Pancake Circus is a uniquely decorated restaurant in Sacramento, offering delicious classic diner food at reasonable prices. The clown art decor might be mildly disturbing, but the friendly service and on-site parking make up for it. With new owners maintaining the clown kitsch atmosphere, the food has greatly improved over the years. Customers can enjoy a bacon cheeseburger with a surprising maple flavor or indulge in the pancake special. The restaurant has an old-school zoo/circus vibe, and is starting to show its age, with the booths being cramped and the bathroom in need of an upgrade. However, the food and service are better than a typical breakfast chain, and the early bird special is worth trying. Recently, some visitors noted that the ambiance is lacking, but the comfort food and friendly service remain highlights. The Pancake Circus special includes two eggs (your way), two sausage or bacon, and country-style potatoes with large chunks of perfectly cooked potatoes. Surprisingly, the restaurant also offers cinnamon French toast shaped like a pancake, which was enjoyed by many. The menu has changed slightly; for example, there are now fewer jellies for toast, and a Denver omelette with mushrooms may come without cheese. The coffee remains excellent, and there is plenty of parking with handicap access. Despite some critiques, especially about the atmosphere, the place continues to provide a fun, child-friendly environment with a circus/zoo vibe, making it an interesting spot for breakfast or comfort food.
