A friend in Utah gave us six free meal cards for cafe Rio. It doesn’t say on the card anywhere that you could only use a certain amount at a time. We ordered all of our food with our kids and handed them the cards and they REFUSED to use them all. Said they could only use two. We begged them and finally let us use three. They said they can’t just have it be “free” although the cards were clearly for FREE meals and it’s says on the card that they can be used at ANY cafe Rio location. We felt like complete idiots because we didn’t bring money thinking it was going to be free. Had to move money around our accounts on our bank app as we are standing there because we didn’t have our main debit card. All our kids standing around confused and hungry..,,, so dumb. We weren’t looking for handouts. Just looking to use the cards we were given. We won’t be coming back here and would never recommend this location. They were not very nice or understanding at all.

I had an experience tonight at this location that I must share. I showed up at 8pm to grab the burrito I ordered online. I walked in as the staff was getting ready to close (closes at 10pm). A guy was mopping the floors which gave off a disgusting dirty wet mop smell throughout the restaurant. I went to the counter and stood there waiting for about 3min with no greeting. I was the only person there. I looked over at the kid with the mop just in time to see him use the mop to WIPE THE DRINK COUNTER with it. I couldn’t believe my eyes. WHO in their right mind would think that’s a good idea??? I am so disgusted and could never eat there again. If that’s their standards someone will eventually get food poisoning. SO GROSS. Also the burrito wasn’t that great. No thanks.
Come to this establishment if you want to get scammed. I've been to this place three times just for a quick bite to eat on my break since my job is so close . The food , the service and the most importantly the pricing are inconsistent. I've ordered two Jusr bean and rice burritos at two different times. One costing me 13 dollars one time and then the next time 9 dollars ......'mind you it's the same exact Item I'm receiving so what's with the price jump and decrease ? Today I go in just asking for a simple beans and rice ..... it's busy and I'm once again on my lunch break ... the lady with the neck tattoo tells the high school looking boy cashier it's a vegetarian tostada ..... he then precedes to tel me my total will be 13 dollars .... Excuse me ?!?!?!?!?!?!! For beans and rice with lettuce on top ! I understand these people don't make the prices but I simply ask "13 dollars for Beans and rice?" The boy shrugs it off and says I don't know . Yes ." Once again this is nothing to do with the people working the line , they don't make the prices ..... but how is it possible for that to be 13 dollars .... With no tortillas .....and like stated before the prices vary ......... maybe it's on how you look, or just their mood .... But the pricing is very inconsistent. Mind you I could of went to chipotle for better quality food and more then just beans and rice for 13. Oh on top of it all. They beans were a little hard !!!! Save to say you should come here if you want to be scammed.

The food at the San Dimas location is usually fresh and delicious and this is my favorite location. Sadly, I ordered at the wrong time of day...1:45pm. With short staff between shift changes and mandatory breaks I waited over an hour for my mobile order to be ready. Within the first fifteen minutes of my wait it appeared as if 4 employees were sent home and the manager was taking her lunch break leaving only 2 employees on the food line that managed about 30 walk in customers.However, the staff and manager, Arlene, were friendly and explained (45 minutes later) that there was a shortage on the ingredients for my order. They offered substitutions or a fresh tortilla if I could wait longer. They did make my order with accuracy and offered a side or dessert for my wait. The restaurant was very clean! Thank you for satisfying my hunger on Taco Tuesday! I will be back but not between 1pm and 3pm. The Taco Tuesday Meal is a Deal and online ordering gives plenty of choices for customization.Extra Feedback for Corporate: The Cafe Rio app could use a write in/communication line with the next update for Food Allergens or special instructions. Also, your night time management, Mike, is truly FABULOUS and will call ahead if there are any questions or shortages with the mobile order. Kudos also to Lisa the female staff that juggled multiple positions/tasks and kept friendly and positive while her manager was on lunch hour break.Vegetarian options: The Pinto Beans and Guacamole are the most flavorful vegetarian options IMO. Choosing also from pickled jalapeños, black beans, rice, and extra lettuce you can make just about anything vegetarian...taco, wet burrito, tostada, or nachos. There is a vegetarian rice but it is too oily and too much cilantro (I would prefer a steamed rice option). I like that you can remove ingredients like cheese or sour cream and choose from a range of fresh flavorful salsas. We enjoy watching the tortillas being freshly made and appreciate the options-wheat, corn, or flour. It would be welcoming to add a Vegan Chorizo or Chili Colorado Tofu to the protein options.

Went in at 9:30 tonight (12/1) and they closed at 10. Drove 20 minutes for them to tell me I can only get a salad cause they are closing and have shut everything completely down, 30 minutes before close. I politely declined and suggested that they close at 9:30 if they are going to stop offering services and the ladies told me that I could go to the liquor store? I couldn't believe how rude these employees were and am very confused at their response. Regardless, won't go back there and you shouldn't after 9:30 either, saving you time now.
