Sitting at the bar. You gotta pick up your own food at a window. Drink was ok. Why tip well when u have to get ur own food. And they wanted me to pay before I got my food.

Terrible bartenders. I have no words for that. This place needs a manager. Literally they call you to come to their station as you are siting on the bar so that you can order. Extremely rude behavior. One bartender said that he is coming as he is sipping his and the other one is not even bothering to reply my request verbally when I asked for water. I could be a great place but not with those people. Go there as a group and shame that behavior. Unfortunately, they need to learn how to work in service industry. Very unsatisfying to experience.

Food is surprisingly good for a fun bar setting with video games. Making this a go to spot for casual bites and drinks.

I love this bar. It is far from its former incarnation. They have great bar snacks and the games are fun. Come check it out and see for yourself.

Not a fan of any of the food served here. I really feel like they're trying too hard to have a different menu when all we want is good bar food.

Fun spot with a lot of great games. Drinks were crazy expensive though. 33 dollars for two, plus tip.

A fun bar with good ambiance. Loud but not too loud. Big space with plenty of seats and screens. I love their glowing paintings on the wall. They also have plenty of old school video game consoles for a quarter a game. They will bring back memories. We watched the 49er's game here and they won. What a fund night. Their drinks are delicious and reasonable priced. Will try their food next time.
Would avoid honestly. Doesn’t accept an official California drivers license at the door for entry.

came here for trivia night on Thursday! This was a great trivia, there were multiple rounds - the questions were fun and challenging and the MC was so fun. They started promptly at 7:30, and it lasted a few hours. It got really crowded, and we had gotten there around 6:30 to snag a table, but there was also a happy hour before. Got the Pork Adobo Sammy which the Sammy itself was alright, the bread just didn't seem right and the coleslaw was overpowered by the adobo. The tater tots with furikake seasoning on it was very crispy and very savory!

Fun place for all ages. Amazing collection of old arcade games kept the kids occupied for hours while the adults got to have some adult beverages.

Stepping into 'The Detour' felt like finding a hidden gem in the heart of the Castro neighborhood. The melding of craft beer with vintage video arcades created an atmosphere that resonated with my love for both nostalgia and a good brew. Our group was pleasantly surprised by the array of appetizers, each bite unveiling a burst of flavor that perfectly complemented the diverse craft beer selection. The pizza was a delightful twist, adding to the overall charm of the place. Can't wait to detour back there soon!

I've been to this arcade bar several times and its a hit every time. I definitely recommend Wednesdays for drag bingo. The bartenders take your order promptly and serve up tasty drinks. They also submit your food orders and I highly recommend the onomiyaki tots over the nori tots. So much fun! You'll enjoy the arcade games in this vibrant environment. Good luck on Black Emperor.
