My family and I always stop here whenever we’re in San Diego. We love Somi Somi. It is delicious every time and we always have a good time. The atmosphere is clean and nice. The service was exceptional. They greeted us immediately when we walked in. We ordered 5 Taiyakis and one Scot serve. My daughter dropped her fish taiyaki and the gentlemen behind the counter saw and offered her another one without charge. He actually paid attention to us. That was really sweet and kind. I appreciate that kind gesture a lot. My kids were happy. Keep up the good work! Thank you so much!

Taiyaki is sooo good. These little rice flour waffle fish are just crunchy, crispy, chewy and hot! I always have to ask for extra crispy, bc I've gotten them too underdone, and they were no bueno. A few times ago, the fish I received were very pale, so I brought them back to have them re-do for extra crispy. They can't give the fish extra time on the taiyaki maker, they have to make a brand new batch. So, I waited the 20 min or whatever, and they basically gave me the same colored, textured fish. I was too irritated to bring it back or complain. But, it was like I was eating a Gummy eraser or something. Maybe it was just the personnel that day. Anyway, take note that you can't order the sweet potato flavor there, you have to walk a couple feet to Bingsoo. But at Bingsoo, you can't order the oreo, even though I think all the Taiyaki are made on the same skillet. Whatever. I've not had the soft-serve, but they all look great, too. I'm a sucker for the savory Cheddar option, and the sweet potato. Hubs likes all the sweet flavors of the Nutella and Oreo. Just depends on your personal tastes.

This place is so much fun to go with friends or family. I take my family every time they're in town, and my friends and I go whenever we do a dinner in Convoy. I feel like it's priced very well, pretty cheap for how much food you're getting, and the staff is always so incredibly nice. They're also super helpful if you don't know how to order or what to order :) There isn't room to sit inside so be ready to take it to go.
