Hands down the best cake in San Jose. I highly recommend getting one for birthday parties. You won't be disappointed and your guest, they'll be wanting seconds.

You can not go wrong with this bakery. Everything available in the store is delicious and there is something for everyone!! I favorite s for different reasons but the one I love since childhood hood are their danishes with raisins and nuts. No one ever makes them like Prters Bakery. Go get you pastries & Enjoy!!

My mom use to take me there as a child. It was always amazing and still has the same look inside! I miss the sweet treats and my mom. I'm 52 and my mom is no longer here. I wish I was close enough to get those wonderful pastries to share with my family.

Bookmarked this SJ institution having seen the reviews for Burnt Almond Cake. As we were driving back to San Jose coming in from the Peninsula last Saturday before Easter, we decided to swing by. Belinda, a fellow Sactown Elite, might have given us ideas and peaked our curious taste buds during a chanced encounter at Palo Alto during lunch. Called ahead but nobody answered. I told my wife to just take the posted online times as correct and risk the 10 minute detour as we didn't have plans for the rest of the afternoon anyway. We were able to park proximal to the bakeshop as we got lucky somebody was pulling out from their street parking. They were allowing limited people inside the facility and customers were allowed to enter as an equal number exited. Not much to say about the ambiance of this historic bakeshop aside from it's antique cash register. It's functional and it sells baked goods. Our counter server was nice and patient while we decided what to order aside from the BAC. They were out of slices for the chocolate variant of the BAC so we settled for a square of the Choc Choc. Probably our expectations were too high but we found the BAC a high 3/5. Not too sweet but the crumbly chiffon just didn't hack it. The Choc Choc was a 4/5 but definitely not the best double chocolate dessert we've ever had. It's good that we can finally tick off Peter's Bakery from our Yelp Collection.

I wanted to order a birthday cake here but didn't realize they were closed Sundays and Mondays. You can make an online reservation 48 hours in advance but it was too late for me. Luckily I was able to snatch a catch in the morning. Although they were busy and the line was somewhat long, there were plenty of cakes available! Once it was my turn, I was out the door in less than 10 minutes. I heard someone wanting to order cupcakes and the workers said they could order as much as they want. It's nice to know they have plenty of items ready for purchase since they're constantly busy. Parking is limited here out the store front but there is a bigger lot behind the building with plenty of spots!

My friends from one side of Northern California to the other have all boasted about how amazing Peter's bakery is. Especially the burnt almond items. The burnt, almond bakery goods seem to be the life, blood of this Bakery, and I'm really trying to figure out why. Peter's Bakery is located in San Jose, and you will always find a line of people waiting outside to get into this limited space bakery. Keep in mind, you'll definitely need your credit card. The price point for some of the items seems within keeping of today's, unfortunately high standard pricing, and others just seem to be priced unreasonably. Nonetheless, I gave in and purchased a variety items for the family. The pastries I purchased, were not a hit. Underwhelming, bland, and nothing better than you'd find in a low end grocery store. The blueberry poundcake had very few blueberries in it, was over baked, and just lacked flavor. I'd purchased the large, burnt almond cake, which does come in a couple of other flavors, but the lady behind the counter insisted that I go with the original because according to her, it's the best. I'm not sure what it's the best at, because this was disappointing as well. I served the burnt almond cake after dinner with a dessert wine that should have made it a wonderful pairing. We all agreed that the cake itself tasted like it had been over baked, and bear in mind, this has nothing to do with the burnt almond flavor. I was hoping that the filling would have a nice almond or even marzipan taste, and it just turned out to be bland as well. The burnt almonds on the top of the cake reminded me of cakes that my family used to purchase when I was a little girl only to discover that this version missed the mark on every level. This was an expensive experience that I won't be going back to try again. The three stars are for super friendly service, and, despite the lines, the staff is pretty efficient at helping people, select their items, and getting them in and out of the bakery fairly quickly.

It has been a while since I went to Peter's Bakery. I only came for a piece of pie, but I walked out with a mini lemon meringue, apple square, oatmeal raisin cookies, blueberry pastry, 2 brownies, and some rock chip cookies. ?

I love their burnt almond cake. That's just a starter; their cookies and pastries are also good. You can't go wrong purchasing something from Peters’ Bakery.
