I ordered the birria dinner plate. When I took a bite of the meat, it was so dry I couldn't even swallow it! I had to drink my drink to get it down! I went to the man at the counter and told him the meat was too dry and I couldn't eat it. I asked him to please change the meat on my plate, instead, he took my plate and changed out the entire meal, and gave me less than what I had on my first plate. I had asked for carnitas, they gave me 1/3 less food than I had on the original plate! I even gave them a 15% tip when I placed my order! Their customer service sucks! The rice tasted like pure tomato sauce! It was nasty! I went to the restroom and it was disgusting! There was urine on the seat and floor, the floor was sticky, no toilet paper on the holder, and no soap to wash your hands! They really don't care about customer service, they'd better step it up or they will be out of business! I will never go there again!

Maybe it was just a very bad day for them (ordered around 1pm, maybe the end of a lunch rush?) but it's hard to overstate how far this place has fallen from its former glory as the birthplace of the burrito as we know it ... The one I got today tasted like a burrito-attempt by an elementary school cafeteria. The meat must've been sitting around awhile, the salsas were bland, the chips (an extra charge) were unsalted cardboard out of a bag. There are plenty of burritos to be had in the mission and I recommend you look elsewhere. I am always a little conflicted about leaving a bad review but this was just kind of shocking. I hope they get it together because it is an SF institution.

The food is fresh and is legit. The selection is amazing and is SO good. I love love this place. I am visiting SF and came here to eat here, aside other places. It's the $hit.

Super authentic hole in the wall restaurant serving delicious Mexican food. I got the super burrito with chicken. It reminded me of my grandma's cooking as a kid. The burrito was huge and well worth the money. Could be tidier inside.Vegetarian options: Vegetarian fajitas and enchiladas

What a dissapointment. This used to be a favorite in the Mission. I returned after a few years absence, to find shabby, dirty place. Hasn't been painted in years. Food was mediocre at best, then I had a stomach ache after consuming a crappy, greasy taco. Talk about resting on your laurels! Will never return.

It’s really sad to see the state of La Cumbre. They use to be the top dog, yet they keep letting me down with silly mistakes left and right. I’m writing this because they just forgot steak in my steak burrito. Other times they’ve forgotten sour cream and guac. I chose La Cumbre to be the first mission burrito for my brother in law from Mexico, and the order was off across the board. My guess is the place is being neglected by management. I hope they can turn around

Terrible service, the charge increases it. And one is going to make the claim saying that they are trips to the bathroom since they charge 2 dollars for each time one goes to the bathroom so one consumes it, I do not recommend it.

The power of equality--- Red Hot Chili Peppers harmony in my head I recently went to Taqueria La Cumbre with Marcelo. He is my friend for the past five years and a mentor who hails from Brazil. Marcelo lives near this Taqueria. The Taqueria that invented the Mission Burrito. Wow! Marcelo invited me for a burrito that apparently was named after him. No way. I couldn't believe it. Marcelo like me is a longtime vegan. Apparently the Marcelo burrito here comes with pinto beans, rice, and avacado with green sauce on the side. The Marcelo burrito is by default vegan which is awesome and comes with no chips which makes it more affordable. That's what he said and it is all true aka Satya. I think it was only $8 or so which is super affordable for San Francisco. Name eats for under $10 in San Francisco. Yamo, here, and ______. Fill in the blank. Hit me up for affordable plant strong eats when you get the 411. The only caveat is feedback and critique not to Marcelo yet to who made our burritos for Marcelo's burrito was slightly bigger than mine. I would suggest burritos being the same size yet perhaps since Marcelo has his own burrito named after him and even is on the printed receipt with Marcelo Burrito printed on it since his burrito is in the restaurant's system he should get a bigger burrito! Burrito slightly bigger or not. It hit the spot, filling, and tasty. It was just what I needed after a trip to Miami doing an intensive yoga retreat for two weeks and seeing my fam for another week in Cocoa Beach. Perfect introduction back to the Mission aka my hood. Thank you Marcelo. Thank you Taqueria La Cumbre for the solid default vegan Marcelo burrito. Tasty affordable eats in the little city by the Bay. I will be back like Arnold said!
