Got a table immediately! Pretty quick service, the food comes out in about 15-20 minutes. Ordered the mentai cream sauce udon. Really flavorful but also tasted a bit like Alfredo. My cousin ordered the curry udon and katsu donburi. The Katsu is served over eggs and onions which combined tastes really good. The katsu donburi also comes with a mini udon bowl so it's a lot of food if you're planning to share.

I just love udon, and this place, snagged right inside the Japanese Peace Plaza mall's East end, hits all the right spots.If you're not looking to be productive for the rest of the day, the curry udon should be the obvious choice. The sauce is thick and coats the chewy noodles perfectly, and it's also littered with small bits of tempura to give some texture in an otherwise texturally homogeneous dish, save the katsu and the soft-boiled egg.The tonkatsu ramen is also heavier, although not as much. The chashu was tender and compliments the creamier broth, and the shrimp tempura was much flakier than I had thought it to be.Great small lunch spot.

When we got on the waitlist at the restaurant around 6pm, it says eta was 40+ minutes. But it only took us about 25 minutes to get seated.The foods were served fast. They have many creative udon dishes that all look pretty good.We tried two different dishes. The udon noodles were okay but the soup/sauce (for dried noodles) and toppings were very flavorful.

Solid Nabeyaki Udon, complete with chicken, fish cake, maitake mushroom, shrimp tempura and tempura flakes. Thick noodles well-cooked. The broth, while tasty, lacked much depth beyond salt. While normally sweet adverse, a hint more sweetness would have brought the overall palette to perfection.Excellent location within Kinokuniya Building of Japan Center. A pleasing aesthetic well-reflecting San Francisco Japantown.

I really enjoyed the food at Udon Mugizo! I wanted something light and got the Niku Udon. The noodles tasted great and were homemade. The texture was really nice. I also enjoyed the broth which was well flavored and not too heavy. We put our name on the waitlist when we arrived and waited around half an hour for a table for two. There's a lot of cute spots around the restaurant so highly recommend exploring after you've checked in at the restaurant.

Very authentic Japanese restaurant with very savory thick noodle udon soup. Comes with a wide variety of garnishes and goodies including tempura and chashu. Their unsweet iced matcha tea topped it off with a nice refreshing finish. Definitely a winter/spring time meal.

It has been a while since the last time we were here! We came back just before our trip back home :) We just don’t want to miss it! We ordered a few dishes of appetizers and we both ordered Mentai as our main course because it is too good and we don’t want to share :D Our server is great and very attentive as well! She always checked in with us and made sure everything is alright! Her name is June! Great service and recommendation :)The ambience is great, not so crowded outside as they have a waiting list system and you can walk around and come back when the table is ready! Quite convenient! The music is not too loud too! We love it here overall! :) Thanks June for your great service as well! We’ll come back for more!

So yummy and consistent. Though I am a little sad the urchin udon is no longer regularly offered, everything else is delicious - noodles are chewy, broth is savory and tempura is yum.
