Came here for the speakeasy and it was so great. The servers were awesome as were the drinks. It's a 2-drink minimum and they add a 22% gratuity.

Room 56 is one of the best speakeasies I've visited - and I've been to a lot! The bookshelf entrance was so fun, and every cocktail was unique and perfectly crafted. I loved that the corresponding craft cocktail was included to indicate the flavor profile of the Room 56 version. The conversation starters on our table was a wonderful touch. Also, since it was a Wednesday night, the space was so calm and quiet. I'll be back the next time I'm in San Diego!

This was cool little speakeasy was inside the Moxy hotel. SERVICE: Our host was super friendly. Made a lot of jokes (my kinda host) and got us seated pretty quickly. She explained the menu well and got us on our way to our drinkies in no time at all.DRINKS: They offer a lot of cool drinks. My friend tried the Kookaburra. (Picture) and said it was great. I had the old fashioned and it was very tasty as well.If you can figure out how to get in? Go give them a try.

The location, entrance and decor was great. My drink was fine beautiful presentation but average tasting. The bartender was so rough with his shakers, slamming them on the bar, aggressively letting bottles of bitters drop in his metal crate. It was too much to hear. An assault on my senses. We were sat at the bar and I must have jumped every time he smacked the martini shaker with what my best guess is his ring. Ben had zero personality too. I understand he was struggling keeping up with the demand but between the loud creation of drinks, the music and the acoustics of the small room it was very loud. Not a good experience and with so many other speakeasies in town, I would not recommend.

You get a text a few hours before your reservation stating a min. spend of 40 USD per person and an automatic gratuity of 22 %.That’s not how things work. We cancelled our reservation and will visit another place, where I choose the tip. Raise your prices and pay your staff properly, if you’re unable to do so at current levels.

Travel back in time, and style, to what must be probably the best cocktail bar in San Diego. This really should be on every ones list of places to visit when in the area. Staff are super fun and very knowledgeable.

If you're looking for great drinks and a nice atmosphere, Room 56 is the spot. With the exception of the parties that speak WAY TO LOUD for the setting, this place is a gem with great drinks and an amazing staff! The setting is very intimate with limited seating... and while it is a "bar," I would consider it a higher end bar. A place where obnoxious or overbearing patrons should be asked to dial it back a notch.Never the less, we will always visit when in town and accept those who simply can't hold their liquor.A+++ for the staff... they (and the drinks they make) are amazing!

OMGGG!!!! This place is amazing. Definitely make reservations. The entrance is so fun!! The bartender, Ben, was absolutely amazing!! The vibes are immaculate. The drinks were soooo tasty! We ordered the kookaburra, autumn bonfires, Montezuma's treasure, and then a bartenders special. I requested fruity with dark liquor. He delivered!!!! I love it here. 10/10 recommend

These drinks are an experience... One of my top 3 places for drinks in San Diego. Just wish they had bread sticks or nuts or a tiny little snack to go with the drinks since I get drunk so fast. Prefect drinks for sipping with great company though and I take all my friends that visit me

We went in only because the bar was in the lobby of the hotel we stayed. Turned out be a typical tourist trap bar: heavy on ice and vet light on alcohol. But great terrace to soak in the San Diego night life.

A very cool speakeasy, with a fun entrance.Drinks were great, as was the relaxed ambiance. Will definitely add it to my rotation when in San Diego

Came here on a Sunday night, and there wasn't a patron in sight. Rather than be a snatch (like most barkeeps would be), the bartenders were extremely accommodating. One of them came over, asked my drink preference, explained the menu, gave my partner and me some trivia cards, etc. they had the opportunity to tell me to GTFO, and they didn't... maybe I'm soft, but I feel like that says a lot in this biz. By the time we left, the bar was half full. Lots of laughing, lively vibe!
