We are here with a group one evening. We were able to get a largish reservation at the last minute in the middle of the week. They had a good spicy margarita though a bit pricey. The food was expensive but excellent. Really appreciated the costilla de res in particular.

I had friends in town and we were looking for someplace to grab a light bite. It was too early for dinner and too late for lunch, so we stopped in to Javier's because it had nice decor. I'll start by saying this: we only had a few items on the menu and we had lots of dietary accommodations. Chips and salsa as well as guacamole were good. We had a vegetarian diner who got enchiladas, which were actually pretty good. We also had a diner with celiac disease that ordered chicken fajitas; they were forgettable. Rice and beans, fries, tortillas, all perfectly fine. The reason this place is worth five stars is because of the vibe, decor, and most of all service. We were kindly and unpretentiously greeted by the hostesses and manager, which could go either way for a La Jolla establishment at this price point. Richard was our server and he was exceptional. His service is the reason I will come back to try some more of the menu to form a better opinion of the food. As I mentioned, we had multiple dietary restrictions in our party. Richard never made us feel rushed, nor did he give poor service when we decided to have only a few items due to the nutritional quirks in our group. In honesty, it seems like a place to enjoy the vibe, be seen, and enjoy your cocktail. But I will return to give the food a fair evaluation, as the crudos, antojitos, and guisados look like they could be good. Look for an update on this place from me.

Cool atmosphere, delicious osso bucco, filet was aight, understand it was busy but felt rushed, margarita was watered down, maybe I was unlucky but underwhelming especially for the price

Bad experience. We made a reservation for 6.30PM. The place was very noisy, crowded and chaotic. After waiting for 25 minutes we get a table in the hallway of the restaurant. We decided to leave and didn't order anything.

So the food is fabulous but music is so loud you can't even talk so for that reason will not return .... But this restaurant is amazing if you want to see a bunch of super fat women dressed in clothes half their size!!! It's amazing how bad these women look and they think they look great ..... NOT !!!!!!

The 6 of us each had something different from chile verde to seafood to enchiladas and all were delicious. Ambiance was lovely and our waiter was a sweetheart. 10 out of 10 and we'll definitely be back!

Stepping into Javier's La Jolla, I was instantly teleported from the mundane existence of mall life into what can only be described as a fiesta that never ends. It's as if the building itself is in denial of its mall-adjacent geography, throwing an upbeat party every day to prove it's on permanent vacation.Let's talk salsa. Oh, the salsa! A concoction so exquisite, I pondered asking for a straw rather than a spoon. It's not just a condiment; it's a way of life here at Javier's. I half expected the staff to offer it by the glass as a pre-dinner refreshment. If they bottled this magic, I'd wear it as cologne. The menu is a culinary masterpiece, a symphony of flavors where every dish plays first violin. It's as though the chefs have found a way to distill joy and infuse it into every bite. The taquitos appetizer? A revelation. I half expected a choir of angels to sing with every crunch. And the specialty drinks? Let's just say they've got more personality than most of my exes.Navigating the mall's parking labyrinth could dampen one's spirits before dining, but fear not! The valet service, a mere $10, is your chariot awaiting. It's less a parking service and more a rite of passage into the jubilant embrace of Javier's.In summary, dining at Javier's La Jolla is an experience akin to crashing the most exclusive party, where the salsa flows like wine, the atmosphere rivals the best of nightclubs, and the food... oh, the food is the stuff of legends. If you haven't been, you haven't lived. 10/10, would recommend.

Made a reservation for 8:00 and we were waiting till 9:00. We asked around 8:20 how much longer and they said 10-15 minutes. Not sure why I went through the effort of making a reservation. Hostesses were rude and took advantage of the fact that we were young. Food was okay but not worth the trouble. Would not recommend.
