“I have eaten here four times now and every meal is incredible, and for an airport hotel restaurant, truly unbelievable. The hotel is lovely in every way, miles beyond the alternatives. But the restaurant is one of the reasons I stay here whenever I have a morning flight. Tonight had the lobster miso bisque, and the seared scallops, and I don't think I've had better versions of either in a decade. The scallops and the lobster were as tender as they could ever be and the flavors were amazing. Service and ambience is great too. They have wines by the glass that you normally must pay for a bottle - and a first rate twist on a Paper Plane if you're a cocktail person. Be sure to get a table by the window to watch the planes...“

“Service is always polite and efficient. Food arrives quickly, and it's always perfect food for cool winter evenings. The spicy ramen w/ added egg, and standard tsukemon are our gotos. Plenty of filling fatty flavors and textures.Adding sides, appetizers or the extra meat makes it a Lot of food, with no room left over for one of the many dessert-centric walkable places. We go early in the evening, as even years after opening, this place has a line (worth it) even in the middle of the week. It's consistent, full of flavor, deep comfort food. One of my top 5 in downtown San Mateo“

“Overall an enjoyable Ramen experience. The ramen joint is no-frills with a few types of ramen offerings and add-ons such as Chicken Karage and Gyoza. Their red king ramen has a great balance of spice, garlic, and umami flavours in the broth - of course, you can adjust many aspects of your dish based on your liking. The only con is that they always have long lines, and there is no waiting system so you have to stand in front of the shop, rain or shine. However, lines do move fast enough that it feels worth the wait.“

“We have been here a few times and got delivery once. The ramen has great flavor and the noodles are good too. Even the kale noodles in the broth less ramen are great. It has become the kids' favorite and parking is a cinch. The Safeway next to it as a bit of a bonus too; very convenient.Kid-friendliness: Kid sized ramen and the tablet ordering system is a hit with the kids.“

“Have driven past this for the longest time , finally had the chance to catch dinner there with a couple of friends ! Delish dishes , exotic unexpected choices of protein like alligator and coyote??? I opted for the wagu beef ! Inside can be a little dark - be prepared to take off your shoes to sit at the table .“

“My wife and I are particular about our ramen. We love the shoyu ramen broth but like to get the toppings from the vegetarian ramen. The owner Baron was nice enough to modify the menu for us. This is a great spot, I highly recommend it whether you're sitting out on the patio or inside. Thanks Baron!“

“This is a small restaurant, so a wait is to be expected in the evenings/on weekends. However, it's more than worth it! They have the best ramen I've tried in a long, long time, and the servings of meat and extras in their bowls are HUGE. Like heaping up out and over the bowl. Their sushi is also great; they put a large amount of avocado and fish in their specialty rolls, and everything is very fresh. Can't wait to try this place once I'm back in town!“

“Tasty meat skewers grilled over a charcoal fire, along with a decent selection of beer and sake. Some skewers can sell out quickly, though. Service was subpar, starting with the check-in process that was very disorganized. Tables are small so the plates will fill up quickly if you order too much food.“

“On the cheaper side for food, and it's amazing. Haven't tried their ramen but tonkatsu curry is great.Takoyaki is more on the soft side, and karaage isn't crispy— but good. It's a different style— liking it would be preference.“

“Got the hakata tonkotsu, wish i had the option for thicker noodles. My wife got the the spicy tantan men, broth was good but the lettuce was not traditional and tasted bitter. Ika karage appetizer was excellent, great alternative to a chicken karage.“

“First time trying this place and it’s now our favorite place for sushi in the Bay Area. TLDR food is fresh, their service is awesome, space is a bit tight. We ordered a deluxe chirashi and a oh baby box for two of us. They both came with a free miso soup. Food is fresh and we are very happy with the portion. A big highlight of the dinner was the service here. The sever was very patient when explaining the menu for us and gave us extra napkins to hold the tea cups since they were very hot. We also asked for extra wraps for the sushi box and were given a lot (and they have soy paper here too!). It seems that they also do takeout with pretty good packaging. We will definitely come here again!“

“No line when I got there around 6pm on a weekday. I got shiro tan tan men, braised pork belly appetizer, and my friend got the tonkatsu ramen. Good quality noodles, but the broth is on the salter side. The pork belly appetizer reminded me of Vietnamese braised pork, and it definitely needed to be paired with rice...plain white rice. I tried with the ramen, but it only added more saltiness to the already salty ramen.“

