they confirmed the reservation multiple times via text and email for Omakase Ondo counter-seat. I tried to call them several times to confirm verbally since there had be a location move. They never answered and would never call back, but kept getting specific confirmations and replying. When we arrived they said Omakase Ondo was not available. I had called as recently as 1 hour before we arrived but got no answer/call back, but when we arrived there were 4 employees waiting with nothing to do (just 1 table of customers). Clearly they simply did not care to respond to customers despite giving the number to do so and the Opentable service to book. This is the worst service I have ever experienced. They clearly have no idea what they are doing or did not care. Do not patronize this establishment.

It's really not worth the $. We had sushi experience ($150 -$200 per person). We spent $400+ last night... the sashimi were pre-cut. Chef took out a plate with plastic cover, all sashimi were cutter... he just put it onto everyone's plate.. really??? Chef has some hiccup of introducing his own meal... not sure if it's nervous? Or it's the new dish for him....? The room deco is very mediocre. The bar table is too big that we are away from chef, doesn't have the ideal initiate experience watching him work (he is not working very much anyways..) the music is louder than it should be.. the light is dim but has no focus.. Very disappointed.

Greeted warmly by staff, who were highly attentive and very polite and professional. The food came out at a great pace, each dish with a good description. My favorite pieces of fish were the mackerel, tuna belly and uni. The wagyu was also divine with the truffle salt and gold flakes. Each intermittent warm dish that came out gave a sense of warmth and homey cooking, but elevated and beautifully displayed. I am sad this place is closing but happy to hear they are changing locations, and the chef and staff will continue working at another restaurant in the interim. Would highly recommend coming here and experiencing the omakase.

A great experience at the bar with the chef Jason. Delicious and high quality fish, we are definitely coming back!If you are in town and like good quality nigiri, definitely visit! Two points minor points the we wish were improved: the quality of the ginger, the intelligibility of the waitress’ explanation.

Absolutely worth the experience. It's dinner and a show. We had a great conversation with the chef. He explained everything served and answered all questions whether they were related to dinner or his personal life. We planned to do the supplement A but we were the perfect level of full by the end of the courses. The fish was amazing. I could on and on. The price could have been $200 per person instead of $145 and I would still think it's worth it

Did their omakase, which was non-traditional and ok (not too expensive). Service was fairly poor unfortunately -- often had to ask twice or thrice for a request to be fulfilled, and long waiting times.

This is one of my go to omakase places in San Francisco. And $95. It is one of the better values and the quality of the fish is always terrific. The types of fish they serve are pretty standard so don't expect anything to out of the ordinary, but rest, assured, the quality is going to be excellent. Although it is not nearly at the level of a place like Kusakabe, it is also about half the price at $95 versus 180.

A wonderful omakase experience with fresh ingredients, an excellent chef, great sake pairing and service. One of my best Japanese food experiences anywhere in the world. A MUST visit.Found parking in the street across from the restaurant. Was a quiet week night night but a steady stream of guests came in including someone with a baby, noise levels were low and the ambience comfortable and warm, service attentive but discreet.

The quality of the meal was very good. Sushi was extremely fresh and tasty. The dumpling appetizer and shrimp tempura were super. Service was friendly and atmosphere was pleasant. The bill was above average.

Overrated for the Omakasa which was overpriced relative to the freshness of the fish. Went there on a Saturday night this November and both the fish and the rice were pretty stiff and the Omakasa flavors were not particularly umami. The uni which was an extra charge and was not the freshest; borderline having to return to kitchen. Staff was very attentive and nice. I still had a nice dinner but probably wont return.

Dinner was fabulous. The fish quality is amazing, especially the salmon. This is a traditional Japanese restaurant, the type you find in Japan. The omakase menu is a great value. Highly recommend for sushi lovers.

Amazing in every way. Kind staff, beautiful interior, excellent fish. Had the Sashimi tasting plate of 10 different fish + an omakase 6 course menu. The omakase dishes were creative and delicious, usually high quality fish dressed in a sauce and caviar. Extremely satisfying meal.

The service is on a different level. The waiters we're extremely friendly and even noticed my friend was left handed and rotated each of their plates. The sushi was delicious as well.

I am disconcerted that I haven't been here sooner. It is an improved take on Omekase. No red miso soup, no shiso leaf, and even better, fish I haven't had before. Congratulations to an innovative Chef Shimizu and the Mins Group for innovation that sets it apart. The best aspect is the different fish and an innovative presentation of the sushi, all at a reasonable price point for omekase in the City, and the best version of tamagotchi ever! Also of import is his Hokkaido uni, the best and untreated with baking soda as so many fishmongers do. Chef also refuses to use Santa Barbara uni. As he says, to get a flavorful uni, it must come from very cold oceans, and that's Hokkaido to a "t." Also noteworthy were the tataki suzuki, akami, and mukihotate, also from Hokkaido. I like the three sets of four nigiri separated with cooked or other dishes manner of presentation. I also enjoyed the move away red or white miso soups and its substitution with a French style creamy soup, in this case a miso potato bisque with oven roasted seafood. This is so much superior to the standard miso soups. Fantastic! The only misses was rather strange request that guest wear a mask when out of their seats. The mask mandate is long over and there was no such requirement at another Mins Group restaurant, Izakaya Hon, where I dined a few nights ago. Why annoy the customer with it? The other miss was the counter at the omekase bar, it's too short, it extends less than half way up my thighs and I was leaning over to eat. Otherwise a fantastic omekase experience.
