenderloin. The ratio of sweet and sour sauce is just right. You can hear the "click" when you bite into it! The texture is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. It is definitely a textbook interpretation of Northeastern cuisine!

Home-style tofu: The tofu is fried until it is charred on the outside and tender on the inside. It absorbs the fragrance of the sauce and is smooth and tender in the mouth without losing the bean flavor. Paired with the crispness of fungus and green pepper, it is full of texture, simple but full of homey taste, and it is a perfect meal!

The three dishes in this restaurant each have their own merits. The taste is authentic and the portions are substantial. You will become a fan after eating it once! Highly recommended to friends who love food~”

“Came by after a dental appointment in West Covina for the first time since the remodel and it looks great! The decor inside definitely reminds me of the San Gabriel location, but the menu here feels way more expansive. They’ve added a lot of new styles and local Macau favorites that you don't see everywhere else.

We tried:
• Special Crab Meat Yee Mien: This was excellent and full of flavor.
• Baked European Style Curry Seafood Rice: Really unique and delicious.

It seems like this is the only spot where you can find these specific dishes done this way. Service was solid and friendly too. Definitely a great addition to the Rowland Heights food scene, we’ll be back to explore more of the menu!”
