AWFUL! Manager was extremely rude, service terrible, floor dirty and dangerous, door wide open when it's 55 degrees outside! Was read the riot act by the rude manager when I tried to close it. STAY AWAY from this place, it's a disgrace to the Hilton name.
Very underwhelming dining experience vs what I experienced in November. My last dining experience was amazing, I raved about the food, ambience and wait staff. This time, I ordered the porcini & chestnut arancini and black tiger shrimp and calamari cavatelli. The arancini was barely warm and the sauce for the cavatelli dish was bland. I ordered this same dish last time and it was an amazing flavor bomb! Maybe the restaurant has a different chef?? I wanted to try a new dessert, but after my main course the waitress came to the table and said.. is this going on your room? It was pretty obvious at that point she didn't want to be bothered, so I closed out my bill and left. Above Ash has a great bar, nice lounge area and ambience and has the potential to be SO much more, but I get the impression it's poorly managed. I will give this place another try in the hopes this was just an “off” night.

Had a quick weekend stay at the Carte Hotel and had dinner the first night in their restaurant, Above Ash Social. My server Marius was incredibly attentive and the food was terrific. Had the osso bucco for dinner which was incredibly tender and flavorful. Finished the meal off with some delicious dark chocolate gelato. Great meal and amazing service.

Nice spot located above a hotel. 16 floors up. Slow service. Good food. Wish the appetizer would have been out before the meal. Good cocktails even though they took 10-15 minutes. I'd go back to drink for sure. I would go back. Yes. May not be my first choice though

From guests of the hotel. This spot has horrible service. Waited over 15min and no one came over to check on us. 5+ people working and it was not busy. We decided to leave, so can comm nt on the quality of any food or drink items. 10/10 will not come again.

What a lovely rooftop restaurant at the modern style Carte- Hilton in San Diego! Loved coming here for an easy fun and delicious dinner. The service was great, one of the waitresses Jhezzie was the best she brought our drinks & food out immediately, always greeted us with a smile and gave us great recommendations of fun things to do in San Diego. One dish that stood out was the truffle poutine. The only thing better than fries would be fries topped with fried cheese & gravy and this did not disappoint. The truffle flavor brought it from a 10 to an 11/10. The restaurant lounge space itself is very modern in its style & appearance, great for anything from family vacation dinner to business dinner. I would definitely come here again to both stay in the hotel and dine in. This restaurant and hotel definitely made my stay in SD extra enjoyable.

Food was cold, the poor service, but Jackie was nice and friendly. Reception and table handler were too busy chitchatting with some lady where I had to go ask for the bill and they took their time to come!!! No hate just honest opinion from experience

Delicious food, nice atmosphere, Jessica our server was very friendly and provided fabulous service. Manager Raul was very kind to point out points of interest while we were visiting downtown.
We really appreciate the service, and we had a great table. Unfortunately, the noise in that restaurant really amplifies with a large party there being excessively loud. The food was very dry and not edible. The waiter was great, however, for 169 dollars for a party of two very pricey.

Our dinner was part of a concert we were going to, so we only had 2 options to choose from every course and we had a reservation. Even so, our dinner took 50 minutes, and it was pasta, chicken, 3 pieces of steak and fries… restaurant wasn’t even 50% full.Very disappointing overall.
