I met up with a friend here on June 28, 2021 for lunch at 11am. At first I was a little worried that the parking lot was small and that they weren't allowing indoor dining yet (although at least I liked that they're still taking extra COVID precautions). The owner still let me use the restroom that was accessible from the parking lot. It was small and clean. My only complaint is that it was hot and we waited about 10 minutes in the sun for our food (so maybe call ahead of time to place an order), but it all worked out. Parking on the street seems limited (not a lot of spaces and there's only 1 hour parking), but there is a park that is a 3 minute drive away. Vincent Lugo Park had restrooms and ample seating in the shade. The food was fresh and the cold noodles, cold tofu, and the cucumber and garlic salad were excellent options for the weather. The cold noodles had red pepper and were mildly spicy (plus I'm pretty sure they were vegetarian...the dressing was just a light oil+red pepper mixture from what I could tell). My friend had a generous portion of hot tea, too. We each had our own noodle plate and split the tofu and cucumber sides, and it was all satisfying (I didn't leave hungry or over stuffed). I'm so glad that I read about this restaurant on a hidden gems list about the San Gabriel Valley, and I'm really thankful they are weathering the pandemic and are still open. Extra bonus points for this being a local/mom and pop shop. I can't wait to go back again soon! Oh and they said that cash or card were fine, so we paid by card. I'd bring cash, too, just in case a card reader goes down (and have pity on people when that happens...it's not fun to deal with that, and I'm speaking from experience working as a cashier).

Support your local restaurants!! Especially ones like Omar, with delicious regional food. I've never had Uyghur food before, so when my friend suggested grabbing food from here, I jumped at the opportunity. It was super easy to place an order in advance online and pick up was a breeze (they have a parking lot!). Food-wise, we tried the big plate chicken and the lamb skewers. Both were fantastic! The big plate chicken comes with the noodles separated from two giant tubs of the chicken and sauce. The hand pulled noodles have a wonderful texture and are able to easily pick up the delicious sauce. The chicken is cooked well and not dried out. This dish alone would easily feed 2-3 people (for 2 folks, we had one tub of chicken leftover). The lamb skewers were also delicious and a great addition to get some mutton into our meal. While I've never had this cuisine before, I am now a convert! When I picked up, it seemed like business was somewhat slow... Let's rally around a local business that serves delicious, unique food.

Omar Restaurant is a great Xinjiang stop that is delicious and unique.Currently during the pandemic (as of 4/10/21), indoor dining is not available and they unfortunately don't have an area set-up for outdoor dining. They do have a big parking area available and you'll be ordering through their backdoor entrance. At 2:00PMish on a Saturday, things were quiet (my friend and I were the only customers). We were greeted by the owner, who cooked our food in about 15 minutes. I forget if they were cash only but would advise to definitely have cash on hand just in case.We both got the lag man (the hand-pulled noodles). There were plenty of noodles and was absolutely delicious. It comes with a big container of the spicy oil, lamb, and veggies (would advise that for two people, should probably get either a second order or another entree on the side). Even taking the food from the SGV back home to the OC, and slightly reheating the items, it was still super delicious. The spice isn't too hot (about a light medium) and it definitely filled me up!Definitely would suggest to stop by if you love noodles, lamb, and more! I asked the owner's son how business was and he said that things were fairly so-so and haven't changed much since the start of the pandemic, so if you've been a fan in the past or think you want to give it a try, definitely support Omar's Halal Restaurant!

Oh wow - I thought I reviewed this when I first visited back in 2014 but apparently not. Omar Restaurant is a great Xinjiang stop that is delicious and unique. First time trying Uyghur food, and I wasn't disappointed. I was referred here by a local, and man was I glad I made the drive out. The Lambs feet were delicious, but understand when ordering it that it's the foot, so there isn't a lot of meat. But all that collagen makes the broth healing. The meat pie was delicious, too. Can't wait to try more from here. The house made yogurt is a must.

Bad service bad food. Don't recommend people to come here. It typical mainland china type of restaurant. Not worth of our time and money to go there. If they don't change their mindset, i don't think they will survive.

Decided to try this place out after a recommendation from a friend, however it wasn't as delightful as I thought it would be. I feel that with Covid, the business doesn't expect to keep up as much with customers. The food I would say is just okay... and most of us isn't really packed well for takout. I ordered the lamb kabobs, the meat pie, and the big chicken plate; all of which came at a recommendation as the top dishes here. The lamb was cold and non-appetizing. It comes packed with a lot of cumin which is great, but they weren't good cold. Prolly would have been a lot better fresh on metal sticks instead of in cold takeout boxes. The Meat pie was also just okay... a bit light on the filling and not very flavorful. The chicken plate was definitely the best dish here but I wish it was a bit different. Definitely not as spicy as it should have been and missing a bit of flavor; still this would be the only recommendation I suggest here. It also took over an hour and a half for the entire order of just three items to be prepared, so definitely call ahead. Half of the food had become extremely cold by the time we got the entire order. I would suggest calling in to place your order.

We ordered takeout from restaurant's website and drove all the way from west la to Alhambra to pick it up. The food was, simply put, VERY disappointing. The lamb ribs and boiled lamb are completely dried out and basically inedible. The meat tastes like it's been reheated from days ago. And the Naan is hard as a rock and clearly gone stale. I'm not sure if this restaurant had an issue with no staffing in the kitchen or if this is standard. It's unbelievable that such a well reviewed restaurant could completely ruin the entirety of a $90 takeout order.

The first time we dined “in” here was in 2014. 6 years and the food is always amazing.

One of the best China Islamic restaurant in the SGV! Chicken pull noodle (order w/extra noodles), fried lamb w/cummins, meat pie, and xinjiang noodle a must!!! A bit pricey but considering the labor & quality ingredients behind the preparation, TREAT YOURSELF to a full-flavored scrumptious meal!!!! You will agree it's worth each penny that was ponied up.

Extremely long waiting time, only two parking spots besides the building. Bad experience.

The beat uygur dishes outside China. Yummy hand pulled noodles and super tasting lamb skewers, also love the homemade yogurt and cold noodle dish. Thank goodness, it reopen this weekend after a 4 month closure.