“The food was good. This is the first time I had ramen in a proper Japanese restaurant and I liked it. The chicken Karaghi that the spouse had was very okayish. The edamame starter was good. Though it was just boiled and salted, it was yummy. The host helped me how to eat them. That was generous of them because I was struggling to eat it, the way it was served.“

“The best Ramen in San Mateo. I work downtown so I've had a chance to try most of the other ramen places here, but Ramen Dojo is by far my favorite. The others I try once, and then I just think to myself, I wish I'd just gone to Ramen Dojo! The noodles are really springy and have a fabulous texture. I usually get the garlic pork with regular spice. Lifts your spirits and makes you happy. The service is really fast so even if there's a line, you can get in.“

“Social Eatery is a space that has 2 restaurants and 1 boba place all in one - Noodleosophy, Rice Monster, and Grapeholic. It’s very close to the Millbrae BART/Caltrain station (a 3-minute walk) and also has a pretty big parking lot??.There’s a screen near the entrance for people that are just ordering boba to-go. If you’re there for dine-in, they’ll lead you to some seats and you can order from all three places at the same time. Lots of seats for dine-in and there’s even a foosball table⚽️.Our table had a QR code for you to see the menu and order but they brought a tablet over for us to order. Not sure why but I have no issues with that??♀️.We ordered Beef Stew & Tendon (公公半筋半腩) and Pickled & Sliced Beef (知府酸湯肥牛).Took a little while for the orders to arrive (almost thought that they were preparing everything from scratch and cutting a whole cow open on the spot?), and there were kids running around in the place so it was pretty loud?. But after tasting the food, I have to say that the wait was worth it! The servings were pretty big, and the broth was very flavorful. Wasn’t too overly seasoned and the texture of the noodles were great.“

“We had spicy tuna rice cake and both types of Ramen. Shoyu Ramen was better than Tonkotsu, though a bit more oily than we enjoy. Tonkotsu was very bland - it required more salt and spiciness. Crispy rice with Spicy Tuna was great. They do have 16% service charge.“

“My wife wasn't feeling well and was in the mood for some ramen, one of the spots we often go to, Totoro, is closed on Monday, so onto Yelp app for some advice. Placed order online for pickup, it was almost ready when I got there. We were both very happy with our orders, plenty for each of us, and quite tasty.“

“Spicy miso tsukemen was outstanding. Broth has a very smoky flavor and spice level was just right. I recommend to just get the plain option, not the special as the dipping broth already has bean sprouts, bamboo shoots, and pork. Waited about 15 minutes on a Saturday 6:30pm.“

“Sushi is very good. Loved the Happy Hour Menu. The only reason I am not giving it a 5 star on service is although our waitness was awesome, in fact she was actually a Hostess helping out, the kitchen was slow and our dessert took about 30 minutes to get to us. Which makes me believe that if it hadn't been an early weekday meal that we would have been waiting a lot longer for food. The only reason we waited was because of the Hostess/fill in Waitress. She was super nice.“

“For the love of all that is ramen this place is a damn gem. First it’s in a strip mall and looks like a dump from the outside but do not and I mean this do not let this fool you. The inside is just fine. The staff was fast and polite not a lot of time for chitchat they were busy cause this place filled up and fast. The food is honestly some of the best ramen I have ever had. I have been to Japan and I have had my share there. The ramen is wonderful and worth the drive in to try. Do not let the look on the outside scare you away they probably have to do this to keep this place what it is. One of the best ramen places I’ve been to.Bottom line go and go early and go hungry.“

“Love this restaurant. We know the owner, who is also the sushi chef, and we have been eating food from this restaurant but mostly order to go. It has plenty of items on the menu. I like the tempura. It is cooked nicely. The sashimi is fresh, and the hamachi roll is unique. The special ramen has thick chewy noodles, which is good. The soup is not that heavy. It is interesting that it has a scallop. It is yummy. Overall we are satisfied with our dinner.“

“Had early dinner at kajiken on a Friday night around 530pm. There was no wait but a line started to form as soon as we got seated. I got the homura and it was good - noodles tasted fresh with good chew. I would say this dry ramen has similarities to Taiwanese minced pork noodles. On the table are condiments (garlic, chili oil, vinegar, sesame oil, sesame seed) for you to adjust to your taste. I think i prefer regular ramen with broth; i was missing the super rich soup that comes to mind when i think "ramen". Having said that, it was a good dish if you're in the mood for it.“
