10/10 would recommend the Party Table, located inside the Pasta Shop, especially if you're looking for something intimate with friends. This is what I did for my birthday and it was a lovely experience. The chef's selection was an array of dishes. It felt like food and wine just kept coming to our table. Initially, I was looking for a place that could accommodate a table for 10 which seemed almost impossible in SF, or at least the restaurants I enjoy eating at. To add, I'm not the biggest fan of eating Italian at restaurants or tasting menus / small plates. So I took a big gamble when I made reservations with Penny Roma...but I'm so glad I did! Each dish was flavorful, the service was attentive, and the environment was chill.

Penny Roma is my favorite restaurant in SF. While they don't have my favorite single dish in the city, the overall average is super high. Definitely get the pastas.I came on Tuesday night 4/9/24 7:30 with a reservation and was seated immediately. We ordered the SF restaurant week menu and were absolutely blown away. You get everything on the menu. It's super high value and we left very full. The pork chop portions are huge, maybe too much so, which is a crazy thing to say. We ordered the foccaccia bread as extra ($10) and it was super warm, fresh, pillowy. Great for mopping up sauce though again you're gonna be so full after that most people can skip it.Service was impeccable and very warm. Really appreciated that they provided meat knives for the pork chops after they saw us struggling without us asking for it.Total with SF restaurant week, orange soda, and the extra foccaccia bread with tax and tip came out to be ~$110

Good ambiance, delicious pasta, fantastic and attentive service from the team. The cauliflower sformato was delish. Want to go back to try more pasta dishes, which is definitely the speciality.

Great meal. The crudo and arancini and pasta were all perfectly done and presented. Every bite popped with flavor. And the atmosphere was understated, comfortable, and lovely. We will be back!

The food was only ok, for the price, the yellow fin tuna appetizer was tasty but it was so small, main course was nothing special, the dessert cake was dry and boring-Last time here was when it was Central Kitchen, and the food was 10 times better.

Fantastic experience, delicious food, lots of Italian wines, and cool atmosphere. Tuna tartare with pistachios is a must! Pasta was incredible. We shared the steak to finish. Highly recommended!Vegetarian options: Accommodating for vegetarians

Wonderful vibes. Pasta was truly delicious! As was all the crudo in the beginning. We did the Dinner Party Menu, which is chef’s selection, and it was perfect. Everyone got to try a bite (and go for seconds and thirds of their favorites) in a meal served family style.

The food is really good; the chef’s menu was very pleasant. However, the serving was waaaay too quick; and the place is NOISY. Expect to leave with a headache…

After visiting here with some co-workers, I realized that if I came here again I would order and try every single pasta on their menu. We went with the pre-fixe meal which was a TON of food, but had a few rounds that I would have skipped including the porkchop entree and a lackluster dessert (some type of ginger cake?). Their pesci crudi (raw seafood) rounds were all tasty and a unique (for me) way to start an Italian meal. Whereas I was not impressed by any of the antipasti options we tried. If you do order the dinner party menu, I found some of the rounds to come out in too close succession with not always getting a full explanation of what they dropped in front of you.

Ok, so I'm from nyc and have had my fair share of dining. This restaurant had so much potential but definitely left feeling disappointed. The pasta was really good --got the pappardelle and tagliatelle ragu. But the wait staff - RUDE and aloof, rush you through your order and act as if they're doing you a favor when they answer when asked for their recommendations instead of offering it themselves . The first waitress we had, I had a question whether the prosciutto was a spin off of the actual dish or had prosciutto and she literally said "I don't understand what your question is???" "It says it on the menu." When I asked to clarify if she was actually being that rude she just proceeded to give me the sass. It was very embarrassing. I've worked in the restaurant industry and in customer service and I would have gotten fired with an attitude like that. After requesting we be paired with someone else the following wait staff was extremely sassy, didn't check in on us at all and just overall felt so uncomfortable. The initial waitress did come by to give me a fake apology for being rude and it was so awkward. The olive oil cake was just regular cake stuffed with sugar, not good at all. Would I come back here for the pasta? Sure. Ambiance and drinks? Yes- dark and airy with lots of plants & waterfalls Would I come back here overall. No.

Came here a while ago for my bf's birthday. Food and service were amazing - we didn't have reservations but were seated almost immediately. We really loved the focaccia, had to order it twice!
