Visited this spot first night in San Diego, my girlfriend and I were seated right away on a Monday night. The ambience gives a modern vibe with chill and slow r&b/classy music. Our server checked in with us multiple times while another server made sure our cups were never empty or close to empty. Customer service A+. When I read the other reviews I expected the food to live up to the hype of the reviews people left, and the food did not disappoint one bit. Authentic Italian food is the perfect way to describe the food. The diavola pizza was spicy, cheese and tomato sauce was cooked perfect, crust and border was light and crisp, salame was tasteful, 10/10. For the calamari and shrimp, they were fried lightly and rated fresh. I would say the marinara different from most places, I don't really know how to describe it but I would prefer other marinaras at other Italian restaurants. For the penne cremosa, I enjoyed the penne pasta itself as it was not too flimsy or soft, instead the penne noodles were a little more rough. The white cream sauce was not over cooked, not too creamy, just right. However, there is a lot of mushroom in the dish so if you are not big on mushroom it will be a bit overwhelming lol. Not pictured which my girlfriend ordered was the tagliatelle with arrabbiata sauce. I'm not a big red sauce guy, but tasting her pasta I would order that myself. It had a little kick of spice in it and the flavor and seasoning in the sauce was just so appetizing. I would 100% come back to this restaurant and I 100% recommend this restaurant to any new comers and visitors like myself. They definitely deserve 5 stars for not only their authentic food but exceptional customer service.

The vegetariana pizza was alright, nothing out of the ordinary but the pizza crust itself was insanely fluffy but chewy. The pacheri pasta with vodka sauce and shaved Parmesan was to die for. Simple but great flavours.

Food was phenomenal! Our new favorite authentic Italian restaurant in South Park! The inside has a beautiful ambiance. They have areas for date night or large families. The food is amazing and every person that worked there was so attentive. Fabio, the owner, has truly taken his time to create an authentic experience for all his guests. Definitely recommend.

What a great dinner last night in South Park!! Excellent service and food; delicious takes on familiar plates & interesting takes on the not so familiar plates. We loved the fusilli siciliano and lobster ravioli. Tiramisu delightful. Sorry no photos. Look forward to more meals there, & especially trying the beautiful calzone. Lastly, parking is easy.

This was a gem of a find! In SD for a little vacation and my daughter found IL Posto on Yelp. Wow! Authentic Italian food! The gnocchi was perfection. The marinara was so fresh and flavorful. My daughter loved the Cioppino. And the tiramisu was amazing. Staff was so friendly and service was great. Lovely ambiance. If I lived here it would be one of my regular places!

We stopped in for an early dinner last Sunday. Great service and even better food. Pizza was excellent. House salad was fresh and tasty. Penne with spicy red sauce was cooked perfectly. We will be back.

The best most authentic Italian spot in San Diego. My boyfriend and I go as much as we can. You can truly taste the difference the way they make their pastas compared to anywhere else. The service is always top tier and we love that they seat you accordingly when you have reservations. The vibe is always great there.

Came for dinner on a Friday night and was seated instantly. Was pleasantly surprised to see that they had whole other dining room with plenty of seating. The menu options were amazing-so much to choose from. My friend and I ended up splitting a Caesar salad and the linguine alla nerano. Both were extremely delicious!!! The service was incredible too. They have a great happy hour that I will definitely be trying in the near future. I highly recommend

What a treat! This place is a total gem. I have not been to South Park before and our visit to Il Posto was the perfect introduction to the area. Quaint, well decorated space with a beautiful ambiance and delicious food. Mauro, our server, was excellent! We came at lunch time during the week day and had no trouble getting seated and tended to. Our group ordered a variety of dishes from pizza, to sandwiches and salads, and all were freshly prepared and tasty. Prices were also very reasonable too (all food items on their menu is "happy hour pricing" from 11:45 am - 3:00 pm!) Looking forward to stopping in again.

What I liked about this location is that it sits in a neighborhood community. We were lucky to have a window seat which allowed us to watch all the folks out and about. It appears to be a lively area. All the servers were attentive to their guests. The restaurant was full but the noise level wasn't high. We tried a pizza for our party of four as an appetizer. It was a good choice! All the entrees were nicely presented and prepared perfectly. Certainly a place we'd try again.

Pizza is my primary food group and I've tried most places in San Diego. Their pizza might be the best I've ever had in the city and could compete for some of the best pizza in Naples. Their prices of $20 for a pizza feels a bit steep but is consistent with other Italian places. They have a lot of Italian food which looks good but I have yet to try. Atmosphere works for either a casual meal or a fancy night out.

Ohhhhhh myyyyy!! My husband and I are owners of two restaurants in Connecticut and recently moved to San Diego and have been on a hunt to find good Italian food. We have finally found it here!! We had the buffalo cheese pizza and the penne alla vodka. The pizza was nice and thin but held firm when you took a bite, fluffy Neapolitan style crust, and the penne vodka was cooked PERFECTLY with incredible sauce. We had a chocolate lava cake to end the night and it was the cherry on top. We’re both vegetarian and really enjoyed the vast options and ability to enjoy multiple vegetarian OR vegan entrees if desired. Our server Davide was so friendly and attentive, and the owner was seen going around table to table to check on everyone. My only wish is that they had white table cloths and candles/dimmed lighting to make it a bit more romantic. Our new go-to date night spot, and reasonably priced. So happy to have found Il Posto ♡
