Every once in a while you find these places that just knock your socks off. Ciccia Osteria is so wonderful. My friend and I had 3 pastas and each one was so unique and flavorful. The ingredients are super fresh and high quality. The charcuterie board is great as well, although probably better suited for a party than a couple. This is a must-try restaurant in San Diego!Update: I came back two years later with my parents. We tried a number of items I didn’t have the first time. The place has gotten quite popular! We were all amazed by the quality of their desserts—it isn’t easy to find a tiramisu this good! The lasagna and veal were pretty tasty as well. The truffle mushrooms were an excellent side! All around it was another great experience!

So special, they made celebrating my mom’s birthday so special , so much love, it was very intimate, servers were delightful and food was so tasty and beautiful. Whoever said the bread was spongey didn’t know it was focaccia, and it was the best focaccia I’ve ever had, thank you guys so much, much love. Cheap prices, tasty food, lovely servers, and really nice atmosphere, will be back again very soon

Handpicked flowers and handwritten menu specials, the environment was warm and charming. Cheerful greetings in Italian and big smiles all around, the staff was engaging and personable. We were excited to try Ciccia Osteria which boasts impressive reviews, averaging 4.6 on Yelp. The only problem was the food. The bread was enriched and spongy... not unlike a hamburger bun. The Pomodoro spaghetti, the best thing we ordered, was good but nothing special or notable. The main course chicken dish – thin sliced white meat rolls, were tough and over cooked. They sat on a pile of bland potatoes and in a white sauce with spinach (I think) that was unremarkable. We decided that it would be the dessert that saves the day.... so we ordered the ricotta cake. My mother would make a fluffy ricotta cake with lemon and orange rinds, and I was sure this would be a winner like hers. Wrong. It was dense, filled with sugar, and the apricot marmalmade on top was like Smuckers jam. Nothing tasted fresh or wholesome about it. We don’t know why this place is so highly rated, but maybe it’s because of the sweet environment and loving vibe of the staff. Not sure we will revisit. Hope this review is received with the constructive spirit with which it is given.

Ciccia Osteria is a gem of authentic Italian cuisine in the heart of Barrio Logan. The chefs, Mario and Francesca, use recipes from Northern Italy and pair them with exquisite wines. They even bake their own panettone, a traditional Christmas cake. The restaurant has a cozy and charming atmosphere, with food made with love. However, parking can be tricky, so I recommend taking an Uber. They accept walk-ins, but make sure to dress warmly in winter, as they only have patio dining. The menu has a variety of dishes to suit every taste, but my personal favorite is the mushroom flan. It is creamy, savory, and simply delicious. I also enjoyed the milanese veal, which was tender and crispy. The smoky old-fashioned cocktail and the roccotta olive oil spread for the fresh bread were also amazing. And of course, I could not resist their lasagne, which was rich and satisfying.Ciccia Osteria is my new go-to place for Italian food in San Diego. I can’t wait to go back and try more of their dishes. If you are looking for a genuine and delightful Italian experience, you should definitely check it out.Ciccia Osteria has earned a Bib Gourmand designation from the Michelin Guide. This means that it offers good quality and good value cooking, which is rare to find these days.Parking: Take an UberWheelchair accessibility: Ease first floor.

I've been to Ciccia a few times before and they have kept their food quality and service too notch! It might be surprising that such a good Italian restaurant would be hidden in the Barrio Logan neighborhood, but I guess that's what makes them a hidden gem. Ciccia is fronted by a sizable covered front patio dining area, giving off garden vibes. The restaurant has a fantastic selection of house-made pastas, some common favorites and also some that quite unique. For appetizers, we ordered the Tuna Tartare and Fritto Misto. The tartare was fresh and refreshing, with an Italian flair. The fritto misto consisted of calamari, shrimp, sea bass was perfectly lightly battered. We were craving pasta, so we ordered the Unriaca, a red wine infused gemelli pasta with sausage. We also ordered the spaghetti Frutti di Mare, which is one of my favorite pasta dishes. We also ordered the special pasta dish: Gnocchiette with braised lamb Ragù. As well as the Branzino. The pasta were all delicious and had the perfect bite - not overly al dente or over cooked. The Branzino was fresh and bone free. The must have dessert is their Habanero & Apricot Ricotta Cheesecake. It's light but hits the spot! Our friends visiting from L.A. were quite moved by the delicious dishes and dessert. This visit, we ended our meal with shots of their Chamomile Grappa. It's a must try! I can't want to go back for another meal.

They had a separate Vegan menu and their pasta was absolutely fresh.Tiramisu was one of the best I’ve ever had!Parking is a problem and although there is street packing around the restaurant there’s no guarantee you’ll find a spot.

Wow, what a phenomenal find! Everything at this bistro in the barrio was superb. The house made focaccia was served with a delicious spread of creamy butter with olive oil and balsamic vinegar with orange peel. It was truly delightful. The mushroom flan was out of this world. It was light with a delicious, creamy mushroom filling and parmesan crust on the outside. Pairs well with the vermentino. The bottoli pasta with peas and prosciutto in a rich Parmesan sauce was truly decadent. The restaurant features a large comfortable patio and cozy interior. A vegan menu is available. Small but intelligent wine list available. Service was very good. Can't wait to come back.Vegetarian options: There is a vegan menu with many options for appetizer, salad and entree.Parking: It can be difficult to find parking. Rideshare might be the best bet.

Great place to catch up with friends, date night, or want to try a new meal with the family! And if you’re gluten free LIKE ME, then you’re in for such a delicious treat from beginning to end! This is the first time that I have been at an Italian restaurant where the gluten free (gf) options taste just as good as the non-gf foods! I had an appetizer, entree, sides, and dessert ALL GLUTEN FREE! And I didn’t get some random pitiful gluten free pasta, I GOT GLUTEN FREE RAVIOLI STUFFED WITH MUSHROOMS MMMM! WOW WOW WOW! I felt so special like everything was made for me! And it’s soooo challenging to find an Italian Gluten Free friendly restaurant! I felt embraced with every bite and not judged for trying to fight belly bloating (that’s why I try to eat gluten free because I get super bloated and feel sick if I don’t!). So, THIS PLACE IS WORTH EVERY penny and they’ve got very reasonable prices! because everything is delicious! My non-gf friends were also very pleased with their choices! We shared decadent desserts (yes plural gf and non-gf HIGHLY RECOMMEND!)! Also: Just for reference, yes there’s a clean restroom for customers and, while the street parking is free, it can be a challenge to find so come early! Everyone is very friendly here! Here’s what I ate and LOVE all of it!Please check out my pictures!Appetizer:Mushroom Flan - don’t knock it until you try it! There’s no visual mushrooms but it’s a rich flan that you can spread on your bread mmm and it’s all gluten free!Special menu item: Stuffed Zucchini Squash and yes the batter is gluten free!!!!Entree:Gluten Free RavioliSAUCE: parmesan sauce / greenpeas / prosciuttoSides: ROASTED POTATOES gluten freeeeee and top it with Parmesan oh-em-geeeee! Has a hearty bite and fluffy on the inside!Dessert:Panna Cota - mmm GLUTEN FREERICOTTA CAKE with and apricot habanero sauce - not gluten free BUT A MUST! SOO yummy!PS I loved the dessert menu because it was taped onto an old Italian biscuit cookie tin like you’d find at a grandmas house with a sewing kit instead of biscuit cookies LOL
